that's why you stay away from the gay 2-factor authentication.
it's completely moronic for anything aside from maybe bank accounts.
you gave ZOG your phone number for every service, now receive your reward from ZOG

if you're in turkey your phone was likely stolen, not lost unless you know you dropped it off a cliff or down a sewer drain

Yeah pretty much anything requires it now, fricking epic games launcher does, shit is annoying. I experienced a mild version of this abroad when I only had a data plan and couldn’t get verification code texts to my main number, you don’t realize how many services you use rely on shit like that

That's what you get for being a gayMAN user.
This exact problem made me leave Google to migrate to an email company that has actual humans you can call in case shit happens.
Plus: Never put all your eggs in one basket, use offerings by multiple companies and keep a recent backup like suggests.

Got this happen to me, but I also got 2FA on my bank account and bunch of other stuff. The bank was the biggest issue, took like a month to sort it out. Next trip I'm gonna take a back-up phone with me, everything logged in.

just going to give you possible ideas here, as to what I’d do in this situation.

Firstly, if you’ve got cash or a card you can easily stay in a hostel. Yeah you might lose money on your AirBnB, not a big deal. You have somewhere to stay.

Secondly, I’d reach out to AirBnB, I’m sure they have an emergency contact number you can reach. Getting hold of a telephone shouldn’t be hard. Call them and let them know of the situation, that you’ve had all of your stuff stolen and have nowhere to stay. I’m sure they’ll give you the address based on your account, the relevant contact and so fourth, so long as you have the email as well as a few other security questions.

If that fails, if you booked with a credit card such as Amex, they might be able to help in situations like this. Not guaranteed, but always a major plus.

If you have travel insurance, they should cover the phone, and there’s a possibility that they could cover the cost as a result of that.

Not sure what else to add, just use common sense bro.

it's actually insane how dependent we are on phones these days. people use their phones not only for communicating, but for payments, banking, book hotels and flights, as a map, you can even use NFC on your phone to make it act as a bus and train ticket. I would be scared to death to even be 50 miles away from my house without my phone and wallet. literally what do you even do? do you just walk into a random business and ask to use their phone? who do you even call? does anyone come and help you out? crazy to think that none of this shit existed 15 years ago yet people lived life just fine. it seems like all of modern society has shifted to run on tiny computers in our pockets.

I agree, it’s my biggest fear when traveling. There’s a reason I travel with PC, apple watch and phone, occasionally yubikey. I have to work, sure I can miss a day or two, but it’s just stressful. I’m thinking of getting a secondary phone just in case. However all of this also becomes a problem, because it also makes you extra more vulnerable for theft and what not. So you have to secure all the shit somehow. I’m encrypting everything, but still.

I remember when I was waiting at the airport and the only confirmation for the plane I got was on my phone. Online check in… My phone suddenly turned off. Yeah; that freaked me out a little.

Still better to stress less than more, I don’t stress it as much as this post may sound, just be prepared.

yea theft/loss is one thing but you cant predict when the day will come that your phone just decides to crap out and die.

Is it viable to leave a phone with stuff logged in and a 2fa authorized number with my trusted family at home? Then if I lose my phone traveling I can find a way to contact them and guide them to do crucial stuff for me and maybe approve my replacement phone for 2fa

No problem as long as the algorithm doesn't decide that you need to log in again on the phone at home because of "suspicious activity" or the like.

I travel for work, and I have access to a laptop.
Don't you guys have backups of your 2FA?

Use 1pass for all 2FA OTPs.
    Make a 1pass backup recovery.txt
    Put on encrypted usb drive.
If phone gets lost / stolen / broken you just buy a new one and put in recovery key and you’re back in business.
Hope that helps other anons avoid this situation and bring peace of mind.

2FA is absolute dog shit. It makes life more annoying and is more likely to severely frick you over than, save you from hackers. Should always be optional, any company making it mandatory is israelitepilled and cucked
