Got gifted the Frontier unlimited pass and I'm gonna have a lot of free time this year. You can basically book any flight for $15 24h in advance. I want to see a lot of the US that I wouldn't have otherwise with this but on the lowest budget possible.
destination map. what's gonna be the cheapest way to see these? assume no schedule obligations
I'm based out of Philly so which is a hub for that airline as I understand it which helps.
if you're from the east coast, the natural splendor of the pacific north west is pretty amazing.
I recommend the national and state parks in WA, as well as pugot sound. Late spring/early summer is the best time to visit.
Sadly, rental cars are insanely expensive these days, and motels in the region are crazy as well due to all the homeless using them as subsidized housing.
>Sadly, rental cars are insanely expensive these days
How many miles are these places from the airport? I could prob get a uhaul pickup and sleep in it which would slash rental car and hotel prices. Problem is I can't bring too much luggage as it's a frontier pass, only what fits in a small book bag
>How many miles are these places from the airport?
everything on the west coast is really spread out
just as an example to go see mt rainier which is a primary attraction out of seattle, this is what the trip from the airport looks like

this is about the standard
alright damn at that point it's def more cost effective to just rent a car normally. place looks beautiful though
OP I was looking at this you're missing a few things
>price is 1400 USD
>you still need to pay 15 dollars/14.95 a flight
>only a personal item allowed free
>blackout dates as well
>seats are "whatever is open"
>routes are not always going to be ideal (example: Portland->FL might be through denver with a layover
It's good but this means to break even on frontier, you are flying no less than 20 times that year with them. It's fine but you really aren't getting that big a break unless you are really set on those specific destinations they go to.
Looked into it as well, agree with not being that good of a deal if you're actually paying for the pass. Would have been nice if they included a carry on.
The Go Wild summer pass for 400 is decent enough May2->Sept 30th. Still has some major blackout dates, but far more managable for summer prices.
I'm debating throwing my tax refund at this because I could easily see myself getting my cash back from the summer pass over having to use frontier RT at least once a month to come close to even.
I feel like the flights would be booked so full during the summer between all the pass holders and the peak travel season that you wouldn't be able to use it at all
You have 10 days before the flight to book, so you would be seen as a normal passanger unless some route specified you are standby.
It's not a bad deal if all you want is USA+some central america.
>You have 10 days before the flight to book
Only for international, 24h before for domestic
>It's not a bad deal if all you want is USA+some central america.
Yeah not at all. Hoping for some tips on how to use this without spending a fortune on hotels
First round trip with luggage turns total cost spent $540 (pass, FAA/ticket fee, luggage add-on). Starts to add up unless you choose to wear the exact same clothes every day to avoid luggages fee. And factor in transportation to/from the airport. Parking at your home airport aint cheap, and hotels near airports are boring as fuck if you wanna go exploring. Got friends to play taxi at your distination city?
I got it for free but it was $599 originally. $1400 is a ripoff but I think they do sales doe $799 regularly. Since I have it and I don't have school/work rn I might as well milk it but idk how to keep ground transportation/lodging costs as cheap as possible
I'm living in LA for school, does frontier have a bunch of flights from LAX? Sucks I basically wouldn't be getting a flight back
Nevermind I see there in Burbank which still works for me
First checked bag is about $55 each flight. Just one personal item (purse) not even a decent sized backpack for carry-on. That's extra also. You have to travel a very light or luggage costs will add up tat you need to travel a lot to make up that $599 if bought the unlimited. Not really worth it. Shitty route map unless your home is Vegas
Not sayin this can't be made to work, but not as great as it might sound when you factor in all the practical realities and additional costs. If you were to go see someone in a destination where you have clothes and can stay with them when you're there, this could be a great deal used right.
I've actually gotten away with a backpack as a personal as recently as last may, not sure if it's stricter now
yeah I made the post to see if there's any cheaper alternatives to hotels because that'd be the biggest expense. seems like the cheapest way is finding the cheapest possible car rental and sleeping in that. And having like 3 sets of clothes. I already have the pass so I'm determined to use the living shit out of it
They usually let regular backpacks on as personal items. As long as its not a big backpacking backpack you'll be fine
Oh and hotels / abnb aint cheap either. Typing this from a $250/night Miami beach hotel. Shit all 2* and up joints are $150+ these days. Especially with the bullshit resort fees.
