Short Term Renting in London

I'd like to rent a 3 bedroom house in Mayfair for 6 weeks next year. I know there is AirBnb and such, but is there a good company that is locally based to speak with? How do you find short term rentals in London?

On the offchance you're rich and genuinely don't care it'll cost multiple years worth of typical salary, estate agents will offer short term lets and you'll be able to find them on rightmove.

Personally I'd rather have an extra £30k in my bank account and stay in another, almost as nice, part of central london

What are the other nice parts of central london?

I am wealthy, but, I mean I'm open to all kinds of suggestions. I just aid Mayfair because that's what I know and where I spend most of my time in London.

Kensington on the opposite side of Hyde Park is a nice area with some very nice houses and if you look for Georgian houses, you can get a full on Mary Poppins town house. Should be significantly cheaper than Mayfair with similar levels of luxury in a rental.

Covent Garden is a great location if you want to be "in the action" so to speak. Shitloads of theatres, bars, restaurants etc.and it looks like there are some nice, large places around there.

There's Notting hill and Shoreditch for "used to be where normal people lived then because hipstery and gentrified". DO NOT STAY IN NOTTING HILL WHEN THE CARNIVAL IS ON.

Always check the street a property is on to be sure you'd be happy walking it at 1am. Only ever takes a couple of turns in London to go from streets that feel safe as frick to ones that are intimidating (lots of the most upmarket streets in central London are protected invisibly though, especially if they've embassies and diplomatic homes on).

          Thank you.

Is Kensington all safe? I think I've spent time there and remembered it that way. I don't need tons of action right next door, I'd like some restaurants around and a nice pub to grab a beer. Something comfy.

It gets eerily quiet but it feels safe when I've walked down at night. Helps having random properties with armed men outside.

You won't want to walk Hyde Park in the dark but there's a safer path around the edge.

Pubs are everywhere in London and there's loads of places to eat, especially on Kensington high street.

That surprises me, I thought Hyde Park was very safe 24/7. Kensington is Harrod's neighborhood, right? A lot of embassies?

Harrods is Knightsbridge, down the road from Kensington. I highly recommend the Elephant and Castle pub for food, it's just off of Kensington High Street

Try airbnb if not ask around on some London based forums, offer to become a "rent boy" for a few weeks, its not comfortable but its cheap and easy.

Hampstead, Belsize Park and Highgate are the richest neighborhoods in the UK. Hampstead heath and the swimming ponds are amazing, and the local pubs are great for celebrity spotting (although I've seen Bill Nighy the most, and always on Piccadily). Rent is cheaper in north London too.

Seriously, Mayfair fricking sucks. Nothing interesting there.

Thanks for this, very helpful. How are the travel times to Mayfair and the financial district from these? That's mainly where my meetings and such are.
