New life in Asia

I need to get the frick away from where I currently am from.

I worked 5 years in microwave engineering and hold a masters degree. I was considering looking for a job in Asia. I'm from western europe, which means :

>no ESL teaching
>no easy visa
>competing with fellow specialized Black folks

Any advice or tips to better the odds ?

>inb4 morons telling me to give up becaue it's impossible
I've seen people pull it off in worse situations. And no, not by just marrying a local, which I sure as frick won't do. If you think ESL or marrying is the only way to immigrate to a country, you're just wasting your time. Anything positive would be welcome. As the thread goes or if someone is interested i can also share what little research i've done on this matter.

Hire a recruiter and you’ll find work. Much better salary if you can work for a foreign company and live overseas. Asia is a big continent, you should take some time understanding the different societies for what you’re looking for. Nowhere in Asia is Known for its comfy work environment. You could do ESL to get a foot in the door, try a country out for a few months and see if the lifestyle is what you want

Frick, years of research and I didn't think of that one.
      >Asia is a big continent, you should take some time understanding the different societies for what you’re looking for.
I actually lived in Taiwan and Singapore for a while a couple of years ago. I left for career reasons, but I just want back now.
      >work ethic
I'd rather work like a skynet drone than to have to deal with the slimy, lazy pieces of shit i had to deal with back then.
      >ESL
Not an option, and i'm sure as frick not working illegally.

At least in Thailand, there's always been a huge demand for microwave engineers and they'd hire any white guy who could engineer a microwave. People used to buy fake microwave engineering degrees on Khoa San Road and go working in a badly run microwave engineering center for 200 baht an hour, just enough to afford a shoebox condo, some beer changs to drink outside a 7/11 and a ladyboy a couple of times a week. They'd often come into work stinking of alcohol. And Thai women would always consider them the dregs of the expat community, you'd get ghosted as soon as you tell them you're a microwave engineer

I have nothing of value to offer this thread because I’m an overnight security guard but I hope you don’t get to live your dream life because I don’t get to live mine, so nobody else should.

Why isn’t there a fricking website where I can just pay someone to find me a worthless customer service job remotely? Why doesn’t that fricking exist. I’m willing to pay thousands of fricking dollars so some homosexual can do all the work for me to get me a job.

TTT guy strikes again, lazy moron.

nta but a lot of them still give you a residency. Even if you have to renew it, it still beats having to shit yourself over having a job or not.

Actually [...] I don't get why you think marrying someone is a bad idea as part of your life project. If you're an MSCI holder +5 years chances are you're in your thirties. It also seems like you want some kind of respectable job, so I doubt you'll be out there snorting coke off a ladyboy's ass in backwater SEA. If you're truly planning to get out, you should definitely consider that option too. Now i'm not saying that you should just fall in love with the first moron right away, but most people who stay there get married within 3 years of being there. The loneliness just gets to you anyway.

marrying a SEAmonkey in a legally binding contract which entitles her to half your networth you've been building. Horrendous advice.

The salaries are kinda dog shit tbh. SWE in general across Asia is just so underwhelming that in some places just being a teacher once you factor in housing allowance / extra holidays work out a better gig.

That's among my skills. The only thing really preventing me from applying are a few family matters and I'm renewing my passport anyway.

also quick update : i just received news that my passport's waiting for me at the city hall so i guess my timetable's changed.

Actually, i'll make this thread my diary. Tell you how things are going.

Are you going to the microwave symposium in Reston this year?

No, i got a paper in eucap this year but since i left my job i let someone else do the presentation.
Also, Glasgow is gloomy and my ex is doing her phd there
and i haven't really moved on yet.

Dont give away our top secret microwave technology to the Chinese!

For real though its pretty simple, you just apply for an engineering job and get a work visa. Youll have to work hard and get a pay cut but at least you'll get to live somewhere exotic.

From what i understood in the title, the topic is about Asia in general. There are women working honest jobs and being all around decent people in EA, SEA and SA. If they're not interested in you and all you can get are money-grabbing hustlers it's more of a you problem.
Marital law isn't all like that in every country (if it is in any), and you don't have to go with the most miserable woman in the Philippines that's the most likely to sue you for everything you've got.
My advice is simple really : "if you're in your thirties with a stable job and situation in a foreign country, finding someone to settle down with isn't shameful at all, and should be something to consider." So what if you're getting a visa out of it ? You're paying your taxes, you're doing your job.
morons always assuming the worst. jfc.

Do you have a native english passport ? All you need is a few bucks to get a TEFL certification, CELTA being up there but not necessary.
You don't have one ? Try those working holiday visa programs. You're literally an overnight security guard. You'll find it's way easier to just go there and then look for a job.

I appreciate the effort but I gotta say man, I did get my TEFL but I tucked my tail between my legs when the rubber was supposed to hit the road. I got scared. Just blew all my savings on hookers and drowning in alcohol. Anything but the TEFL bullshit. I’ll sell a frickin cars

Literally nothing prevents you from seeking employment on online teaching platforms like preply right now, nor anything is there preventing you from saving up and have another go at it. Teaching children is ridiculously easy and a lot of people post their own course material online. Frick, you could literally base it off a textbook. Who would know, 7 year old kids ?

I am an actual RF engineer, used to work in the defence sector in r&d. The company tanked during covid and i was tired of not receiving funding for shit. Bibliographic research and hopping from project to project got me bored.

We've locked up a former pilot in Australia because he got some contract work to teach basic flying skills to incompetent Chinese Airforce tards. Think he was originally USAF too.
You don't want to be doing that these days, it's so over.

            >bro thinks he's some hot shit

There are thousands of western engineers that worked in the defence sector at some point in their lives and end up working with foreign companies (e.g huawei does a lot of comm engineering), or either go on to move to a foreign country. A lot of them are software engineers, system engineers, project managers, etc. At worst, bar illegal shit, you're only losing the ability to get clearance down the line. And even then that's a very unlikely scenario, unless you've been actively working on foreign military projects.

I personally am done with working d-fens anyway so frick this.
