I've been to Vegas 40+ times, almost always solo. It's a great place to travel solo. You can get a seat at the bar at almost every restaurant, from diner to high end steakhouse. Many bars are open all day and people are generally on vacation so they're in a good mood and it's easy to meet people and talk to strangers. There are tons of shows and most big bands will come through on their tours. I'm going back the first week of football season, it's going to be a great vibe on the strip.

No passport, but could get one. I do Vegas b/c it's so close, I'm in CA and it's a 1 1/2 hour flight, usually under $200. And being in a rewards program the rooms are free or ridiculously cheap too. Trip overhead is ultra low so I can spend cash on the fun parts of the trip.

I've also been rec'd Macau but with all the lockdowns over there seems risky. No way in hell I want to get locked down in fricking China.

Don't do this because hookers will see you as a mark. They look for guys to try and get you to take them your room where they will try to drug and/or rob you. I'd say try clubs but whenever I go the M:F ratio is too fricked. You might have better luck.

Excalibur is gross. The entire hotel reeks of mildew. And it's the smokiest casino on the strip. The rooms haven't been updated in 30 years. Only mexicans and Black folks stay there, so you have a good chance of getting a room next to a fricking loud ass bunch of nogs and kids. And the pool sucks. It's like an apartment complex pool with room for 30 peole, but in a hotel of 3000 rooms. Every single hotel in vegas on the strip charges a resort fee. You can't avoid them.

When are you going? I'll find you a deal. If you need a cheap room and you have a car, the Rio is going to be a better option than Excalibur. It's quiet, no lines, a good rooftop bar.

Treasure Island would be ok. not great, but ok. Planet Hollywood is the best deal going. Tons of good little place to grab food, a great pool, a mall inside, nice rooms and centrally located on the strip.

        >Every single hotel in vegas on the strip charges a resort fee. You can't avoid them.
If you have a high enough tier with the casino/hotel, you don't have to pay them.

one of the nice things about vegas, and the us, is that we are very segregated. If you have the dough, you can stay in a hotel that the nogs can;t afford and you can live in an area without nogs and Mexicans. If you came to the US and got the impression that it was ghetto, you're likely poor and you didn't get to experience the perks. If you're poor, you eat KFC with the nogs. Come back when you can afford better

Anon the nogs stay at Cosmo and Wynn now. They stink the place up with their weed and ruin everything with their shitty rap music. It's nothing like pre COVID. You can't avoid them. I guess you can thank Spirit for this with their $20 round trip flights to and from their nests.

First of all, go in october. The weather is perfect. You can hike Red Rock. And rent a car.

Second of all, dont go to a brothel. In vegas, we get handjobs at massage parlors. $40 for /30 minutes at the door and $40 for a handjob. A lot of the best food is on w spring mountain too. All the asian food is amazing, hachi, ichiza, viet noodle house, Ramen Sora, Osaka. All really fricking good.

Dont stay at Circus Circus, gold stratosphere, anywhere on fremont street, any random hotel off the strip (especially on the east side of town) excalibur, the Orelans or the Oya under any circumstance. The nastiest hotels in vegas are freemont and pretty much everything on Tropicana blvd in both directions.

Do Stay at Bellagio, Caesars, Planet Hollywood, Venetian, Aria, or wynn.

For stuff to do, area15 was rad. They had a crazy steampunk, alice in wonderland dance party going on at night. rooftop bars are fun. walking on fremont street is awesome at night, especially on weekends when free bands play at night.

Angel Park Gold Course is fricking great. You can get a tee time for less than $20. The cloud 9 course is amazing.

Small towns in Nevada are the most depressing places on earth. Total burnouts and dregs of society living in campers so they can smoke meth all day and not be harassed.

There are some rad things to do in vegas off the strip. Red Rock Canyon is amazing. Mount Charleston has some good hiking trails. The grand canyon is worth driving out to. You can rent a boat at Willow beach and cruise up the river to the hot springs and the canyons. If you're into skateboarding, there are like a dozen free 24 hour lit skateparks around Las Vegas. You can golf th Cloud 9 gold course at Angel Park for $20. You can go do the Omega Mart interactive art installation. There are also about 100 bands in town playing shows every night. The food off strip is amazing too. Those god damn Ramen places in China town are fricking amazing.

Nothing on the strip in the $10-30 range is good, unless it's In and Out burger at the Linq. Eat at the Asian places on west spring mountain.

And my favorite cheap place to eat in the whole city is nearby, the mother fricking SHISH KABOB HOUSE. Order the Chicken Lula Kabob. The Gold Coast also has a good cheap bowling alley.

Protip: There is a free shuttle to the strip at the Gold Coast. You don't need to walk. Also, Rio has a free shuttle. Or even better, just take the bus for $1 because it runs every 10 minutes.

Here's the best advice you'll get. If you're staying for a week, take out $100 bill and hand it to the clerk as they're checking you in and say "Would you be able to give me an upgrade for my room?"
It works about 50 percent of the time. They gave us a penthouse suite at the Rio for that trick.

I'm only staying for like 5 days so I'm not sure if the room upgrade tip will work. I'll def take the shuttle though. I may consider renting a car since I kind of want to go to the Hoover Dam.

Best thing is to get fricked up during the day but stay in your hotel after dark. The streets are packed with crazies and the police have given up at this point.

Any recommended fine dining for my gf's birthday? Asian, Italian, something around that.

She wanted to do a spa day, so I'm also looking into places for that

Free if you're gambling. The trick is to not lose money before your drink arrives.

Other than that it depends a lot on where you go. If its some bougie place $10. Some of the locals casinos run specials though where decent beers are like $2. So in that range. Yes that's more than the $0.50 I paid for beer in Panama.

One of the best things in Vegas is just walking the strip trying to take in the sensory overload and for that I recommend a Fat Tuesday you get a huge sugary slurpy filled with alcohol for a reasonable price

If you want to drink for cheap, go downtown to fremont street. The plaza hotel has microbrews for $1.50 every day of the week. You can also buy beer at the liquor store, pour it into a red cup and walk around and drink.

I pour my booze into those coffee cups and throw the lid on it. It's how I get liquor into the pool areas that don't let you bring in your own.

What are some must see restaurants?

The problem with eating on the strip is that rent is insane for the restaurants. So everything is a tourist trap. They dont have to be remotely good because they know you'll never come back. You pay $100 for 2 bowls of microwaved soup and some frozen chicken wings at the Gordon Ramsey Pub. The actual good places on the strip like le Cirque at Bellagio will run $400 for a meal. Look up steakhouses in Vegas on Trip Advisor and there are a ton, and every one on the strip will empty your fricking bank account. And that's why everyone just goes to the AYCE buffets. You can get legit Prime Rib at the Paris buffet with homemade Crepes and spend like $150 for 2 people. But it's loud as frick, the line is insane, and you'll be crammed into a giant room with 10,000 tourists. It's worth doing maybe once. Honestly, the best value for AYCE is probably Fogo De Chao, but you can get that anywhere.

So, you have to get off the strip. Chinatown on Spring Mountain is the breasts.Hachi, Ichiza, Viet Noodle House, Le thai. Every Ramen place on that street is amazing. Vegas has good NY pizza joints. Go to In and Out burger.

Thanks for the write up man.
I expect to get fricked but really only want to spread my cheeks for one or two serious dinners, something French or seafood.
I was looking at the buffets, there was one w/ lobster that I need to go to. blanking on the name now. Will go to one of those ramen places absolutely. In and Out burger is maybe my gf biggest motivator for going kek while I wanna go on IRL New Vegas tour.

Bellagio has good seafood for the dinner and sometimes on the weekends for a holiday brunch, but you should get there early for dinner and line up. That line can get fricking nuts. Paris and Mandalay Bay both have really good dinner buffets with crab legs and prime rib. The crepe station puts Paris over the top though. Mandalay is a little more quiet inside and not as cramped though.

Don't do the Rio seafood buffet. It was good 15 years ago, but not anymore.

Everyone fricking loves the Eataley food court in park MGM, but I haven't been, so I won't vouch for it. But put that on your list.

The Paris buffet hasn't reopened since covid started. Been closed for like 27 months now. Back in the day, when I'd go to Vegas at least once a year, I always made sure to visit the Paris "brunch" buffet, that was only available on Saturdays and Sundays. Was phenomenal. Each station had a chef preparing eggs/breakfast food according to the customs of a different region of France.

Other than that, the shit I do every time I go to Vegas:
            >Hash House a Go-Go: Best breakfast option for what's open. At the LInq.
            >Michael Jackson Cirque du Soleil show: It's the best show in Vegas. I've even gone to it alone - it's that good.
            >Gordon Ramsey Pub (inside Caesars) or Hells Kitchen (outside near the entrance): Largely the same menu. Just order the "4 course meal" and pick the beef wellington.

Ive lived in southern California for the past 13 years. I go to vegas like 4 times a year to hang out wit my best friend. Of the 100's of places Ive tried, The Gordon Ramsey Pub was one of the absolute worst. Maybe the worst. There is a psychological phenomenon where people are more likely to say they like something if they pay too much for it.

                >There is a psychological phenomenon where people are more likely to say they like something if they pay too much for it.
There is also another unfortunate phenomenon where people are more like to say they like something, even paying extra for it, if a famous person is endorsing it.

I don't think I would ever dine at a Gordon Ramsay restaurant unless Gordon Ramsay himself was cooking my meal. I would even take a different chef who has worked with him closely, maybe even one more degree of separation. I just wouldn't want to pay out the ass for a subpar meal that was made by Josh the part-time stoner, or Miguel who gets paid in cash.

                >tfw there is a Kitchen Nightmares episode where Gordon didn't cook anything at all, but plated something for a customer
                >it's Kitchen Nightmares, so it isn't even his restaurant, let alone a cuisine of his usual expertise
                >the customer's eyes immediately light up at the thought of Gordon frickin' Ramsay personally preparing a meal for her

For the hotel itself, it's nice. For everything else, there's no casino, restaurants, and is slightly off strip so it's a walk to get to and from.

Las Vegas is absolute fricking shit. So if that is the best place on this shithole planet in this disgusting universe, I give up. Is it possible to travel to other dimensions instead, somehow? The only thing that interests me these days, besides travelling the world hoping to find an earthly utopia somewhere, is that NDEs are real.

Of course, nothing, gets normies and NPCs more uncomfortable and/or riled up than the idea that near-death experiences are ACTUALLY real, and that there is good reason to think that they are and that we should take them seriously.

Here is an extremely persuasive argument for why near-death experiences (NDEs) are real:

It makes a huge deal about the fact that near-death experiencers (NDErs) are representative of the population as a whole, and that when people go deep into the NDE, they all become convinced. As this article points out:

    https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/mysteries-consciousness/202204/does-afterlife-obviously-exist

    >"Statistics collected ... show that ... among those with the deepest experiences ... 100 percent came away agreeing with the statement, "An afterlife definitely exists"."

Since NDErs are representative of the population as a whole, and they are all convinced, then 100% of the population become convinced that there is an afterlife when they have a sufficiently deep NDE themselves. The NDE is VASTLY more self-evidently real than this puny little experience of life on Earth we have now. When you dream and wake up, you immediately realize that life is more real than your dream. When you have an NDE, the same thing is happening, but on a higher level, as you immediately realize that life is the deep, deep dream and the NDE world is the real world.

Needless to say, even physicians, neuroscientists, and psychiatrists are convinced by their NDEs.

Man, I really hope there are other dimensions to travel to.

Whatever you do, do not call any service from the flyers they hand out on the street. Take my word for it. 2 days? Gamble, eat, drink walk around, shop. A week? Not much different. Personally, I don't go out at night. It used to be fun but there are so many drunk chicks and aggressive wannabe chads that it can be a recipe for disaster. Fine if you're staying in business class and up, the drunk weekend warriors stick to coach class garbage casinos. But be careful and aware if you're out at night. If you want a call-girl but don't want to call a call girl, stick to the big bar at the Hard Rock or one of the main bars at Caesars - they'll find you, if you're not a disgusting pig.

Just take it easy. Don't gamble. Have a few wienertails at the pool. Go to bed early.
