Maldives Worth It?

Is it worth it to take the missus / some extended family to picrel? Anywhere that captures this energy but is more fun / interesting? If you've been, what is it like once you're there?

What country do you live in?

Maldives are quite a distance from most places and you could likely find something cheaper and closer and similar if not better.

It's worth it if you can take off a sufficient amount of time, fly a proper routing (Q suites ideally), not go during monsoon season, and can afford to eat there. I would go with my wife but I wouldn't go with other family.

Like other anons said, it's expensive and far away. Also not much to do there. You could dive (but there are better places) and do some beach/nautic sports and that's it. But for chilling as a couple it is a good place. As a (rich) family I would rather rent a nice villa instead of an overwater bungalow. If american, I'd look at something in the caribbean.

If price and distance were truly no object, where would you take the wife and adult family for 2 weeks? I thought I would prefer the pacific to some the caribbean. I'm not trying to drop a million dollars or anything crazy but I want to take the family to someplace tropical / cool enough that they never thought they would see it. We are US citizens so we can get in to most places.

I’d do St Kitts, Aruba, or St Thomas

It's St. Kitts and Nevis and the redpill on that shithole is that you exclusively stay in Nevis. You'll want Hep A and/or B vaccinations (whichever is the foodborne one) because the food quality is atrocious. Seriously, walk into a supermarket sometime and stare as the literal 67 avg IQ morons (no, seriously, look this up) freeze american fast food crap but leave the chicken, beef, pork and fish out to rot in non-refrigerated, no AC aisles. Sewage goes straight into the ocean where the fish you eat will be fished from so you'll be swimming in and eating shit. If you also don't fly a major airline in and need to use a smaller one like Winair or Air Antilles there's a good chance you will be without your luggage for days. At no point should anyone, ever, for any reason, visit St. Shitts.

Realistically, French Polynesian destinations like Bora Bora or Tahiti, the Maldives work too. Realistically it depends on what you want, full beach isolation and relaxation + a small town nearby with a shitty dive bar or two for fun or do you want good but not as private/isolated/nice beaches with a lot more nightlife? When you can specifically define what you mean by "more fun/interesting/energetic", we will more realistically narrow it down for you.

If they're are all adults and just want to chill Maldives is indeed a good option. But for such a long time in the same hotel I would be sure I choose a great one. Other options would be Bora Bora (Four Seasons is great), Amanyara (in turks and caicos). Or even rent a private villa in the caribbean or in the Med with luxury services (private chef/housekeeper, etc.)
Tbh I would be tired of staying in a hotel/resort for 2 weeks. I would be much more interested in spending a week in Havana and another week chilling in Varadero/cayo something. Or even Tulum so I could go visit some ruins every other day. Or Bali and stay a week in RC Mandapa so I could explore some sights and another week in a hotel by the beach.
But, for chilling, yes, Maldives is a great option. You should just make sure you and all your family would like to stay 2 weeks doing the same thing everyday (I do love my family but having nothing to do and been forced to see them everyday for two weeks would get me a bit angry). Even people that love Maldives and stay that much time there usually split the trip between two hotels just to have some change of air. Either that or you'll be eating everyday in the same 3-5 restaurants that your hotel offers.
Like I said, I would not do that. But if money was no object and I had to stay in one place I would really like to go to Laucala Island (hard to get to and very expensive though). If I could do as I wish I would probably do a 1 week safari in the Serengeti + 1 week in either Zanzibar or Mauritius (for more posh experience) or I would go to Thailand and spend a week in Koh Samui + a week in Bangkok seeing temples and/or in a hotel by the jungle.
If your adamant in Maldives and do not want to change hotels at least try to split your stay between overwater bungallow and beach villa so you could have different experiences.

The main reason rich couples go there is because of the privacy and crowd avoidance that is provided on most islands. If you're not big on privacy, then like others have said, there are plenty of similar alternatives that are closer to both Europe and the US and that come at a much friendlier price

Just returned from maledives last Saturday. It's rain season so prices were cheap and we had 5 days of sunshine on our 7 day stay. The place is expensive, but the resort was nice, food was exceptional and we had a nice private beach villa. If you want to relax for a few days in a luxurious bubble, do it. If you like seeing local towns, do some sightseeing and shopping, you should go to Mauritius instead. The beaches there and water sports are also great but you have options to get out of the resort and do stuff.

how much did u pay for 7 days?

also, is the rainy season getting better or worse from now onwards?

I think it stays like this. Locals said that it was unusual that it had rained for a whole day.
We spent around 5k for b&b in a "beach villa with pool" but this included flights and seaplane transfer.
Additionally we spent around 3k on activities, lunch and dinner. There are cheaper resorts available, but we wanted to go to that resort for a long time. Also, keep in mind that the prices for the room are heavily discounted due to the season.
