Is there ANY reason at all to visit Moldova?
Have any of you been there?
I'm curious because it's the least visited country in Europe.

For the lulz of course
Are those your words? Or are you taking a dig at someone?
they have good wine I hear. it's kinda cool to see rotting communist infrastructure
>Is there ANY reason at all to visit Moldova?
Is Moldova the place to get real passports/documents on the black market? I mean authentic stuff.
>good and cheap food
>good and cheap wine
>cheap and fed-friendly places to study Russian
>can easily be combined with visit to Romania
Moldova is well suited for babbys first visit to an ex-USSR country.
Before Putin's war you could also visit Transnistria which is a world of its own. Now, maybe it's not such a good idea.
>maybe it's not such a good idea
Why not?
If shit hits the fan you'll be on your own as no western embassy formally takes care of foreigners in Transnistria.
So why don't just visit your embassy in Chișinău which is right next door?
Because there's an actual border between the PMR and Moldova proper?
If you for some reason get arrested in Transnistria you have no diplomatic representation and you will depend on informal channels between Chisinau and Tiraspol.
On the other hand, if you are on the run from bail or child support then Transnistria used to be a an okay place to lay low for a while.
If you are arrested then you aren't going anywhere so having a border crossing (which is less formal compared to usual crossings) doesn't make a difference
Your embassy usually won't help you if you get arrested
We are talking very hypothetical threats, certainly not a reason not to visit the country
>Your embassy usually won't help you if you get arrested
You haven't heard of consular assistance, have you?
Obviously they can't bail you out, but they'll help you by arranging lawyers and interpreters if needed.
Also a call to the local embassy in many cases quickly changes the mind of corrupt officials, sometimes even before the call actually connects.
I normally wouldn't advise to not go to Transnistria, but in the current situation I'd keep away.
Please take your Z and Azog sperging leave, we are already at capacity for shills.
Don't know if you are all the same people but you seem to know a lot about Moldova, are you aware of how hard it is to move there as an American?
Guys, I hate to break it to you, if "shit hits the fan" anywhere, you are on your own. I dont know why people believe their embassies can do anything but make passports for them, because they can't.
I am speaking from experience as an Australian citizen by the way. Maybe you think thats different if you're a citizen of a superpower, like the US. If you think thats the case, ask yourself what aid the US embassy rendered to US citizens when they were getting fricked hard by the extreme lockdowns in China. Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
The shit about embassies rendering extraordinary aid to citizens in bad situations overseas is purely Hollywood make believe. Thats where people got it from. From movies.
Yes, Australian diplomats are known to be more occupied diddling kids in SEA than actually helping their fellow Australians abroad.
You should not apply the Aussie standard to diplomats of other countries.
>I am speaking from experience as an Australian citizen
That's why.
The US organized flights out of Wuhan in 2020. Australia was like "your fault for leaving the island, guess you're fricked."
That people were left behind in Afghan is a huge failure of the Biden administration.
Can you count on them for everything? No. Will they come rescue you from some warlord's basement? No. But at the very least they organize flights out of failing states. They expect you to pay for it though.
>If you think thats the case, ask yourself what aid the US embassy rendered to US citizens when they were getting fricked hard by the extreme lockdowns in China.
And now ask yourself how many foreigners that were stuck in other countries came back home in repatriation flights organised by their respective governments.
Dude you live in a prison camp, quit pretending you know how better governments behave
They decided to formally petition to join Russia.
And why should I care about it?
Because the countries to the left and to the right aren't very fond of Russia and might launch their own special military operation without much advance notice?
Not very likely but a "stray missile" hitting strategic targets, false flags or other provocations could happen.
No, Biden is starting his next war in Taiwan after enough Ukrainians are dead, this stuff is all planned out years in advance it's safe to travel to Moldova
Moldova is absolutely fine, I'd stay away from Transnistria though.
If you want Russian speakers and obscurity credits just go to Gagauzia, pretty good food there too.
>I'd stay away from Transnistria though
what a fricking moron
Transnistria is probably the only interesting thing
Tiraspol is just like another Russian provincial city, seen one, seen all.
Bender is nice but also fairly average post-USSR fare, the castle is okay.
People rarely leave the Bender-Tiraspol-Pervoimaisk corridor, outside that it looks just like Moldova with Russian/Cyrillic instead of Romanian/Latin.
People (myself included) only go there because it's a de-facto country.
Moldova proper is also cheaper and only slightly less polished.
Countries at the left? You mean Moldova? It has friendly relationship with Russia
You are much more likely to encounter a truck of peace in any major western city than hit by a "stray missile" in Transnistria
Moldovans don't like their territory being occupied by Russians larping as Soviet Moldova and many Moldovans would like to get rid of the PMR to finally be able to join the EU and get even more gibs than now.
Budget airlines expanded destinations and they renovated the airport of Chisinau.
Where do you get your information? Do you know why they have chosen to expand after decades?
I've been to Moldova and talked to Moldovans, Romanians, Pridnestrovians and Gagausians plus I've read some books about the area.
As for why the airlines expanded, I guess it was more potential customers in both directions and maybe some EU gibs.
And there are also many Moldovans who are happy with the current situation
Moldova is neutral in the conflict, why you are scaremongering?
Moldova is as neutral as Switzerland, they'll do what the EU tells them to do and if the Russians/Transnistrians would encroach on Moldovan territory they'll be happy to do so.
I'm not scaremongering, just stating my opinion that I would postpone my visit to Transnistria until the situation in the Ukraine calmed down a little.
As for Moldova proper I don't see any problems right now, except that budget accommodations might be occupied by more Ukrainians than usual.
I bet they're happy. Moldova is on a fast track to join the EU now. That would have been impossible a year ago. They'll soon be sending money home from Germany and France.
>They'll soon be sending money home from Germany and France.
They already do, Moldovan citizens enjoy visa-free travel in the Schengen area.
If they speak Romanian then they can easily get Romanian citizenship that allows even more freedom of movement in Europe.
>be putin
>warn NATO about expanding closer to Russia
>do this for 15 years
>gets ignored
>finally has enough and does something
>the west:
Your eurogays fault for being moronic.
Please take your pro-Putin shilling to /misc/. Everyone knows there is zero justification for Putin's aggression, it is a pure conquest and land grab attempt.
>be putin
>attack neighboring countries every few years or so for 15 years
>all foreign policy with trade partners laden with threats of cut-offs, price hikes, shutdowns, market flooding, or even threat of war
>all bordering countries make the logical conclusion that they should carry a bigger stick the next time putin throws out "do what we want OR ELSE"
>"PIZDA THE WEST IS SO HOSTILE RUSSIANS ARE MASTERRACE WHY CANT YOU RECOGNIZE THIS NATO EXPANSION IS SO TERRIBLE WE ARE LITERALLY BEING GENOCIDED WHY ARE YOU PUTTING IN TARIFFS AND IMPORT TOLLS AND SANCTIONS YOU GUYS ARE JUST RUSSOPHOBIC WE WILL BLOW UP YOUR NUCLEAR PLANTS BLYAT WHERE IS MY COCA COLA REEEEEE WHERE IS EVIDENCE WHERE IS EVIDENCE WHERE IS EVIDENCE FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE"
really makes you think
so many words, such few content
>NOO YOU CANT JOIN NATO WHAT ABOUT RUSSIAN SOVEREIGNTY
>democratic independent countries are free to decide upon their internal policy as the people see fit
well I'm not surprised you don't understand. education standards in russia are quite poor.
That's more concise, better post like that from the beginning next time.
Russia won and the USA lost no matter how much you cry, now you try to be racist and prevent Russian from traveling. Sorry yank stooge but we will get sun in turkey this winter will you will freeze to death
>Russia won
here have a fizzy pop
oh wait
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>your brain on CNN
Probably haven't heard that they continued the production under a new label?
Besides, if any Russian really wants to support the poor people of Atlanta they can just get the EAC import version from Kazakhstan or Belarus.
Are Moldovans just Romanians?
What makes it the least visited? It can't be the least scenic.
>Are Moldovans just Romanians?
The language is nearly identical and many people in both sides wish for a unification of the two countries but the two countries feel different.
>What makes it the least visited?
poor
small
away from main traffic routes
not in EU (so their citizens formerly needed a passport to visit)
no obvious "highlights", landlocked
Nevertheless I think Moldova is worth a visit, especially if you go out to visit the minority regions and leave enough space in your luggage to bring back wine.
No way because it's poor, most of Europe is poor. Roads probably don't have much to do with it either.
It's probably just because there's no reason to look past Romania to visit there.
Not only roads but also no long-distance trains or (for a long time) budget flights to Western Europe.
Doesn't have any beaches either which eliminates another segment of tourists that would be attracted to low prices.
They do have the better wines than the Romanians though.
Ok, that makes sense.
What lead to being able to travel there on budged airlines?
nice
>it's a country
if it was a part of Romania (as it should be) you wouldn't go there anymore because it's not a country huh?
That’s not what he said, samegay.
so you want to go to an eastern european shithole not because it's interesting, not because of any real reason but: because it's a COUNTRY, because it has a certain POLITICAL STATUS
what a fricking room temperature iq brainlet
Anons forgot the main attraction of Moldova: women
QRD
i thought the least visited country in Europe was Belaurus...
How is the cooming there?
yes. it's an old country with a mix of medieval-soviet flair
Frick that shithole. Went to Chisnau or whatever the frick their capital is called. Me and my brother were walking down the street with some 10/10 we picked up there when I car just randomly stopped in front of us. 5 guys jumped out and started beating my brother and me to a pulp (we are both martial artists btw) because they saw that we are tourists who are fricking they're females. Actually, I respect that, they did the right thing.
Things that happened.
