I thought i was getting scammed at a tea ceremony in China but I wasn’t required to buy any tea. And I dated the girl that got me off the street in Shanghai for like months afterward.

Tea ceremonies are mostly scams, but teahouses are fun. Especially the ones in the interior of China. The number of teahouses there were in Chengdu was kinda insane.

    Hotel Price advertised
    "Okay thats not bad"

    After staying:
    -Accommodation Tax
    -District Tax
    -Tourism Tax
    -Plus Tip

You can avoid that by looking up prices via an European or Australian VPN.
The "taxes not included" scam is the one thing I hate about staying in the US and Japan to a lesser degree.

As a young stupid naive tourist I lost about 50 euros in Berlin (I think they were Gypsies) to a street card game.

They made it seem I was playing against someone random but I think he was all part of the act when he won.

Dude how fricking dumb are you. I went on a trip with my 10 year old nephew, who is moronic even for a 10 year old and he laughed at those games because it was so obviously a trick. I’ve always thought anyone that does them is just giving a handout to them while having some “fun”.

I got scammed by a taxi driver coming from the airport in CDMX. He took me to the wrong spot, and said that was what was written on the receipt (i paid in the airport and then just handed him the receipt). So I paid double because I was really exhausted from the flight and also there was a language barrier. After that I haven't used taxis at all and just do uber instead

I got gently scammed in Saigon

    >Arrive at 8pm
    >Grab from the aiport
    >get to hotel
    >it's closed
    >woman shows up "you want to check in?"
    >"my sister will take you to a different hotel that we own"
    >takes me to another building with the same name (turns out there are 3 of the same hotel within a block)
    >the price is [more than what it said on Booking.com]
    >"check your mail you changed booking"
    >hotel is shit

It was only an extra $15 or something for 3 nights but frick it annoyed me getting immediately ripped off within an hour of arriving in the country. In hindsight I don't even know why I israeliteed out and booked a cheap hotel.

Common bait and switch tactic in Vietnam when booking run down hotels through OTAs. You need to read reviews to avoid places like that.

What do you consider being scammed? In Thailand cab drivers won't turn on the meters and a 200 baht taxi ride becomes a 500 baht taxi ride. But it's still paying $15 for a taxi ride that would cost $30+ anywhere else in the world. So while technically I'm being scammed, the taxi driver is only scamming me so he gets a reasonable wage for his labor.

      Anonymous

      >reasonable wage for his labor
The cost of living is a lot lower there. Charging even half of what we pay in the west is not a reasonable wage. The local rate is reasonable relative to the cost of living

        Anonymous

Okay, but why? Why is US money worth more than Thai money? And why should I care if some dirt poor Thai man tries to charge me a couple of dollars extra when he's driving me around town? Gas sure as shit isn't cheaper, and at the rates they're charging for "legit" services is barely above what it costs in gas.

          Anonymous

You are ruining the market by artificially inflating prices in the service sector, resulting in higher prices and/or lower supply for locals.
it's like throwing trash in the street, sure it won't affect you but somebody else will have to pick it up eventually.
It's okay to pay more than locals but keep it within limits.

Unless you have an abnormally large dick, standard-sized condoms shouldn't feel "too tight," even in an Asian country. She probably used an XS-sized condom on purpose to make you feel uncomfortable and finesse you into paying extra for bareback.

If you're worried about STDs, you probably won't experience any symptoms until about a month later. The food poisoning could've been actual food poisoning from something you ate, or it could be a "negative placebo," ie. you had lingering thoughts after eating her out, and your body made you sick because you think you might be sick.

        >standard-sized condoms shouldn't feel "too tight," even in an Asian country.
No this is wrong. I've been to Thailand. The condoms they sell at the stores are too small, you have to actually read the packages and find the right size, the standard size they sell is 47mm which if you have an average BWC then it will feel way too tight and most likely snap.

I guess it’s not food poisoning, I just had like super diarrhea for like a few days. Now it’s gone. That shot about it being in my head also sounds true.

You definitely overpaid. You said you paid *extra*, implying that you already paid something, then paid another 2000 on top of that. The standard rate should be 2000 all-inclusive. You should not be paying extra for anything, even if you're doing bareback or anal. They're just supposed to do that by default.
