You'll have fun, the Chinese in big cities are just westerners wearing asiaticsuits. Beside food, self-censorship and some weird customs it's basically no different to going elsewhere.

      Literally just be white

What if I'm 30, 5'7", black hair, dark eyes, and thick facial hair?

I know it's about China. I'm providing reference points for how I perform in a hard to get laid country (USA) vs an easy one (philippines) and looking to see where China fits on the spectrum

I'm nearly 30 and do not.
I agree that if you've got a circle like that, you're good to go. I just don't and would like to fix that.

So join a cheap community college instead of flying over to China and dealing with all visa bullshit or even just go to college campuses in the USA and pretend you are a student not hard
                easy prostitutes everywhere there

          >5'7
You'll unironically have people talking shit about your height. Chinese can be incredibly straight forward. 5'7 isn't tall for China and they think all white and black people are like 6'1 so anything under 5'10 is considered short cause you don't meet their stereotype. Keep in mind that at 5'10 you'll still be taller than the average local unless youre in Dongbei or Shandong.

            Why Dongbei or Shandong specifically?
Is there something in the water in those provinces?

northern chinese ate wheat instead of rice so they had more protein and didn't end up as small as cantonese who are disproportionately diaspora

Not until zero covid ends i wouldnt go. I could probally force myself to put up with the masks 24/7 and the QR codes but you will not be able to leave to go back to your family for christmas due to travel restrictions that looks years away from any easing. One person in your block has sniffles and your locked down for a few weeks,

Depends on the school. Some do courses in English but not many, some will say you do a year of Chinese study there before starting your undergrad, some will want a good hsk score, maybe 4, idk what it is now.

Can't speak specifically for the uni experience since I only go every so often to visit family but just for living life in general you'll want a good grasp of Chinese. In the big cities you can get by especially if you frequent the expat parts of town but I would say you still need some knowledge. You'll have to integrate into some local systems like dealing with the banks and setting up your Chinese phone number and wechat stuff but I'm sure any school you go to or job that hires you would help you with that.

Yes, do a year. Shanghai, Chengdu are the best cities for a good time. Shanghai is the easiest city and the most normie. Chengdu is best if you are cool. Beijing is horrible on the winter.
9f you are thinking of doing a full undergrad then I would reconsider due to whether it would benefit your career. But a year would be good for your life.

Beijing definitely sucks in the winter but I actually think it's worse in the summertime. At least spring is alright for like a month.

China isn't allowing foreign students right now. Only exception are Russians, Pakistanis, Indian (of they are in their final year), Koreans, Thais, Cambodians and Ethiopians. Every month they allow a new country in but I can assure you that any anglo country will be dead last. You can try Taiwan though.

    It's an incredibly bad idea.
Go to Korea or Japan, their governments aren't evil and don't hate foreigners.
.t I did a student exchange to Korea University in my undergrad, it was fun
