Munich

Visiting Munich on a business trip the whole of next week, what to hit?

I'm looking for museums, good clubs (techno/rave/berlin style stuff), good restaurants cheap or otherwise, and thrift locations/shops.

Thanks!

Berlin style raves are in Berlin moron. Munich is posh, rich, and not gay, thankfully. Most of the restaurants suck in Munich.

There's a huge flea market every Friday in the Olympic Park I believe.

    OP you forgot the
    >I'm gay if that matters

Good and cheap does not compute in Munich. It's probably the most expensive city in Germany where even a Doener is closer to 8 than 5€.

Munich is great for museums, I especially like the Brandhorst museum (modern art) but any of the top ones on a guide list are good. Partying isn't great but I have limited experience of it in Munich so maybe there are better spots I haven't found, but I also don't go out partying much. Definitely find a beer garden, maybe in the English Gardens park, and have a beer on a nice sunny afternoon. I'd also recommend taking a hike in the alps nearby, which you can reach by train with the Bayern ticket.

Munich is in the top 3 most overrated places in existence. Visit Dachau and then leave.

I went to Berlin and hated it. A friend recommended I visit Munich instead. Somehow, there were even more muslims there. At least in the center, it felt like it was 1:1 European/muslim. Maybe I went on a bad weekend. Haven't been back since.

Are you sure you went to Munich?

Yes. I stayed at Wombat's city hostel next to the train station. There were so many "new Germans" loitering around the area. This was around 2016 I think. Really want to like Germany, but it disappoints me every time I go through. Austria is the better Germany. I'm traveling through Berlin again in a couple weeks, maybe this time will be different

Mass stabbings at train stations happen literally every day now, but if the few remaining natives enjoy getting slaughtered I won't stop them

I mean Wombats is shit but I stay at the nearby Mercure every other week, yeah the train station area is full of trash and new germans just like in any other west german city.
The only german cites where it's no problem to stay near the train station are Dresden & Leipzig.

the most famous clubs are "Harry Klein" (avoid it on Wednesdays, when the gays summon there) and the little more Berlin-style "Rote Sonne".

Best museums are "Alte Pinakothek" (medieval/renaissance art) worth a visit for Dürer's famous self portrait alone) and "Neue Pinakothek" (19th century).
"Bayerisches Nationalmuseum" is also nice, if you prefer works of art and antique crafts.

If you like renaissance castles I recommend Blutenburg, which is kind of a hidden gem, and has a nice regional cuisine restaurant in the yard, pic related.
