I was stationed in Japan for four years in Sasebo, which is about halfway between Fukuoka and Nagasaki on the island of Kyushu. Can give you a rough rundown on my takeaways that stick out in my mind about Japan although it may not directly relate to what you're asking.
Meme answer but I really enjoyed the food. I'm not a huge fan of seafood but I came to at least appreciate it in all its forms while here. There's a lot of good restaurants and places that one can just kind of stumble across. The best places were ones I didn't even seek out, just walked past and peeked my head in and got a table. There's a lot of cool stuff to see, especially in Nagasaki, Kagoshima, and Fukuoka. I didn't go to Tokyo or anything like that, but Osaka was fun. If you like night-life, I guess Fukuoka was alright. I have more but I can elaborate elsewhere
I found Japanese people very boring, plain, and mundane people but extremely arrogant and annoying polite. Hard to really put it into words, but they're a very irritating people when it's not just simple transaction. Everything here has this certain feeling of dreariness and soullessness. A part of me wants to almost say that this country never really seemed to progress past the 90s, and it's stuck in like a stasis from that time. But I don't know, I wasn't around then.
For your purposes, since you seem like a tradlarper, Japanese women are incredibly boring and most of the ones you're going to meet who are going to be interested in you as a foreigner are literal trash, who just want to ape Western culture and you're part of their aesthetic as their foreign boyfriend. There are gems, I've seen it with guys I served with, but most of the non-trash women aren't going to really associate with foreigners.
You guys are scum especially in Japan. Sending 18 year olds with no life experience is a recipe for disaster in Japan. Always causing trouble and being rude as shit to locals. Opinion discarded
Watching retard anons seethe about military in Japan is always a good laugh. You guys the same dudes on /r/Tokyo that froth at the mouth every time a military base comes up?
We should have nuked them a third or fourth time.
You should nuke your little mutilated pecker in the microwave, amerimutt.
I never caused trouble and actively avoided those who did. I wasn't 18 when I went there and I was more mature than the average serviceman.
He asked my view on Japan, so I gave it to him.
>I prefer red meat food, seeing how shit is fish this days because parasites and mercury levels, I'm gonna reserve my mediterranean diet.
They have that there too, but a lot of the food is seafood-based, at least where I was. It might be different more inland or on another island. I'm not really that familiar with the others.
>Meme answer too, I don't need a woman with to much hyperactivity, just one that loves and respect me.
It's not that they're not hyperactive or anything but I personally found them to be very superficial. It might be a personal thing, so take it as you will. The guys I knew who got married to Japanese women are still married to them, so there's that. But I wouldn't go to Japan expecting to find your tradfu. It's just not really feasible to bank on that.
>Can you elaborate it? How they act?
I found them to be a very arrogant people who have a worse superiority complex than Europeans. Very ignorant, and proud of that kind of ignorance. A girl I was seeing on-and-off swore up and down that Japan was the only country with four seasons, and wouldn't even consider that I come from somewhere with four seasons because I must be mistaken, you don't understand, Japan is...and so forth. But my feelings on the Japanese are my own, and I'm not trying to give you a totally wrong impression. They are superficially nice, and if you're not really looking for any deep connection but just a fun time they are fine for that.
How easy is it to cook in Japan?
And from chat I heard the four season thing is a very common belief in Japan, they're an insular people so it isn't surprising they would be ignorant of other countries. I've met French people who have never travelled outside France but still think France is the best country in the world, french food is the best,Paris is the most beautiful city in the world, and that everyone envy them..
*Coom not cook, sorry m8
If you're good looking and in good shape, relatively easy. I never really had an issue, but I wouldn't say most of them were quality women.
What a shit take, "huurrr i like the food but the japanese are boring".
Thanks for nothing, golem mutt.
Interesting info, thanks anonbro.

There's no such thing as Mediterranean diet if you have lived in Mediterranean. It's funny that it's only Anglos and Germans who go on about it. Meanwhile half of Spaniard dishes are based around potatoes and pork. And if you mean food they eat by the coast, it's definitely loaded with fish. Swordish, tuna, sardines, octupus, clams, cockles, etc.
>Can you elaborate it? How they act?
pure unbridled autism, add in some "constantly worrying what other people think about them", being two-faced (most japanese have a completely fake public persona to fit in)
doesnt help that they're all sleep-deprived alcoholics as well.
be wary of the few that are sober, they're fucking extra weird.
What’s up Sasebro! I was stationed there too and everything you say is pretty spot on. Jap girls treat Gaijin boyfriends like fashion accessories, yeah I get to fuck but being dehumanized consistently was tiresome. I stopped bothering after a while.
No, they like foreign men just fine, you're just a fucking loser. Never post again.
>I found Japanese people very boring, plain, and mundane people but extremely arrogant and annoying polite. Hard to really put it into words, but they're a very irritating people when it's not just simple transaction.
truth, but it's not always a bad thing being honest.
>this country never really seemed to progress past the 90s
which is what makes japan awesome
i lived there for 10 years in the 00s and it was like being in the 80s again
Currently living in Japan and I could not disagree more.
>mundane, annoyingly polite
This is such a US military personnel take. My guess is you arrived with little life xp and tried to act exactly as you do back home and it didn't work out for you.
Japanese women didn't associate with you because you were loud and rude.
The problem is that population doesn't shrink equally among all age groups. A small amount of young people will have take care of million of old people
That's only for countries with public retirement funds where the young pay for the retirement of the old, not for countries with privatised retirement funds.
Also boomers are way richer than millenials or zoomers, as they kept all the wealth for themselves, kept the wages of their employees (the generation after them) low, are the main landowners and so on.
>That's only for countries with public retirement funds where the young pay for the retirement of the old
Isnt this how it works in Japan?
i legit don't know
>will have take care of
If you're a boomer and you didn't manage to save up a decent nest egg despite having the economy set to ultra super easy difficulty mode for your entire life then just fucking die and get it over with.
>rich boomer parents kick me out at 18
>refuse to share wealth, they think money is easy to make as it was for them
>now they're too old to take care of themselves and their only son sends their calls straight to voicemail
Karma's a fucking bitch. Enjoy your flip caretaker stealing your consoomer shit while you both rot alone. Assholes.
This 100%, boomers deserve the rope.
I'd do the same shit, anon. Not even joking.
Based. American individualism is wild to mee and I find it sad that it arrived to Northern Europe too. Sometimes you get shamed for living with your parents even though they are doing the best thing possible: give you generational wealth and allow you to save money by not renting from a garden gnome
Based anti-boomer anons.
If you think I'm gonna be slave of boomers, you think wrong, that "people" can eat shit and die in the streets.
As long as boomers are majority, they can always vote for more taxes for you and more benefits for them
>but short term pain is necessary for long term prosperity
There is no long term prosperity in a country with shrinking population
>There is no long term prosperity in a country with shrinking population
It won't shrink forever. And when it reaches a point of balance, a new economic cycle begins. Probably another round of ponzinomics based on infinite growth, but hopefully something more stable
sure, but my point is that the time of shrinking is "bad time". Meanwhile, OPs image suggests the opposite
Unironically based. All memes aside. Imagine having a near-six figure job with just a diploma and the ability to hold down a full time job with benefits, AND the ability to buy a house with two cars on ONE salary (and failing to put any of that shit into an IRA or growth-based fund). Unironic suicide.
Absolutely fuck boomers but a declining and inverse population pyramid is horrible for many many reasons in this modern era. Except a rapid decline of quality of life and being overtaxed
How are you going to evade the taxes (to fund pensions) the larger senior group will vote for?
A pension system based on infinite growth is obviously unsustainable. It has to collapse some time and that time appears to be within the next 10-20 years. It sucks for millenials and zoomers who will have to take the brunt of it, but short term pain is necessary for long term prosperity
With fewer children/siblings, you also have smaller extended families and fewer friends. Over generations, that means you can't rely on family and have to pay strangers for favors like babysitting, getting a ride to the airport, etc.
>you can't rely on family and have to pay strangers for favors like babysitting, getting a ride to the airport
Wow, we will have to pay a taxi to go to the airport, HOW WILL WE SURVIVE?????
>a small amount of young people will have to take care of a million old people
hahaha. Nope! We'll take gramps to the top of Mt Fuji in his wheelchair and then push him off the edge.
You will never be Japanese. They don't want you either. Langauge teachers are seen as losers unless they're in their early 20's.
I'll add that the actual bastions are already available in the West. Rural land is cheap. In many Western EU countries there's incentives by government to populate rural towns (1€ houses, etc.) and promote agriculture. In US it must be even cheaper. You can wageslave with a crappy job and earn enough for some rural house and land. You can find women who just want to be boring housewives even still. Except all of this would actually involve doing something besides writing up pipe stories of moving to Japan, an incredibly xenophobic and conservative nation that doesn't want you, as an immigrant. Jesus Christ what went so wrong that you've become such a delusional loser and a quitter?
I'd add you can probably already buy something with five years wageslavery. Start with a shitter job, get some qualification (imagine actually researching a niche or an opportunity, I know it's too much for most larpers already) to earn more one or two years after. Get a driving license. Research property market in rural places. What can you do with that land and how you could support yourself after. What will you do with internet, sewage, etc. Meanwhile find an autistic woman and marry her. Five years. It's not that much. Could be even less if you already got savings and a job that doesn't pay peanuts.
>In US it must be even cheaper.
getting large plots of land and getting loans is prob cheaper but I've never heard of giving homes/land away for that cheap. if you make under 80K you're eligible for a USDA loan which lets you get a rural house for 0 down, so less than 1K after closing costs and fees. After that the problem becomes finding an income in those areas, farming isn't going to be enough to provide for your family. Remote work and starlink has made things much simpler though.
>Meanwhile find an autistic woman and marry her.
Easier said than done but on my list. The problem is that most autistic women around here are pretty academic/career focused
I'm not like OP or anything like that, but I've found women and dated women who just wanted a house somewhere rural with chickens and quiet and peace. It's definitely possible. Although, you got to remember, like attracts like, it doesn't surprise me complete losers who fetishize going to Japan as some sort of a bastion for 'West' (lmao what) can't find shit. But yeah, probably a mildly autistic woman would be great for this sort of a thing.
That's really cool, I had no idea you could get that. In Italy they were giving houses for 1€, but on condition you'd renovate it in five places and would actually live there. So in reality the expenses are more than that, but some people still took advantage of that. My friend lives up in a remote village in Italian mountains. There's a 2h walk from there to a small village with maybe one or two people permanently living there. You can live there for free, but you can't own the place since it's park property. If anyone was inclined to be a monk, they could do that. It's possible to hunt and fish, obviously with some paperwork done. You could grind down chestnut flour and have some goats for milk. At least that's what people did there back in the day. Tb h there's many options out there for people who want to unplug from most of the society, but surprise surprise it's all just larpers who haven't ever done shit in their entire life and never will.
in five years* or something like that. Different regions had different rules. They are all in beautiful locations, but they're rural as fuck and there's not much economy around. But you can definitely do something with that. Better than waging in city for 30 years for a shitty cardboard box house either case.
>Japan, an incredibly xenophobic and conservative nation
Only by W*stern standards
My point is they don't want your pimply ass there. You're a retarded monkey to them. You're not Japanese. You will never be Japanese. You have round eyes, and you don't have Mongolian skull shape. You will never speak fluent Japanese and you will never lose your awful accent. You will never be considered Japanese. If there's every a change of government towards some radical insularism, as they have done several times throughout the history, you will be the first one sent packing. They don't care if you're le based white immigrant, they think you're a foreigner and shouldn't be there. You're like an Afghan living in Finland.
You're pretty much spot on, except your last sentence.
Japan doesn't really allow foreigners who are a drain on their lean welfare system, hence any foreigner by definition has to be self-sufficient.
I wasn't trying to imply being on welfare, although I get how I could have gotten across from the comparison. My point is that no matter how well integrated they can become, they will never truly be Japanese. A mere glance is enough to tell they weren't born there and at best are just there to work for a few years. A few years, right? Even a child knows this, never mind an adult. There's very few countries which are truly multicultural, but even then I imagine most people subconsciously see them as foreign. And I'm talking about states that love immigration like US, Canada, UK, et al. It's beyond me why 4chanoid types worship Japan as a great place to emigrate to t b h.
By 'them' I mean whichever group which is fundamentally different from the original populations. Even in US I think people would view MENA immigrants as more foreign than Mexicans, and both of them as more foreign than WASP, natives or African-Americans.
The fact that Japs hate everyone (whites included--sometimes) makes them based. They're still Uncle Toms (Uncle Toshis?) when it comes to whites for the things they let whites get away with there, but ultimately will go full yellow rage if need be.
Then again, they are encouraging immigrants to move to their rural prefectures so things are changing maybe?
>Mexicans foreign in their own lands.
>The fact that Japs hate everyone (whites included--sometimes) makes them based.
This is wishful thinking. Older japs tend to be a bit more "based", but the younger generation can be just as pozzed as gen-z Americans.
Is it already over for me bros?
