Is Peru safe?

Hey anons, I want to go to Peru but I’m trying to determine if it’s safe for me as an american. The food, girls, and attractions seem really good but the state department says reconsider travel. However, they site areas outside the capital, and I would stay in Miraflores exclusively. Also, please tell me what to do there—thanks.

It's really safe, safer than most places in the USA. I would say Miraflores is a good chance to get robbed though, safest places are off the beaten gringo path. Leave the women alone

I read that Miraflores is the safest place?? And please don’t try to gatekeep us

Im not trying to gatekeep you from Miraflores lol. I had the time of my life in Peru, I spent 3 months solo 5 years ago when I was 18 and had no problems. I'd wander the streets drunk at night, do coke and visit brothels and still had no issues. I was not careful by any means. I regret being a degenerate though. I only did the northern half from Ecuador to Lima, and visited lots of stuff on the way down. I had the most fun in places far from Lima. Jaen, Chachapoyas, Cajamarca and the Huaraz area are great. Kuelap was amazing (although I just looked it up and it looks like it got damaged badly). The attractions are incredible, food is very good, its super cheap. Miraflores was very different from anywhere else in Peru, people drive around in fancy cars and things are 3x as expensive, people know that rich gringos hang out there so scams and stuff are common. If you listen to the state department youre a moron and should just go to Florida

Just got back from a couple weeks in Peru, it seemed to me much safer than ecuador but you could still get robbed if you aren't careful. I went out late on my own in miraflores a few nights and was fine but I also know some spanish. My hot tip would be to spend less time in Lima and more time in cusco or the sacred valley. Latam cities are all shitholes filled with scammers but at least cusco has a lot of historic or scenic sites within a day's travel. the sacred valley was really great since it was so rural and at a slightly lower elevation than cusco. not ideal for degen activities but personally I was there to admire the old inca shit. For the historically minded, you will probably notice high levels of cope when discussing topics such as the Spanish conquest or inca customs with local guides. Most of this stuff happened almost 500 years ago but they really haven't gotten over being btfo so hard by the pizarros. Let me know if you have any other questions I'd be happy to try and answer them

Not OP but I'm looking to go to do 3 months in Peru next year but instead of Lima I want to go to Huaraz, Cusco, and Arequipa. Are these places safe enough as well?

Of those I only visited cusco but it was very safe from my impression. just lots of people selling things, I would be more concerned with the altitude than crime if you're staying in the old city (anywhere near the plaza de armas)

bottled water okay too? Not keen on losing my senses in a south american country. also, how do I know which bars are safe? Don't wanna get Shanghai'd.

            [...]
OP here. I don't want to do Lima AND Cusco, it's gotta be one or the other just for simplicity's sake. Which should I choose?

Also, this is not a pure coom trip, but I will take the liberty. How fast are the brown beauties for a white westerner? Can I be overt with my intentions or do they want the facade of a relationship? Reliable first-date leg spreads, yeah? Not a geocel btw, I do fine at home.

Lima has better options for nightlife and cooming, cusco has more stuff to do during an extended stay imo. Some of it is pretty high adventure but there are plenty of day outings that don't require exerting yourself too much (machu picchu, rainbow mountains, chicherias). It might not be everybody's favorite thing but I was very interested in the archaeology and precolumbian stuff, which is everywhere, plus the natural beauty.

I didn't go into any bars that I could really recommend, they were all pretty touristy which I guess is what you want but alcohol is super cheap and widely available. I just had a big pilsen or two before going to bed each night, which I will recommend as well because it kills some of the nastier shit in your stomach. the bottled water is fine but you will run into some food that gets you sick, even eating at high-end places because the bacteria there just hits different. Everybody I traveled with or talked to got sick at some point. I felt the beer helped me with that but do you, just a heads up

Checked and I'll try the trick with alcohol, thanks. Don't suppose you have any top foods to look out for, like fish? I know food sickness is a risk you have to accept with traveling but I'd like to avoid if possible. Thanks again.

Also would still appreciate answers (from anyone) regarding my query re: hooking up, it would be helpful have some background on the local attitudes.

all of those crimes are also common in america. with the addition of school shootings and cities being burned down by black people. peru is something of a safe haven by comparison

Everyone in Peru is 5ft tall if you're a normal white man(6ft, 200lbs, grew up hunting and fighting with your brothers) you will have no problem at all and will probably get a few brown women pregnant.

Just remember to stay drinking alcohol so you don't get sick from their shitty poverty water.

More like 4.5 ft tall, about 3 million venezuelans live there right now though, one or half a foot taller and bolder/warmer than locals, most are total pals but still be wary, they have a more mediterranean and/or Black person look

        *4 or 4.5 ft
Brothels in Lima and large cities are great, they have a large proportion of venezuelan and columbian women (same in Chile), peruvians as well but normally are meh in comparison, HIV has been rising in the past years too due to influx of promiscuous dirt poor venezuelans
