Yeah something is odd with these nu-anglo countries, especially Australia and Canada. US is a mixed bag of everything, unironically their whole “muh freedumb” thing made them less worst, at least burgers don’t have to get vaccinated to come back.
I am Australian living in the UK (parents are 1st gen europeans) and always fet that a lot of Australians are totally oblivious and ignorant, kinda like the worst type of Americans.

Yeah, but with Australians it's endearing because they're just comfortable in their stupidity. Americans want to spread their stupidity to the rest of the world, that's the problem.

If we didn't have Biden, or someone similar, we'd probably be open. As an American I traveled to Poland last October and didn't need to be (covid) vaccinated. When I returned to the US in January I was just supposed to provide a negative test result, but the customs guy couldn't give two fuks and didn't even ask, he just stamped my passport.

Ironically they called them the Trump vaccines and the same people who would lynch you for not getting them were up in arms about them at the time. Even though Trump touted them as amazing, I don't think he would have pushed any of the mandates or restrictions.

        >Ironically they called them the Trump vaccines and the same people who would lynch you for not getting them were up in arms about them at the time.

That shit was eye-opening for me. Also how Thanksgiving or Christmas was a big no-no but gathering in a crowd of thousands and going on a march was ok. The npc meme definitely has some truth to it.

I've also heard this from Americans returning home. It probably makes a difference how pozzed the place you fly in to is.
However I know several Brits that have flown in to the US this year and been asked to present the proof of poz.
I'm hoping to be able to visit this summer and am even considering buying a ticket and hoping they just don't ask later this year. But really entering a country against their rules - even immoral and indefensible rules - seems like a bad idea.

If they let you in without checking your vax it’s your own fault, I talked to an airline today about something and the agent said that you can enter the US unvaxxed with a test which is completely untrue, the only people who check your vax to get into the US is the airline itself so if you get in no one will know and be able to deport your or fine you etc.

            >If they let you in without checking your vax it’s your own fault
You mean their own fault, right?

            >I talked to an airline today about something and the agent said that you can enter the US unvaxxed with a test which is completely untrue
Yes, that's not what the rule is. At least it's not the announced rule.
But it crossed my mind that if they ask for a vaxpass and I show a negative antigen test, there will be some good people out there who'll think "good enough for me". I've heard plenty of anecdotal evidence that the people whose job it is to look at it barely glance at the relevant stuff or don't even ask.
All but the nastiest petty power trippers among airline staff are definitely fed up of asking people to prove they've had injections to get on a plane. Nobody is afraid of covid and you can bet they've all had horrible interactions with people being denied access to a flight they paid for. You can imagine people crying because they didn't know the specifics or did something wrong or brought the wrong info or are afraid of needles and unable to get an exemption and just want to see their family or whatever and are now thousands out of pocket.
Nobody wants to enforce this stupid shit any more and nobody wants to risk ruining their day or having really bad interactions with people because of it.
The only thing is that it's a long flight and I'm not sure if they check on arrival too. I'd hate to get through the gate here only to be asked for the vaxpass specifically by some masked up and on message bootlicker on the other end.
Another issue is that Verifly app. If they expect to see that and I am unable to prove a sufficient level of obedience to illegitimate authority, then that's another problem. I don't think fake vaxpasses is the way to go, either

              Anonymous

Yeah my bad I meant their fault, and for the verifly app could you just not enter the info so you can have the airline worker check it instead so maybe you get a better chance at going through?

                Anonymous

                Okay that's good.
A guy I know was telling me everyone has to use the Verifly app, but something about the way he said it made me think he was either lying or at least knew he was asserting something he didn't know for sure to be true.

Unironically, get vaxxed. Saying this as a semi-jacked fit 23 year old that works out maybe 4 hours a day (jogging, swimming, weight lifting) etc.

I’ve travelled pretty extensively over the past few years, not had a single issue with covid until last week. It absolutely fricked me up, and guess what? I’m triple jabbed, had my booster around 2 months ago.

First two days were a mild sore throat, nothing crazy. Then I had a whole night and day of throbbing headaches, sweats, chills, coughing etc.

My sister who only had two jabs couldn’t talk for 3 or so days, severe fever, night sweats and headache for about a week. Her sense of taste is still gone.

Reality is, the common flu is normally pretty fricking bad. I’ve only had it a few times yet each time I’ve been bed bound for a couple of days. Even if covid is only 10-20% worse than Influenza, it’s still really fricking bad.

Anyone who’s not been jabbed yet, not saying this as a weird moral point or whatever, just get jabbed for your own sake.

I've not had any shots and haven't gotten sick with anything this whole time. Not even a minor cold in the last 2 years.

I've also traveled and gone out more than ever, no mask whenever I could.

And you've gotten three goodboy mrna shots, a healthy 23 year old, and it's almost July and you're catching and propagating it. Same with your sister.

        >Not even a minor cold in the last 2 years.

        >I've also traveled and gone out more than ever, no mask whenever I could.

Same here. I know how I got it though, as I spent time with someone in an enclosed space who had an acute covid infection.

If you’re in a big open space, plenty of ventilation, outdoors or whatever, unless someone’s literally coughing in your face I doubt you’ll get it.

The point about the vaccine (whatever it is) is dumb. The vaccine assists your body in fighting off the virus a bit more than what you’d typically be able to.

I can tell you, unironically, I wasn’t going to get any covid shots but only did it for travel. Now I’m glad I did get them, just because I know how shit this virus actually is

Your 23 year old strong immune system should be able to do that just fine, especially outside of flu season. Looking back, how many times did get sick in the middle of summer, like now? Yet it's the end of June, you've had three shots, and you caught covid. Talk about a shitty "vaccine".

            >23 year old strong immune system should be able to do that just fine

It doesn’t matter your age or fitness level, influenza will kick your fricking ass and put you out of it for a decent amount of time. Would I recover just fine? Yeah of course I would. Ideally though, if I had the option of taking a quick shot that would lessen the severity of my symptoms and duration of sickness I’d want to take it obviously. Same applies with COVID.

            >Looking back, how many times did get sick in the middle of summer, like now?

Plenty of times honestly. You’ve got to remember though, half the reason why we’re so much more vulnerable to sickness in fall is due to spending a lot more time indoors and in enclosed spaces, along with large family gatherings, social events etc. You can still catch a virus just as easily off someone in summer.

            >You've had three shots, and you caught covid

I was never under the presumption that It’d stop me getting the virus whatsoever. Nobody thinks that.

you need the polio and measles vaccines to travel to most places
people don't think about those because they stop those viruses dead - unlike the worthless goodboy shots developed in 1 year instead of 10 - and of course those diseases are far worse than anything chinese bat flu does to anyone who isn't a 90-year-old asthmatic

I don’t really know or care about who this guy is. I’m guessing it’s an American thing. Regardless, mandates (I’m guessing you mean mask wearing and stay at home orders) were used to stop infection rates getting high and clogging up healthcare systems/hospitals.

We saw it happen over and over, especially at the start of the pandemic in Italy, before it even hit the US.

I don’t understand what is so hard to understand. Virus bad. Cold bad. Flu bad. Covid worse.

There are studies showing a link between higher levels of Testosterone/DHT and worse covid outcomes. Women are impacted nearly everywhere significantly less than men.

That’s probably why, because you’re most likely a feminised, limp-wristed gamer with higher estrogen than your average woman.

I had it in april and I had one night of vomiting and a full day of diarrhea, I was almost sure it was stomach flu (and to this day I am still convinced it was stomach flu and anything similar to it is branded as “covid”). I only got tested like 5 days later because my partner got positive (to get sick leave) after a night of vomiting.
My 60 year old chain-smoking unvaccinated mom got tested as well because she was there as well and she got the least of symptoms. She only had a small cough.

All of us now have proof of recovery so traveling is now easy.

Serious question. I am 24, unvaccinated. Only supposedly got covid at the very beginning of the pandemic when I lost my smell and taste for a couple of weeks, but was back to normal afterward.

Never had any symptoms since. No cough, no headache, fever etc. Lived a completely normal life throughout 2021 - partying, no masks on public transport, not giving a frick about any of the measures.

Had maybe 2 slight colds earlier this year but felt like any other cold I had. How the frick am I not incapacitated or dead yet?

      >No cough, no headache, fever etc. Lived a completely normal life throughout 2021 - partying, no masks on public transport, not giving a frick about any of the measures.

      This sounds exactly like me

I’ve travelled pretty extensively over the past few years, not had a single issue with covid until last week. It absolutely fricked me up, and guess what? I’m triple jabbed, had my booster around 2 months ago.

Even from when COVID first started, I was meeting up with friends, breaking restrictions, regularly travelling to places, travelling, partying etc. I lived life like covid hasn’t fricking existed the whole time, long before I got my first vax (which I admittedly got to travel).

The biggest conclusion that I’ve come to is COVID is a lot less transmissible than some people will have you think, especially in the asymptomatic phase. Close, direct, prolonged contact with someone who is actively infected however is what will likely give you the virus. Reality is though, if someone feels sick these days it’s unlikely they’ll go out because they don’t want to possibly infect people with the virus.

For note though, I train at the gym with a group of 4. Was last there the day before I got symptoms and only one of them ended up ill, with the other 3 feeling just fine and not being infected.

Kek I'm COVID positive and will literally fly to London in a few days

I'll hit the gym and stuff too, all things I wouldn't want to do in my country

But hey, if you're literally asking for it... I feel like it's okay to do it there.

If you're "covid positive" and also able to go to the gym, then that just shows covid is a meme doesn't it?
And therefore the vaccines, vaccine rules in other countries, masks and all the rest of it was a stupid waste of time. Right?

Nah I've been laying flat for a couple of days, so it's like a flu. Not super bad but not a pleasant experience either.

I've got 3 shots + I've had it once in the past already so if it still makes me feel like shit I'm sure those have helped with preventing worse.

That being said we're now at a stage where everyone that wanted them has been given an opportunity to get their shots, so I don't feel like I need to go out of my way to protect anyone. Like I said I act differently in my own country which is still a bit more paranoid about COVID but the UK makes it feel like it's okay to do that so I won't hold back either

I'm sorry if that is your sincerely held opinion of what is happening.

          >the UK makes it feel like it's okay to do that
What you have is not a deadly virus and is instead more accurately described as the newly normalised mass-hypochondria which has been imparted to the general population via their subconsciouses in a way they do not notice let alone understand.
In short, you're not going to make anyone sick at the gym. Have at it.
While in London, make sure to check out the museums. There are some really good ones.
