The problem is that even paying for half the return ticket it was still almost $1,000, so if I go back I only have about $10,000 left in savings, which is an uncomfortable cushion even in LatAm.

Whenever I leave they always tell me how they wish I was back with them, then they act like I am a huge burden. The second day I was back I told my mom that I liked our kitchen and she told me that I liked it because it “came with a maid.” She keeps it in an atrocious state besides wiping the countertops, cooks twice a week at most. Meanwhile I was living in a country where you could get literal live-in maids for less than $4,000 a year. Next time I won’t let them guilt-trip me into coming home.
