Is there any point in me wanting to visit the US?

Is there any point in me wanting to visit the US? I don't have anyone that I want to see there (Family, online friends, IRL friends etc.), it's a really expensive flight from Australia and I don't have a licence and from what I've heard you need a licence to do anything in the US.

You will do fine in cities like NY that have decent public transport.

No, nyc is vastly inferior to any other developed major city unless you are super into being in the center of globohomosexual and it’s disgusting streets and crime don’t make up for its “charm”. America is nice for nature but if you’re an Aussie you probably have seen most of the cool shit this earth has to offer.

        You guys sound fun …
NYC is fricking awesome, I guess if you’re autistic and don’t have friends it could be a little overwhelming though.

Aside from the nature, you’re really not missing out on much anon. And unless you have a rental car, it would be hard to get out to the national parks. You could maybe find a Workaway with someone willing to pick you up.

Like the other anon said, NYC is cool (in a charmingly shitty way) and you could even take public transport to and around Boston and DC.

By what metric? NYC does have crime and bums, not denying that. However, there is far more to do and see there than a number of major cities such as Toronto, Sao Paulo, Beijing, or Los Angeles. I hate NYC btw, but you sound like a homosexual.

Are you trolling, compare NYC to any of the big Australian cities and it really doesn't have much to offer.

As an American, I feel the same way about Australia. It's worth visiting for the nature, but culturally both countries are more similar than not.

Not even meme'ing but everyone in australia knows the best place to go is california as it's not back asswards in terms of progress. LA is probably the only place a foreigner can visit as they have HSR and public transport unlike the rest of the redneck country

Why would you visit the US and expect/want to take public transport? The charm of the US is not in its urban areas. Very few people in the states would recommend someone go to LA (it's not even overrated, it's plainly not rated lol), but Redwood Forest? For sure.

I had fun in the states but it's true that it's a b***h dealing with the lack of transport. Still I got from place to place on Greyhound/Megabus and it was fine. Did a fair bit of couchsurfing (not sure if that's still a thing) and they would often pick me up or show me a few places.
Texas and Louisiana were both a lot of fun. I liked seeing the desert in Arizona too but there's not a ton outside of that, Phoenix and Tuscon are a bit boring overall. You can cross over into Mexico easily in a lot of places which is a good option, just figure a pretty long line getting back into the states.
Cali was pretty shit imo, expensive as frick. LA is horrible, San Diego was fairly nice tho and real easy to get to Tijuana from there.
