Nairobi

Anyone been here? Going this summer. Anything I should watch out for to not die? Anything must-do things? Any must try foods?

Never been to Africa before. Most dangerous place I've ever been is prob Tijuana. And yah, I'm a white dude.

For cooming you're better off in Coombasa, but it's a lot less safe than Nairobi. Locals will be all over you looking for a ticket into a Western country, so don't get too attached.
I spent a week in Nairobi last year and it's perfectly safe if you're not an idiot. Nobody harrassed me at any point, but that may have been because I was traveling with a native.
Don't skip the Nairobi NP safari, there are some surprisingly nice sights but beware, white people pay extra.
Download the safaricom app, you'll need it for payments and mobile data.
I'm going back for a month this summer, (not to coom mind you) feel free to ask me about anything.

The safari is already paid for. Higher end one, multiple days with the luxury camping and shit. Def paid a premium but I hope I get amenities to match. Booked it through a white kenyan expat I know, so I don't think he's fricking me.

Spending a couple days in Mombasa too. Beach resort tho.

Also ignore the coombrain post, that's not me and I'm too scared of HIV to try cooming there.

Buddy told me to go to try the kenyan indian food in Nairobi, it any good? Also suggest any street food. I had street food in China so I'll probably be fine. Wanna try some at least once.

Don't try the street food if you care about your bowels. Vendors are known to wash their produce in sewer water. Uber Eats is cheap as hell so I'd go with that. The samosa is a must have, very delicious along with the other types of fried food. I ate a ton of those. Any dish with ugali is also nice, it's one of Kenya's staple foods.
Did you book your own private driver for the trip? It's expensive as hell but worth it in my opinion. Amboseli NP for instance is a 5 hour drive to the middle of nowhere but has some of the best views of Kilimanjaro. Pic related, some animals I snapped with the mountain in the background.

Driver comes as part of the tour, but not gonna have one in Nairobi. I heard uber is fine.

Also L on the street food. I love street food. I guess I'll try to find a restaurant that has similar stuff.

Uber is cheap and drivers are reliable and abdundant, you'll have no issues getting around.
I recommend a barbeque restaurant/brazilian steakhouse when you're in Nairobi. Kenyans love that shit.

mobile banking is huge there right? Apparently locals don’t use cash, Mpesa is one my friend uses.
Should I download an app for shit or can I use Apple Pay or something else?
      or stick to cash?

    >Any must try foods?
Only wanted to say that Carnivore is a gross meme that probably includes illegally poached bushmeat; don’t bother. Best food I had in Nairobi was all Indian and Ethiopian; traditional Kenyan food is not particularly good. Grilled meat, greens, mush. Fine once or twice but you won’t write home about it. And you will get sick if you eat on the street but bus station/truck stop canteens I have visited were surprisingly clean.

Along with Nairobi NP, the nearby Sheldrick Trust elephant orphanage is actually delightful if you want to be in close proximity to baby elephants for a few hours and a couple hundred bucks.

Don’t know anything about cooming but non-working women are likely to throw themselves at you if you’re in a nightspot, white, and either decent- or rich-looking.

The whole continent isn't unsafe. One of the safest countries in the world is in Africa but I'm not telling you which one because you're a moron

    Oh that larp thread again!

Yes, I have been there. It's not safe. The biggest threat are Somali islamists. But Kenya is very poor compared to the developed world. As a non-black you will stick out like a sore thumb, everyone will see you as a walking wallet. I couldn't take it. Honestly, I would rather date black girls back in Europe than be on edge all the time.
