Manchester - England

Henlo lads, I am going to Manchester for the first time next month and would like to find out more about the place from people who know it. The two stadiums are a must see for me but I'm not sure what else there is in the city. I like Manchester bands so I assume there are places linked to them that I can visit.

What is the public transport like? Is it good value for money? I know there have been problems with strikes on English train services.

I don’t live in Manchester, I assume you’re from the UK.

The main part of the city itself is really walkable. Lots of good bars, clubs and restaurants. If you stay in the centre you won’t need public transport as it’s relatively small. Really good vibe in Manchester and probably the best out of all the big cities in the UK in my opinion (saying that as a Southerner).

The tram that goes to some of the further areas is generally decent, I haven’t found it any more expensive than similar services across the rest of the UK although obviously knows more than me.

If you want specific bar locations, I’m happy to give you some cool spots.

Nice one mate. Yeah tell me about the bars. So long as it’s not the gay village. I’m not homerphobic or anything just not into that simple as.

Northern Quarter has a good vibe. Try The Whiskey Jar, usually pretty quiet and some nice whiskies in there.

I went there in May and public transport was fine (tramway) and the week-end ticket is good value.
Other than that, I enjoyed walking around in the evening on a weekend seeing all of these slags having fun.
I enjoyed the art museum, and the huge bridge near the Roman wall.

Arndale is a huge shopping centre and alright for people watching if that's your thing. On a warm day there are plenty of English rose's on show with their tummies out which is always a bonus.
