Lisbon - Portugal

Britbong planning to visit in late September for a week or 2. I've never actually visited a europoor country whenever I travel abroad, so this will be my first. How bad is the pick-pocketing situation there? Originally wanted to visit Spain/Italy but all these online vids of gypsy thieves put me off.

If you survive going out in the UK you are golden in Portugal. If you are not sure, just stay where people are and keep your personal things close to you

That's funny because I'm also a britbong and was planning a week-10 days in Portugal in late September as a cheap place to fill a longish gap between my other plans (Well it probably shifted to early Nov now)

Like most of Eurostan it's an overrated shithole.
    Like Spain, Italy, and Greece:
-3rd world amenities, can't afford air conditioning or ice in drinks
-graffiti literally everywhere. it was fucking ugly as fuck
-drug dealers fucking everywhere trying to sell you weed or coke, accidentally record them and get ready to be stabbed or assaulted
    -cops are useless

      >cops are useless
Not OP, but this sounds like a good thing since I want to hopefully get some hooker. Speaking of hookers, anyone know any good spots or sites in Lisbon?

pickpockets are literally only at the most hustling and bustling tourist squares you'll soon realize these areas suck even if there were no gypsies
you'd be fine if you're not an absent minded

I'll never understand why US tourists and britbongs only visit Lisboa. If you're renting a car and have a big budget, visit: Madeira, Azores, Chaves, Fatima, Porto, Guimaraes, Braganca. I always wear real gold and designer like a lot of people and I've never been robbed or pick pocketed. Gypsies here pickpocket really stupid or drunk people. Learn restaurant and shopping vocab to not get scammed, vendors are usually Portupoors or gypsies. Generally speaking portugal is super safe but expect more trashy sus behavior towards the south.

Lisbon is cool. Spend a night in Sintra, most people day trip but staying overnight is nice.
Nobody I went with got pickpocketed it was fine.

      >I'll never understand why US tourists and britbongs only visit Lisboa
Flights from the US are incredibly cheap, often cheaper than domestic flights to smaller airports.

That is the main reason I'm going. It's like $1k for two people. It is one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest place you can fly to in Europe for Amerifats.

Been thinking about staying in Porto for a week and renting a motorcycle and ride through the natural parks to the north northeast of Porto. I took a motorcycle trip in Catalonia last year and it was very fun, the area north northeast of Porto looks a bit smaller but easier to access. I think I needed to ride 2-3 hours from Barcelona to really get on the good roads. Near Porto it looks like you can be through their the main range/park area in 3 hours. I'm thinking 1 week in Porto, 1 week in Lisbon. How bad are drivers in Portugal?

    >doesnt want gypsies
    >goes to lisbon
    nice going brainlet
pickpockets are everywhere, drug sellers are everywhere
lots nogs and poos, not as bad in number and behaviour as paris or london, but they still do their fair share
also lisbonites are all rude, but all the people working in shops and restaurants now are hues, so at least they're nicer now
you were better going anywhere else in Portugal

just because threat of violence is low doesn't mean people aren't allowed to want to avoid gypsies and illegals and being robbed

Lisbon is way overrated and is only worth checking out for 1 day, just stay in Caiscais which is a village just outside the city, it’s filled with tourists too but at least you won’t be bombarded with noise pollution and cars beeping.

Bro, Portugal is one the safest Eurostan countries. I truly liked Porto's vibes. Kinda thirdworldy but people won't try to take advantage of you and they don't have the usual attitude other eurotards have

I honestly liked Lisbon. Like other anon said you probably don't need to spend more than a few days there though. Cascias and Sintra which are an easier train ride away. I didn't have a problem with pick pockets but one thing that was annoying is if your American or British looking you literally won't be able to walk 50 feet at night without someone trying to sell you """hash""" or """coke""". At first it was funny but it got old quick.

go to arrabida national park, it's beautiful. my friends and I did a cliff jumping and kayaking tour there through this company called Beyond Adventures. They took us to their farm and gave us homemade wine and sausage too. You would probably also be fine just renting a car and going on your own too.

is there any way to rent a car in Portugal with a new license?
It's so bizarre that it appears to be impossible.
I can't even buy a car because of course you need to be a resident to register it.

Spain is what Portugal could be if it cleaned up its act and got a job, you have not done any research if you think the crime situation is better in Portugal.

The violent crime rate in the UK is 6 times higher than in Portugal.

Really, you are afraid of pickpockets? Very easy to let them know you are aware of them, and they don't stand a chance of stealing your shit. I do it subconsciously...pat my wallet when I sense that someone is scoping me out. If my back will be turned to the sidewalk crowd, say while waiting in a line, I untuck my shirt and pull it tight against my back pockets. Pickpockets are very observant; they get the hint and have never even tried to mess with me.
