London

What are some cool things I can do as a first time solo traveller in London? Is it worth taking the time to visit another city too? (Im in london for 4 days). Any good pubs that you guys can recommend, hoping for something that is like what you'd expect a stereotypical english pub to be. Thanks.

As you're only in London for a short time you want to hit up the most fun spots, there's loads of pubs around, just head in and see if you like them, avoid anything with an Irish name as they're generic identikit pubs you find all around the world. Perhaps if you're staying central head to the punch & judy in covent garden, super central and pretty iconic, if you're looking for something a bit more exciting then close to where you're staying there's a pub called the griffin, it's an old school strip pub, decent pub prices plus you get women come around every 15 minutes with a pint glass, everyone sticks a pound in, she then gets up on stage, gets her kit off and then the next girl goes round with a glass, there's usually about 5-6 dances per hour so for £6 it's actually pretty good entertainment even if you're solo or have a few hours to kill, there's another one called browns near old street which is the same sort of deal but is more a club than pub, id give both a miss before 3pm though as you'll probably be one of a handful of blokes and it's a bit awkward being the old guy there.
For later in the evening fabric night club on a Friday night is pretty much the best night out you can have clubbing in London, it's drum & bass night and it's iconic, even if you don't like the music you'll still have a great time, lots of people go solo but if you don't fancy it jump onto meetup, there's always loads of people looking to go with a group.
If you're not around for Friday then ministry of sound is probably the most well known club in London and worth a visit, even during the week they do student nights so there's always something to do
Food wise there's loads of decent markets that during the week cater to the workers but do great food, the market bear Victoria station and borough market are ones you've probably heard about but worth a visit.
Other normie places to visit are the Churchill war rooms, Greenwich park & observatory, imperial war museum etc

Also if you like Asian food there's a place called bang bang in colindale which is north west London, it's a huge food court with about 40 different stalls with food from all over Asia, it's well worth a visit, theres obviously China town in central London but that's just a tourist trap and the food is just the same shit you'd get from your local Chinese take away.
Camden town is also a normie meme, you'll probably end up there but it's just gotten shitter and shitter over the years, just full of smack heads and muggers now, go if you must but the food and clothes there are shit tier as they know they're not after repeat business they just serve the worst stuff to 1 off tourists.
If you are after a slightly fancier meal then I'd recommend any of the Hawksmoor restaurants, they have about 6 around the city and they're all good, mid priced but excellent quality
If you like middle Eastern food head to marble arch, it's the corner of Hyde park and go down Edgware road, any of the ranoush restaurants down there serve excellent middle Eastern food and god tier shawarmas, also pretty cheap about £5 each

If you want to be surrounded by a bunch of American zoomers who get their club suggestions off of tiktok sure
On a flight now but will post some better less commercial slots to go clubbing once I land

No one is interested in your east London "wait till 11pm and call this number" hipster spot. OP is a foreign traveller in London for 4 days
            >Commercial
Is exactly what he should be doing

You know there is somewhere in between the shit recommendations you gave and real underground music events generally not accessible to a tourist right?
Why would you want to go to fabric anyway? Overpriced and get a more in depth pat down on the door than most airports
The fact you consider that "London's best night out" says all we need to know

Only tarq I can see here is you, can basically hear your gimpy home county accent through the screen it's embarrassing

A few clubs I can think of right off the top of my head that are better than fabric for a tourist are phonox, printworks and since you're so interested in east London, the glove that fits and FOLD

It's ok to admit you're a mong mate, I get that you and your finance mates went out to fabric two years ago, shared a bag and now you think you're super clued into the scene

                Nice plebbit spacing Tarquin.
Op asked for recommendations for what to do in London, restaurants and nights out, rather than helping you've decided that fabric wasn't up to your hipster standards, I guess op can take from this what he likes. For what it's worth printworks is decent but isn't an every weekend club so not really a worth it recommdation for someone in London 4 days, the other 3 I could fit more people on my back garden than you can get in them, for a 1 off night out, Fabric & MOS are still the venues of choice for tourists on a jolly, but sure if he prefers comparing beards or boring others with his extensive knowledge of craft lager then head to any of the places you recommended.
Also not that it makes a difference but the first time I went to fabric was sometime around 2003.

Quite the contrary mate, I did help by giving good suggestions and stopping op going to a shit night and getting the third degree by some aggy bouncer

                >t.londoner of 32 years
Ahhhh this explains a lot, you're some geriatric boomer still living 20 years in the past and thinking London is exactly the same as when you used to go clubbing
Your other advice was good but maybe leave the clubbing recommendations to people who don't already have grandkids yeah?

Laughing my ass off reading all this tripe.

Lived in London, went to all the clubs, visited Fabric more times than I care to admit. Honestly; London is a shithole cesspit and the moment I left that city and vowed never to return was the best day of my life. Horrible people, horrible culture, even worse youth culture, horrific prices, dirty streets, arsehole bouncers, not to mention everything is plainly fricking average when compared to most of the world, maybe Museums being the exception.

Frick you all and frick London especially.

Fabric and D'n'B in general have a much older average age than your hoxton shitboxes, although at the ripe old age of 34 I don't go as often as I used to, I've been to all of the clubs mentioned in the last 6 months and they were all decent nights out, none of my advice came from stories I tell my grand kids. People like different things, who knew?

The anti London mental illness is strong in you, rather than just ignore a thread which has no interest to you, you chose to come on here and rant about something which has no relevance to anyone. Please tell us all about all the other things you don't like

Well we clearly have different experiences then because the past few times I've been to fabric most of the people there have been student 20 and under though it sounds like that might be what he's looking for

Thanks for the advice. Not quite interested in strip pubs though.

As for clubbing: I will arrive there on a Friday, however don't think it's a good idea to go clubbing on the same day as I fly in as ill likely be jet lagged. Im sorta looking for clubs with a younger crowd (ie my age range) that'll be still good on weekdays. Thanks.

                >People like different things, who knew?
Bit rich how you're saying this after spending the past few posts discrediting every club you didn't suggest as too "hipster" and in this exact post calling other places you don't like shitholes
