Is there anything to do in Ireland?

Is there anything to do in Ireland? Family is going there to "see our roots", but I'd rather see Italy and France and maybe slip out to frick some hairy French prostitutes.

As someone from Ireland, its a globohomosexual shithole that is replacing Christianity with lgbtism. Degenerate and becoming more so. Go somewhere else.

Not living there. Is the food there any good? Some of those globo homos make a mean gyro or curry tbh. But I really like coffee. Will probably look to bring home a few bottles of whisky.

Personal opinion is that dublin sucks. Get a little cottage in connemara or cornamona and walk the hills, go to some local pubs, drink some whiskey, maybe go to galway for some fun, that's the "real ireland" to me. Dublin is a shithole. You could also go to Dingle or West Cork.

Any advice or anything specific just ask, I''m from Dublin & lived in Ireland for 20 years, been gone for 10 but I always go back.

Not the OP, but also going for 2 weeks on the 18th. Is Dublin still a huge party on the weekends? We went a couple years ago before covid and bar hopping on the weekend was fantastic. After that going to grab a vehicle and head to see family in Tipperary. Any other places we should check out?

Dublin has a lot to see for who I assume is an American.

      >the spire
      >trimity college and book of kells
      >National art gallery
      >Dublin city tour
      >temple bar

      Also

      >french prostitutes

Use escortireland for all your hooker needs. It is illegal to buy sex in ireland but that gets you through.

Someone said there is a BDSM club in Dublin. Whats the scene like there?

        Anonymous

I have never touched the BDSM scene but admittedly, while many "irish" have had scathing reviews of Dublin here, as a genuine Dubliner I can say I'd expect it to be mediocre at best.

At best being, if you are very lucky. Ireland in itself is a small country and Dublin as a capital is tiny. This is reflective too of the amount of attractive people, talent, etc etc. They are there but in much smaller quantities than larger countries and cities. For something as niche as BDSM I would wager you'd be lucky for it to be anything to write home about.

It's a shithole, so yes, go to Italy or France. Let your family stay there and just take a Ryanair flight to Paris or Milan.

All things you mentioned can be done in a single afternoon.

Dublin is a shithole full of degenerates and knackers, specially near The Spire.

Irish food is bland and poor. Irish woman are ugly, fat, dumb and orange cuz of cheap fake tan. They also dress like prostitutes (all of them, no exception).

The only thing good in Ireland is Guiness, otherwise the whole island is just a cheap England knock off.

        >Dublin is a shithole
True, worse than you expect for a city of its size
        >Irish food is bland and poor
Were semi Brits what do you expect? Were probably the best of British Isle Cuisine but winning against haggis and mushy peas wasn't hard. I'll admit bacon and cabbage does taste good tbh.
        >Irish women are orange
You don't realize how bad it is until you enter a pub or club. It's like entering a carrot greenhouse.
        >Only good thing about Ireland is Guiness.
Our other stouts are as good or better tbh. And I'm not saying this because Arthur Guinness hated us with a passion but the company realized we drank more black stuff than Brits.

If you are into nature stuff you'll enjoy going to remote areas and getting away from people. If you are younger and prefer more urban things be prepared for a big kick in the nuts, shit closes early - especially places that serve drink. You'll be hard pressed to find anything that opens 24 hour except the odd petrol station, of which you'll find only a handful in Dublin itself. The touristy areas are expensive, everything is expensive, alcohol has a minimum price per alcohol %. Public transport is awful, particularly outside the cities - if you are spending time in the countryside you best rent a car which is insanely expensive.
    https://extra.ie/2022/07/25/news/ireland-car-rental-hike
I went to college there in 2010, it's completely different now. A town that would have 6-7 night clubs now has 1 bar that is barely describable as a club. There are a few "college towns" that at the time would have had excellent night life but I think all that is dead now.
I stay away from Dublin like most sane people but the main issue these days is petty crime by bored teenage gangs looking to pick fights.

Went there for a short trip a few months back. Only had four days, so I spent two in Dublin, one in Northern Ireland, and one in Howth. Really enjoyed the trip. Would have liked to see more of the country, but I didn't have the time. I'd say Italy was better, but I was pleasantly surprised with Ireland.

In 2007 I did a one week car ride through the country, using a stack of coupon the travel agency gave me, to stay at various little places around the country. I don't remember the names of places, they were kinda hard on the tongue and I didn't speak fluent English then. Right hand drive is a mess I'm glad to never do it again lol

Ireland is a generic Anglosphere country with an above average pub culture and nice countryside if you like that kind of thing. Ironic given the amount of headspace they give to independence and the troubles.

Countryside is gorgeous and you can easily drive nearly anywhere from Dublin. Would recommend checking out Causeway coast and Donegal for natural beauty. The cities outside Dublin are nice enough, but your best bet is to find some chill old timer pub and chat to folks, people are pretty open to randos chatting to em especially after a few drinks.
Also, why does Ireland make SighSee seethe so much? Is it a contrarian thing against the muh heritage Americans?

How easy is the train system to get anywhere? I'd rather not get the international license and drive hung over all over the place. Simple to use here? On a scale from American to japanese.

Same here. I ended up ripping off the bumper on my rental by running into the wall and luckily I was able to put it back together well enough to where the guy who was inspecting the returns did a quick check, meh'd, and walked away after sending me off.

They really cater to American tourists, especially noticeable in the west where the proportion of tourists to people living there is much greater. I've vacationed in Ireland three times; to be blunt don't expect anything out of the cities, use them as a base to explore the country. Make sure to see Newgrange, it's pretty cool and not too far from Dublin. There's a really good tour in Belfast that goes to the Giants Causeway, Carrick a rede rope bridge and some distillery for 25 quid , might be more expensive now. West and southern Ireland have the best rural landscapes and Americans seem to be particularly mad on the Cliffs of Moher, Galway's a nice spot to stay to see that.

Food wise don't bother tbh, Irish cuisine is the same as British cuisine, they just call some things 'Irish' to sell to tourists. The only things different are that white pudding is common alongside black pudding, and they have an extra stew. Nightlife is just pubs, not really much in the way of clubs. The fact that the biggest attraction in Dublin is the Guinness place basically spells out that you REALLY need to like pubs to get much out of the cities. Killarney is chill and in the south, never been to Tralee but that's a tourist spot. Cork is just a smaller version of Dublin, I wouldn't bother with it.
