>be lone tourist
>going to Istanbul
>second day after the flight walking in the main square
>some guy approaches me and says something in Turkish
>I told him I am not from Turkey
>he told me I look Turkish
>he asked me if I am alone, I told him yes, he said he met some nice hot single girls at the bar nearby and asked if I was interested
>I am a virgin so I thought this was finally the moment to get my dick wet
>in the club we are met with 3 girls and the waiter serves us all beer
>this is it, I am about to get my duck wet
>the girls look like they have fun at my convo
>the guy that invited me got up and went somewhere and never heard from again, oh well, I order another round of beer for the girls
>after like third round of beer the girls suddenly get up and leave and I am left there all alone
> I ask for the bill
>36000 Turkish lira!
>what the frick
>I ask to see the menu and the waiter showed me that beer prices went up to 2000 Turkish lira
>I didn’t have that money with me so the big bouncer escorted me to the atm to pay up
>I paid him
>next day I left Istanbul never to return again
This is a super common scam. And you just let it happen.
Get rekt virgin beta. It's literally because of retarted homosexuals like you that these scams exist. You are pathetic and I have no sympahty. Don't forget to sage this stupid thread.
Pretty sure this is bait, but I know this is a common scam, so surely it must work sometimes? In a scenario like this I would just run away.
>so surely it must work sometimes?
intoxication
It almost happened to me in Valencia. I didn't know how this scam worked but I felt the bad juju. Actually I think they were trying to drug me and empty my cards.
I was walking around downtown Valencia at like 12 at night by myself. This Ukrainian guy says hi. He looks scummy but I'm bored and willing to meet anyone. He's actually really likable and says he know "This bar" which already gave me a bad feeling. Where they failed is that they took me to the worst looking place in the entire country. It looked like a cheap prostitutehouse.
He opens the door and there's two mobsters and 4 prostitutes on a table. I do a 720 and nope the frick out of there and I can hear one of them say: Go get him. I felt my stomach sink, I thought some war criminal was coming for me, but a regular prostitute came out and called me back in. I just walked away.
If the place looked a little better. A little more normal. I would have probably sat down and ordered a beer. After I got back to my hostel, I googled a little bit and discovered they had been scamming people. One canadian guy got drugged, taken to a room upstairs and his card charged 3000 euro. This homie came back to the place the next day, tried to get into the bar by climbing through the second floor and fell. Broke both legs.
This is a super common scam everywhere but North America.
It happened on South Beach about 10 years ago.. Eastern European hotties would pull guys at the regular clubs, invite them back to a "private bottle club" for drinks, and then be out big money when the tab came. Ivan the door man made sure payment was made.
>Turkey
>beer
Bait
Cope
>Cope
It's why Americans and Canadians fall for it. They aren't used to it.
my friend got kidnapped in new constantinople, after several hours was taken to an atm, just threw the equivalent of 20 dollars onto the ground and ran. Running is always an option unless youre in america or similar
This is literally the most common Istanbul scam there is
i can't believe you would even tell this story over the internet. i wouldn't tell anyone about this ever
Istanbul is a city filled with scams.
please to anyone going do some research. Its a great city but there are scams everywhere. Know them. Its nothing personal so just recognise and stop once you notice. You will have a far better time.
bro come on
never mind the money, the dude just insulted you like that saying you look turkish and you still went with him kwab
>talking to strangers
serves you right. You normies will never learn
>he asked me if I am alone, I told him yes,
FRICKING moron
don't feel so bad the same happened to me except a little more elaborate, and it only cost me the €20 that was in my wallet and almost a beating. just run lmao its taksim square there's loads of police and people they won't do shit
Could've been worse. you could've gotten the Belarus ladder scam happen to you.
>you could've gotten the Belarus ladder scam happen to you.
what's that
Generic ladder scams work by some dude needing help and you climb a ladder to help him and while you're climbing, a dude comes and starts shaking the ladder saying to pay up. That's the Hard-core version - the simpler one is removing tbr ladder when you're at the top until you pay.
kek thanks for keeping this alive anon, its good to see some oldgay realtravelers on this board instead of SighSee crypto millionaires and coomers who havent left their flyover state.
This scam isnt exclusive to Turkey OP. Sorry to tell you but its your fault not the countries. You shouldve seen the scam coming. No one approaches strangers like that with good intentions
Absolutely fricking shameful. It's well known that people approaching you is the number one sign of a scam. If you ever need help most people will help you after YOU come to THEM. Even if you want to take up a rando, shit like "come to this bar" is easily avoided if you mention that you'd prefer to pick the place instead.
I actually managed to get a lone good interaction from a random approaching me in my lifetime
>be me
>at Universal Studios with gf
>had just park hopped from Islands of Adventure and entered at around 5:30pm
>a few hundred feet past entrance a rando approaches us
>think "whats the fricking sales pitch, what does he want me to buy"
>holding some paper in his hands and tells us about fastpasses
>"oh so he clearly is a park employee trying to sell us fastpasses or a dude who spent them and is trying to scam and sell us useless paper"
>tells us he bought a full, endless fastpass for him and his wife for both parks and he was done for the day
>wants us to have his passes for free
>straight up gives them to us and walks away
>decide to test it at a ride
>mfw it actually worked and no scam was had
Genuinely could not believe it since I was so sure it would be a scam or sales pitch in one way or another. Moral of the story though? Still needed the skepticism because that shit is a lottery win and would 100% be a scam at any other instance.
pretty much this, if approached assume the worst every single time
>It's well known that people approaching you is the number one sign of a scam.
This.
>wearing OSU ball cap
>hear "O-H!"
>turn around see guy approaching me "I...."
>C'mon man, you gotta finish it. Where in Ohio are you from?"
>"I'm..." wait. i know this one. "NOPE!"
>continue walking while scammer turns attention to his next mark "Yo my man! You bet on the river yet!?"
>grab a quick look and someone is wearing one of those HOME shirts for alaska
Scammers will know most regional traditions and use that to get you to stop.
this is the oldest scam in the book
and your radar didn't go off if he asked if you were alone. Also, drop $100 bill if you're a pussy and run. They wouldve been thrilled.
You basically got scammed, kidnapped, and robbed all in one day. jfc also Turks are the n1gg3rs of the MiDdLe EasT would never go there even for a free hotel also will NEVER fly Turkish Airlines btw
At least you aren't me
>Match qt asian girl on tinder
>We talk for a day and she says shes planning to visit the city Im in within a month
>Decide to talk on telegram because using tinder is annoying
>We talk for literally 15 days, all day every day
>I work night shift so her schedule matches mine and works out well
>put all pictures I ever receive from her through tinyeye to be safe, no results
>She occasionally sends me voice clips, even when I just ask with very little time between
>actually start to get real invested
>She starts mentioning crypto, and a coin shes invested in
>sends me a link to its website were I can read about it and shit
>website is garbage and very sus
>through her images into the google reverse image search, immediate results
First take away is to not trust tinyeye anymore, but god damn did this suck to find out. It actually crushed me.
>also a lone tourist
>in Sri Lanka
>random rickshaw driver tries to shoot the shit with me
>offers to take me to a nice night club with cheap drinks
>apparently lots of beautiful Sri Lankan women hang out there
>it was 10:00 am
>there is no such thing as a night club that's open in the morning
>there is also no such thing as an attractive Sri Lankan woman
>not even a moron would fall for this scam if it's this poorly set up
>random guy brazenly approaches me
>"psst, hey, you want some cocaine?"
>I don't do drugs, so I politely decline
>"how about some weed, man?"
>"if you want, I can set you up with a girl"
>this happened in the Red Light District of Amsterdam, where weed & women can be easily found in a very, very short walking distance
>this happened in the Red Light District of
anywhere. Over here (Hamburg) only Burgers fall for it. But best is a transvestite bar. Normoes can't tell them from real woman and i saw a lot of irritated man coming back after 5 minutes "going upstairs"
>random stranger comes up to you and asks if you're alone
That should have been the main red flag right there and not the one where he showers you with beautiful women but alright.
Always lie when a total stranger asks if you're alone. You only ask someone that question when gauging their vulnerability.
Happens alot first time solo traveling in Greece I was talking to a guy and he asked if I wanted to get a drink and pulled the same shit but I knew better as soon as I saw the place some chick tried grabbing my dick I said sorry I'm gay and left
>in Greece
>I said sorry I'm gay
Oh no. That was a very close one, anon.
How about I just ask them for a 50 dollar hooker like a rational human being?
I usually hear that they try to present it as a "traditional tea ceremony." I do not believe for one second that the modern Chinese are capable of something this classy, so even if it was my first time hearing about this scam, I probably wouldn't fall for it based on that assumption alone.
I also don't fall for women being overly nice to me, because I'm ugly and I know what my limits are. No woman is ever nice to me unless they have an ulterior motive. My personality is far from perfect too, but I didn't need to tell you that.
The only con I actually fall for are elderly people who butter me up by telling me I'm "strong" or "muscular." Then I end up moving furniture for somebody's grandma. But it's okay, because they usually end up making me lunch or snacks.
i already commented saying i cant believe you would even tell other people this happened and so im coming back to voice my disbelief for a second time. i would never tell anyone, even strangers on the internet this happened to me.
it reveals a pathetic level of desperation and delusion on your part that should be kept to yourself. any random guy that approaches you when you're alone is already extremely obvious that they want to scam you or get something out of you. what business does any non-homosexual man have approaching another man who is a stranger if not to initate a scam.
whenever non-white people approach me i immediately, and i mean IMMEDIATELY prime myself to prepare for violence
hey man dont get all to upset, what happened happened. You should stop thinking about that and most importantly, drop the shame. Just release everything and let all go...
What they said to ur dad after u wer born syke
Gottem!
It used to be very common in shinjuku, untill the Tokyo municipal cleaned it up in preparation for the Olympic. Not sure about now though.
Then those frickers just moved to shibuya.
They're being too hard on you. Once you are aware of this scam it seems obvious. You learnt your lesson and 2000 as a price is better than a stabbing. It might have saved you from a worse fate in the future.
Similar situation to me in Manila. 1 girl says 1k for short time + room. I naively agree like a moron. All of a sudden 5 girls show up and start fricking me. They have you lie face down or makeout with you so your distracted and they title through your bag. They took my phone and extorted 20k peso from me. The money is whatever but the there were red flags throughout the entire encounter that I fricking ignored. Oh well, better to she'll out $500 than have 5 local girls size me of rapid or something. It's their new word against mine and as a foreigner forget about it.
Accuse me of rape*
Did you at least cum or did they gtfo as soon as they got your stuff?
>he asked me if I am alone, I told him yes
Imagine being so fricking stupid you travel across the world and then tell a stranger you are alone.
>I am a virgin so I thought this was finally the moment to get my dick wet
Genuinely sad and pathetic.
Is this even legal? I mean, no matter where I go, I assume a beer would cost me like $10 if I go to a quite fancy place, so I never ask for the price. Actually, I don't know anyone who does. It would be kinda weird. Now I'll be worried from now on
>Is this even legal?
If it isn't, what are you gonna do? Tell these Turks surrounding you, "Excuse me, gentle sirs, I do not believe this is a valid price for this beverage. Let us consult the local authorities before resolving this transaction!"
I think it's mandatory to clearly state the price of everything before ordering, be it in a menu or a blackboard clearly visible from the bar. At least, that's how it works in Spain
How does it even matter you grandísimo gilipollas, te están timando, qué les va a importar si hacen algo ilegal? Estás bien tonto
Si es ilegal, te niegas a pagar y te piras. Si tu eres tan surnormal para quedarte, te mereces que te timen
>"Excuse me, gentle sirs, I do not believe this is a valid price for this beverage. Let us consult the local authorities before resolving this transaction!"
Yeah that's exactly what you do.
You beat me up? I go to the cops and bring them here.
You kill me? enjoy your homocide investigation.
You let me go? Nothing happens, pick somebody else.
The scam works through terror and anxiety, they don't actually want to hurt you or worse, because it starts a shitstorm they can get swept up in.
In these types of scams, you simply stand your ground till they toss you out of the establishment. You might get scuffed but you'll be fine, and your pride will still be intact.
How old are you? If you’re in your twenties and are still a virgin, you’re presumably not the kind of handsome devil that would make three strange women laugh at your biting wit.
You were really that blinded by the mere possibility of getting a glimpse of pussy that you didn’t, for one moment, think something fishy was going on?
Get some situational awareness, Jesus Christ anon. Consider this a learning experience.
I had exactly the same man, except the guy asked for a cigarette lighter and so the conversation continued. His english was really good and he offered to go to a hookah bar first (WHERE HE PAID FIRST) so the credibility increased, after that he suggested me to go to a bar with ladies and it’s there where i got fricked: 700 eur bill
