Once in a while we will discuss the cute ones—she likes to identify girls she thinks will be my type (I never thought I had a type until she pointed it out to me, while we were traveling in Istanbul). But it’s nothing threatening and I really don’t want to cheat.

This isn’t really my problem; I am happy just fricking the one girl, with randoms confined to fantasy. But again, very long-term, committed partnership in my case. I think you want to be monogamous or you don’t. If you need to frick lots of people to be happy, you belong in an open or non-committed relationship, and she needs to know it. If you are not on the same page this relationship will fail whether you stay home or travel.

Sounds like you probably can’t. But maybe you will change your mind. If you’re talking about cheating with hookers you may discover that it’s not actually all that—I know that when I was living in Thailand I learned that paid sex is a huge turnoff for me, and found the sexpat scene really depressing. Living in Thailand can be a lot of work, even without being an uncontrollable horndog who plans to cheat on his girlfriend. Doing it while breaking some chick’s heart and getting dumped does not sound like my idea of fun.
