I'm thinking about moving to Oregon. I graduate from college next year and I'm tired of Texas weather. Tell me of Oregon in general and Portland specifically.

> I'm tired of Texas weather
You will learn to love tx weather
>Tell me of Oregon in general and Portland specifically.
You have portland(shithole) to Eugene being the most jobs of the state outside some really niche other places which if you hate texas weather won't be going to.
You have little chance of owning a house like in texas
Pay may look higher but cost of living will frick you
The roads are terrible
Weather is shit 364 days of the year
You'll need a car most likely which increases the cost of living
There is no "hidden good spot" of anywhere with decent pay
The people who live down in portland migrated from seattle and now are migrating to Eugene to get away from people exactly like you and "brown ppl". They will never say it but it's there.
How many times have you actually been or just seen pics and think it's comfy? Also what job field, the market there is actually moving out due to costs so it's kinda important.
I've never been but I haven't been anywhere outside of Texas since I was a kid.
My job field would be law enforcement. I was planning on applying for one of the local police departments after I graduate, before I got a bee in my bonnet about getting out of the state.
This goofy ass niggs tryna be a Portland Cop Lmaooooo. Stoopid ass.
If you're going to be a cop in Oregon I would strongly, strongly advise you not to be a Portland city cop. Be a cop in Hillsboro, Oregon City, Canby, or somewhere else on the periphery of the metro area. Portland is full of junkies and hobos, and the local government actively restricts cops' ability to keep the peace because they're afraid of making literal schizos and heroin addicts feel dehumanized.
>You'll need a car most likely which increases the cost of living
Other than NYC you need a car in every American city
>Other than NYC you need a car in every American city
You need a car in NYC depending where you live.
>My job field would be law enforcement. I was planning on applying for one of the local police departments after I graduate, before I got a bee in my bonnet about getting out of the state.
homie you stupid do you even know if your qualifications transfer over?
Absolute bullshit. Chicago, Philly, Boston and San Francisco are all walkable cities.
Pretty much all cities are walkable if you're not a pussy
>The roads are terrible
dear god. i remember the first time i visited. the road noise. Holy frick the road noise.
>never experienced Texas weather
Y’all will have to do better to keep us out.
>own a home in Texas
You’ve never been here, have you?
>You’ve never been here, have you?
You have to be really stupid or something to not afford a home in texas that would be comparable to that of Portland->Eugune corridor. Seriously a house in texas might be ~200k but commute in is fine, in the places OP is looking at we are talking low 400's and the pay being meh above what texas would offer for skilled labor.
>Y’all will have to do better to keep us out.
Texas has some crummy weather but it's not as bad as it can be in OR once you realize yard work is a thing
Austin is more expensive than Portland
Ok maybe Austin passed Portland in the last year but the other TX cities are still cheap as frick.
Also look at salary to CoL ratio
>$300,000 is cheap but I didn't want to buy 2 years ago for $175,000
-rentoids will never learn
what the frick are you even rambling on about?
you're supposed to rent before buying anyway, and you speak as if everyone had 500K in pocket cash or as if embracing the mortgage israelite was a good idea
Ok I’ve lived here For 37 years I can answer any question (yes I realize that’s sad) I could write a novel on this place if you stay in the suburbs some are very nice lake Oswego west linn clackamas Hillsboro murrayhill Sherwood king city tualatin wilsonville
Feel free to ask me anything
Is it nice?
>lake oswego
only if you can afford a 2M house
>clackamas
loaded to the brim with pedos
>west linn
meth heads
>hillsboro
it's alright
>the rest
no thx homeless everywhere
Clackamas loaded to the brim with pedos, what??
West Linn has meth heads? More than Portland?
Pretty much everything in the metro area that isn't multnomah county is pretty nice.
you got baited, anon
Just live in Gresham to be near Portland and avoid their homeless. The weather is gloomy when you need sun the most. You've been warned.
>just live in meth central
kek, all of portland is a dump now btw literally all of it. no cops, no laws.
Oregon is great for us black folk, they got rid of all the laws that target us like traffic violations so you can do whatever you want behind the wheel and if yall got keeds in school they can't be disciplined and they got rid of math and reading standards for gradderashun because they were racist plus the governor keeps giving money out like covid relief and repertations just for black folk. In short I love oregon
Oregon is surprisingly poor
Eugene is probably the city to go to. It is not a shithole like Portland
It's not big but it's big enough there's enough going on. Good balance in size.
The weather is great
The people are degenerates
Eugene is a literal shithole
Could be right.
I lived in Eugene for several years. The rent is pretty high (though nothing close to Portland) and the homeless people are pervasive and irritating. However it's relatively close to spectacular groves of ancient trees, and the city has pleasant neighborhoods of abundant gardens and bungalows. There's a decent variety of bars and restaurants and a really impressive quantity of weed dispensaries and strip clubs. The culture of the city is dominated by "Go Ducks" University of Oregon students and a range of hippiedom from communes to co-ops and yoga classes.
>Eugene
>not Bend
my homie
it do be like that
As someone who recently moved from Portland to Texas.
DO NOT MOVE TO OREGON.
Oregon's politics is shit unless you're a leftist that loves homeless people and seeing your taxes go to useless shit.
Salary and CoL in Oregon do not match. Texas you will have 100% a better quality of life. If you love rain 9 out of 12 months then go ahead and move to Oregon. I grew tired of that.
Most of oregon is a desert and only gets 12 inches of rain per year Jose
Yeah the part where literally no one lives
> rain 9 out of 12 months
that sounds perfect for me, wow
> climate even cooler and rainier
yeah, one part of me wants to say frick it and get a programming job in Seattle. as a toronto-burbs gay I want to spice up my life
>sick of weather
>moves to the worst weather in NA
Actual moron.
Not that anon but it's unreasonable to think people can live in a place where it's constantly above 75 most the year. Anyone with a little girth under their belts will be sweating incurring swamp ass and moist pits. Besides the food is healthier there.
Americans literally be like "I'm too fat to go outside." baka
full of overweight lesbians dressed up like 1990 punk rockers and there is a roaving horde of homeless people doing drugs and shitting sporadically. only plus side is there are very few israeli vermin.
Why would anyone move to Portland when Seattle exists?
>more jobs
>significantly higher salaries
>bigger city, more amenities
>climate is even cooler & rainier
>better hiking and skiing
>ocean access
>further away from c*lifornia
I'm not even a trumptard and I thought Portland sucked. The coastal beach towns were nice though
Oregon coastline looks mass comfy.
t. Europoor who will probably never be able to visit America.
