Could I use this duffel bag as a carry-on? I'll be traveling from Portugal to the US. Officially it's too big but I've seen people saying that as long as you compress it, you should be alright. Are airlines strict with carry ons?

Kek OP would be that guy
I really don't want to tho, that's why I'm asking
>as long as you compress it, you should be alright.
That is exactly correct. Generally speaking, malleable baggage such as backpacks and duffel bags are no problem, unless it's so packed you can barely compress it.
>Are airlines strict with carry ons?
Major airlines, no. Budget airlines (such as Ryanair, easyJet, Spirit, etc.), definitely a hard yes.
you shoudn't have any big issue see
Now, about the bag itself, it might be a bit of a meme and it is a bit expensive for what is worth. I mean.. the handles might hurt your hands and when you carry it like a bagpack too.
Sorry my ESL is strong I know
Okay! Thanks for confirming
Yeah bro, just give the airline israelites more money for no reason
From what I've seen the handles are comfy as so you don't hurt yourself with the straps when carrying heavy loads. But you're probably right, I'll probably be paying more for the brand name
Why are you so afraid of checking a bag? How about you quit being a scaredy cat little bitch?
This is my carry-on. Never had to check it unless I ended up flying home with liquids or something.
Did you get the Medium or the Small?
Medium
>North Face Medium Duffel Bag
I bought size Small in a factory outlet for like $70 and it's very worth it. Very sturdy, good quality zipers, and just one big pocket (I hate the design of Osprey backpacks).
I'm on a sabbatical and I travel using it as my carry on. Bear in mind that Small is 55 litres and I carry it absolutely packed to the limit of its volume, and it usually weights 13kg. It is also a tight fit on the luggage compartment above your head.
That being said, I think Medium might be more on the bigger and obvious side. So far, in more than 30 flights, I only had my backpack weighted and charged at the gate once, and had to pay to dispatch it.
PIC: that's my bag on the left.
I did this in Thailand and Vietnam. If you're planning on using the strap, it'll get super uncomfortable and dig into your shoulder and neck. Im just going to use a backpack next time
You can get a little comfort pad for it. I lugged a heavy duffel for months without it. Hated every second, but I'm arrogant and stuck in my ways. Making the switch to finally buy a comfort pa d for the strap was night and day.
I have the medium, went all over Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam with it. It's a good durable bag and very spacious. Probably get an extra strap with a pad, that's good advice, I will do this also.
Forgot to add, it was always carry on. I averaged around 17kg.
Apologies, I double checked the bag I have, its actually a small.
