Marseille, France

I will be in Marseille for a week in October and looking for your best tips on what to see, where to go, where to eat. Anything I should watch out for? Thanks

Yeah, watch out for the next available departure at the local airport and get on that flight at all costs. There has been no reason to visit Marseille or any part of France since the early 90s, so you're wasting your time. A great choice for traveling Europe would be to check out either London, Brussels, or even Manchester; all of which are more attractive, stable, and maintained better than anywhere in France. If you're going to London, I'd recommend checking out the double decker buses and Big Ben!

    Have fun!

Just outed as /misc/ teenager, you fell for the incel NEET memes that France was all white and clean in the 1990s.

Not that, France started turning into a massive Disney theme park for pensioners in the late 90s. Compare any video of Marseille from the 80s or early 90s to any video of Marseille since. All the charm of that land has been washed away to appease octagenarians and other fixed-income plonkers.

I don't need a video, I've been there and the typical marseille is the one from the 20's to the 50's.
You know nothing about Marseille actually.

          >Anything I should watch out for?
          Yeah, the locals.

Let's face it, the people of Marseille are insufferable

Burgers don't know what Marseille is. Or pensioners for that matter. The burger responses about France are the "too many shitskins/muslims" responses.

              >The burger responses about France are the "too many shitskins/muslims" responses
Because it's the truth, even in the "better" cities like Toulouse. And they're much worse than American nigs. The women aren't attractive at all and the mens' voices have this nightmarish quality to them, they're so deep and bizarre, leurs aboiements sont vraiment affreux. It's so fricking infuriating because France didn't need to have this problem. They all know what France has done in Africa. They know, and they hate.

It's more of an advice because Marseille is really not that good, there are much better cities in the south or Aix en Provence or Toulouse.
Then yes, the part about France and London or even Manchester being more attractive is really bullshit.
Brussels is good though, I recommend it.

Marseille is mostly rubbish. it's a Parisian banlieue on the coast. Some of it (usually away from the centre on the coast, towards the hilly area on the south) is actually quite nice to be fair. But you always feel on edge waiting for trouble.

The Camargue region round the corner is actually quite good if you are one of those nature enthusiasts that like wetlands and wild areas. Flocks of flamingos and storks and wild horses and that kind of thing. They also have the most boring tourist attraction I've ever visited, a literal mountain of salt owned by some firm that sells very expensive salt to food gays.

Marseille has always been shit but the harbour area with the old streets are quite nice. Just stick there and have fun.
And go to Calanques and Cassis which are near.
And if you do go to Calanques, then walk/hike a bit (at least an hour) and you will have your private beach.

I’ve only been to one restaurant in Marseille, which was an authentic Japanese restaurant (not run by chinks). There’s only one near the harbour anyway (Tako-san).
But I would recommend you getting something more local. Check out bouillabaisse, a seafood stew. I had it elsewhere (Camargue) but it’s typical of the area. Do some research, avoid tourist trap restaurants that serve industrial and frozen bouillabaisse.

Hi anon, I'm from marseille so why not meet irl?
In Marseille, you can go to Notre Dame de la Garde, the Mucem and its surroundings, and you can walk around the vieux port with the bars. Don't venture into the unfrequented areas and there are many traps for restaurants. For good restaurants, look for guides on the internet and you will easily find.

Go from Port Vieux until the main train station on walk. There is nothing that screams "France!" more than that.

Marseilles attrait isn't really the city itself, its the proximity to the israeliteels around it (ie : calanques, cassis, if, riou, route des crêtes, Pichauris, countryside...)

The city itself isn't very pleasant, as a general rule you want to avoid anything north of the port.
South of the port and far east ( avoid saint marcel ) is fine.
