Nashville, Tennessee

Planning a trip to Nashville for a few days.
Wanted to know what's worth seeing and if there's any good restaurants as well.

Day drinking, night drinking, line dancing and drinking.

Three block strip of huge bars and clubs, all of them with 2-3 floors with live music on each floor starting at 10:30 am. Fun but only fun for 1-2 nights

It’s like Vegas or Miami for me. I can only tolerate it for a long weekend and then I’m out. I went for a 3 day trip last September with my buddies and we were perpetually drunk from Friday afternoon until Monday morning. My advice would be to find a spot you want to spend the night at and get there early. The lines become obnoxious after 9pm. Growing up in South Boston, I always felt like we were just a giant town, but damn, compared to Nashville, Boston is a sprawling metropolis. Nashville truly feels like a large town with large buildings. I think a lot of people actually prefer it to be that way as it’s very walkable and manageable. Outside of the downtown area it’s all strip malls so you definitely want to get a hotel in the downtown area.

I'm going with my wife so I'm not going to be drinking.
Was planning on going and seeing some of the sites

Listen to Tyler Larson's masterpiece Nashville Noises, which he just happened to record in Nashville!

Here's my local guide, lived here for a few months. I generally like Mediterranean food, steakhouses, wienertails, that kind of thing. Also like nature and walkable areas.
12 South - Epice is a great date spot, you will probably have to get reservations since it's so small, but you can put in your names and either walk Centennial park or up the strip and see the shops. On Saturday they have vintage sellers outside.
East - East Nashville has a bunch of different neighborhoods, but some highlights are 5 Points Pizza, Pharmacy Burger, Lockeland Table, Burger Shack for late night grease, Once Upon a Time in Paris, Graze for vegan. There's a bunch of stuff on Gallatin, you go here if you want to be away from the crowds as long as you don't mind the starving rockstar vibes. I lived near Shelby Park and you can actually ride a bike on the Greenway all the way to Donelson. Worth doing on a nice day, there's a few services that will deliver bikes to you or you can try your luck on the city bikes. Urban Cowboy has very sexy rooms but they only have claw tubs which is a pain in the ass.
Downtown / Gulch - I liked 404 kitchen, it seemed to be outside the craziest parts of Broadway with good access. Bar Sovereign has good wienertails and is out of the way for most bachelorettes which is a good thing in my book. For nightlife I think the best live music is at Nudie's. They had a cover band there who would play 90s alternative hits which was refreshing. Everything is no cover, but the popular spots are the ones owned by country artists. Kid Rock's bar is a little trashier but the band is really good.
Green Hills - rich and suburban but still good access to downtown. I recommend people stay here or in east, because all the hotels within a few miles of downtown are nonstop noise from woo girls. The greenhouse bar is a hidden spot but won't be hidden for much longer.

For west, L&L market is worth seeing if you want a spot to walk around in. Wedgewood-Houston is pretty trendy right now since they put in a Soho House. The Bitcoin Mag folks have an office here so you'll like it if you are a SighSeebro. Falcon / Flamingo has an interesting atmosphere, only locals go there though.
Belle Meade - winery isn't worth it IMO. The park and houses are cool to look at but it's very steep and not casual. I think Sperry's is the best steakhouse in the area and no visitors ever make it out there. They have one in Brentwood too.
Franklin - I recommend a trip out here. It feels like a relic of a bygone era in a good way. Wholesome town where everyone is super friendly. If you are Christian this is kind of the Christian Hollywood since every Christian singer lives around here. If you are politically right-leaning, it's probably one of the few places that has a shit ton of money and also is very right wing. O Be Joyful is a great wienertail bar, but it also felt like a real speakeasy when it stayed open through the entire pandemic shutdowns. There is a group of anti-vaccine advocates that will occasionally meet in the town square. Other times it's a group that will sing Christian songs. If that doesn't appeal to you, the Factory is kind of a cool place to walk around and Harlinsdale Farm is gorgeous.

Thank you anon. This is helpful. I'm actually thinking of staying in Brentwood (some of the stuff I'm wanting to do is not downtown) so might give Sperry's a try. May visit Franklin as well

    >It's like Austin except... less
Is that the whole pitch for Nashville or am I missing something?

Used to be very affordable. That’s changed over the last few years, pretty much every Canadian bachelorette goes there to LARP as cowgirls.

No you’re not missing anything, our entire value prop is being a slightly cheaper JV version of Austin

Oh and people here like to brag about the “music scene,” even though 95% of America’s record labels are actually in NYC and LA.

    >"wow honey, look at this city, it looks like literally every other shithole city in this country!"
    >"Let's drop $5000 on an Airbnb for the weekend that has free wine!"
    >"oooh how ethnic, I see black people here and most aren't even committing crimes in the open!"
