        1. There is no price difference between cell phones in Japan. If you are looking for a used one, I recommend "Book Off".
2, Yellow lines are to separate people walking and cars. It is yellow because it is yellow that calls for attention.
        3. The best restaurants in Kyoto are Yakiniku or Ramen. For yakiniku, I recommend "Tendan" and for ramen, I recommend "Ramen Koji" in Kyoto Station.
4, I recommend going during the New Year's holiday. During New Year's, female university students work part-time.

I've heard the japanese seasons are very distinct. Are there destinations/spots/activities that are enhanced by winter? (Shirakawa-go seems very nice for example). Most winter recommendations seem focused on hokkaido, but I'm not really interested in going there. I'm mostly interested in nature, temples and general sightseeing. If you have any great kyoto tips those are welcome too. Thanks in advance

      First timer to Tokyo: Shinjuku
Second timer looking for nightlife: maybe Shibuya

I think Shinjuku has better hotels, especially the ones connected to the subway, and there's something comfy about Shinjuku station.

However if you're doing late nights in Tokyo then maybe Shibuya is better for avoiding cab fares, although nightlife sorta sucks after midnight in Tokyo anyway

There are a few. Not much though. Rolling your r's is seen as aggressive.

      Few questions.
      1) Recycling
      >I understand PET bottles (PETボトル), plastic (プラ), aluminum (アルミ), paper (紙), cardboard (ダンボール), separating lids, removing labels, rinsing bottles/cans/plastic/paper with food, and dealing with large pieces of recycling like furniture separately. What about food disposal, steel (スチール) cans, and disposable masks? Do steel cans need to be separated from aluminum cans? And if I have a little bit of food leftover like a few little pieces of ginger, how do I dispose of it?

      2) Dating
      >Only here for the year as far as I'm aware, but I'm leaving things open-ended. Should I be attending these mixers? I got an email invite to one for my sharehouse company for Valentine's Day, 3000円 for men, 20-30 people can apply, age 25+, all-you-can-drink alcohol and soft drinks + snacks. Is this a normal way to meet people as a foreigner with very limited speaking capabilities? It feels kind of unnatural for me.

A lot of people seem to think that guys are in binary situations and that geomaxxing is a completely fake concept

As it turns out, women are impressionable and the culture they are raised in largely sets their average values.

If you are white and from a good country dont you get 3 months entry. then you can try the ol' hop over to korea for a day and come back for another 90 days.
Do you really need to risk deportation and being banned from the country to get longer than that?
Also even going with your idea, i'd say your best bet is at least change accommodation rather than let on to anyone you may be staying longer than you should.

        Anonymous

If you're from a very good country you get 180 days and are able to tack on another 90 after a weekend abroad.

          Anonymous

Which countries have 180 days? I haven't heard of any countries having anything that generous, the best you can get in Japan to the best of my knowledge is 90 days for a total of 180 days in a year. I don't think they like visa runs though, it was my understanding they'd like you to do it a bit like Europe with 90 days in 90 days out. They might let you get away with it the first time I guess.

            Anonymous

Beaners, Bongs, Potato Bongs, Krauts, Mountain Krauts and Mountain israelites get 180 days.
They don't have a fixed 90/180 formula like the Schengen area, hence they usually let you in after your first visa run but tell you to stay away for a while afterwards.

              Anonymous

You mean 180 days a year, total, in two 90 day blocks?
The only Asian country I can think of that gives 180 uninterrupted days is South Korea to Canadian citizens because of a very special arrangement.

                Anonymous

No, 180 days without leaving the country once (but one visit to the immigration office), with a possible additional 90 days after a visa run.

I'll ask what the second guy asked, but more specifically: how do I get raw sex with Japanese women? It's literally right there on my bucket list. I want to creampie a Japanese woman. What is the attitude there on condoms? Are they super strict about them, or are they like Thailand, where they kinda sorta care, but not really? Do I just go to Japan, make a tinder account that says "white man looking to cum inside a japanese girl", and then start playing the waiting game? If I hold a bunch of money on the photo, will that help? I hear Japanese girls will literally do a quick jav here and there for pocket change. And I have money to spare. As for STD's, it's a gamble, but one that I'm not afraid to take.

I've traveled around Europe and the Caribbean with a fake vaccine certificate, every time they scanned the QR I just told them that it wasn't working temporarily and I already had that problem at the previous airport (complete lie). No one questions it and most of the time no one even scanned it.

I'm already double vaxxed but turns out you need 3 to be considered fully vaxxed. I'm horrendously horrified of needles, like I need a solid week before hand to calm down plus I will 100% faint during the incision, it's that bad. So are they planning on at least lowering the requirements anytime soon?

The vaccine has dubious health benefits for young people, it's entirely possible at this stage that it does more harm than good.

I recommend not getting it and just doing the PCR test to get into Japan if they haven't removed that stupid requirement by the time you travel.

why do most Japanese not want to show their faces on social media on the world stage? Unless they're a model of some sort they don't really do so online. What gives? Some don't even use social media altogether- something like YouTube. Does it have to do with their xenophobia/racism and don't want to show the world what they do?

I just realized I'm not actually bringing $4K to Japan with me kek. I'm actually bringing like $2K-3K. If I'm spending almost $2,000 for my round trip and hotel stay with a relative, then in reality I'm only bringing $2,000-$3,000. I still plan on spending a few dollars on anime shit and travel to a bunch of places in the Tokyo area for that week, so should I buy a 1 week rail pass when I get there? That way, I don't have to worry about transportation money and shit, just food, being able to go inside places like temples and other cool places, souvenirs/figures and back up money just in case things happen

    >White men are popular with Japanese women.

Is this really true? I get conflicting information every time this topic is brought up and while I'm not going to Japan to get laid, I don't want to miss out on an opportunity or, worse, flirt with a Japanese woman inappropriately and offending locals like a big American idiot.

      >Be me
      >Live in Tokyo
      >Have blonde hair and blue eyes
      It's mostly true.

I say mostly because Japanese women either despise foreigners or love them, no in-between. So if you're a white guy with blonde hair and blue eyes, you'll be very popular among the population who like foreigners. If you have black hair and brown eyes I'm sure you can still get laid, but it's easier if you are Aryan. With that being said you won't get anything if you can't talk to women or have zero confidence. Good luck.

Whenever I look, the prices never really change

There are lotto tickets which are basically tickets where they know people don't use the booked tickets or some company changed things out. Example Tour agency that normally reserves 25 seats cancelled for X week, so you can get them at discount. Completely up in the air, just learn to maximize the JR pass.

Gaijinpot is good because it lumps everything in for you as a foreigner, sure you can look and get better but most listings on the site will take people doing tourist visa's of sub 6mo contracts.

Where it really shines is basically getting someone who is okay with English, won't require a bank stamp, and will essentially take the cash up front and no questions later. It simplifies a lot for people who aren't versed in Japan bookings.

I asked before in another thread, but can you dress up to attend one of those ‘girls bars’ in Japan? Like if it’s a bunt bar, can I dress up like a bunny to then pay thousands of Yen to drink with them? Or is that against the rules? 3. What do you recommend me for accommodation? Hopefully not too expensive and I get to meet other people. I don't want a hostel to stay several weeks.

      Anonymous

      1. Fine, even knowing no Japanese whatsoever is fine. all transport is english signed/announced and pointing at food/menus is acceptable as they know you are but a simple gaijin.
      2. Good probably, some of the more extreme north or south areas (i cant remember which direction) will be peak cherry blossom in mid to late april so give that a google. But the general tokyo-osaka-kyoto journey you are likely doing is after cherry blossom bloom at that time. early may has 'golden week' which is basically the bussiest travel time of the year in japan, things will cost more, be more packed etc etc. Weather will be warm, but not hot yet.
      3. literally just look up your dates yourself, thats the only way to get an accurate idea. Also 'meet people' but 'not be at hostel' for accommodation is pretty much mutually exclusive. But you could stay near shinjuku/shibuya for quickest access to bars/clubs./other young fun people doing stuff, thats also gonna cost you more though.

Yes i have heard they really are quite strict. Potential for playing the dumb gaijin card, but its certainly a risk. a couple quick pics they'd probably let you off, videos is where they'd come to get you in trouble even as a gaijin (but probably only warn you, given your gaijinliness).
