Should i stay with my wife for one more year to get Permanent Residency in Japan?

Started to resent her and dont see it lasting, want to go home really badly for a while. However im only one year and 4 months off of being able to get PR.

Im 29. Is it even worth it? What would this benefit me over just going as a tourist if i ever wanted to go skiing or something? I have no degree so work visa will never happen but i dont think i ever want to do that anyway.

Is there any real reason to get it? I’d have to put up with this for over a year despite really wanting to go home

frick off incel. you have no idea what i put into this relationship and what a complete fricking inhuman b***h she has been. i spent way too long thinking i was at fault and i finally had enough and reached the limit of what i could take. if i end it today, she is much much better off in every way than we started, while i sacrificed so much and gave so much and will e worse off than when we started.

The more i think about it the more i agree... Permanent Residency would be great to have... but i already feel depressed. I also dont want to string her along despite how much of a c**t she has been to me.
Above all can i take much more of it? Not sure, and even if I can long enough, I get to feel bad about stringing her along even if she "deserves" it.

Depends if you want to buy property in japan or not if yes just endure it for a year. Also PR is great as a tourist.
Some places are forbidden for foreigners and you can bypass that if you happen to have permanent residency (you'll still have to talk your way in though, better than being straight up rejected).

i speak N2 basically enough to do whatever i need to get done.
The only benefit i can think of over tourist is renting a place if i ever wanna go back for a while. you can get some 1 year contracts or even 6 months with PR but you cant rent anything but air bnb and maybe LEOPLACE as tourist and it can be expensive.... and no option to rent some shack in a ski town for a winter... but whos to say i care enough to do tht anyway?

I do think of taxes as PR, if i spend too long in home or Japan it will definitely get confusing with the general 181 day rules.

Keep at it bro your home country doesn’t want you and we both know you got into the relationship for the permanent residency mainly. Don’t knock her up and keep strong tbh

Originally i didnt even want it for tax reasons, was just gonna leave if i broke up or stay on spouse visa.. but i learned very recently that it makes no difference so no reason not to get it.
She has taken so much from me and i have given so much i want to get at least something out of this if i can stick it that long. otherwise i come away with basically nothing but a useless language i'll never be able to use outside here

Id say its definitely worth it to duke it out 1 more year to get a 2nd residency there. Especially if youre from USA, Canada, Western Europe etc. It'll be a good investment as these countries are falling apart at the seams and may not even exist in 10-20 years lol. Especially the US. That country is fricking done.

Always good to have an escape/backup plan

The USA & Canada will exist. I said the same shit 10 years ago. Maybe not 50 years, though.

You no longer have to renew or extend your visa. The status of Japan Permanent Residency is valid indefinitely.
You can work for any employer you want, and you don’t have to apply for a change of your residency status if you will engage in different activities.
You can get a loan from a Japanese bank.
You get better access to public housing.
People would easily pay $50k+ for this level of accessibility.
    >I have no degree so work visa will never happen
Once you get permanent residency you don't need to get a work visa to work, you can just work wherever.
    >I’d have to put up with this for over a year despite really wanting to go home
Are you allowed to do a short term visit home and then come back and still get PR? Maybe some time away will do you good.
Whether you can or not, either way you'll be kicking yourself down the line if you don't get it. It's only a year and 4 months, getting PR opens way more doors, even in perhaps a situation where you want to retire and it's unaffordable in your home country.
    >Started to resent her and dont see it lasting
You don't have to stay with her, do you? Could you just live somewhere else? Or you could "stay with her" but actually just sleep in various hotels or a separate apartment or stay late at work and go out like the salarymen do?
Also when was the last time you two went on a date? Women need shit like that or some drama or else they get annoying.

Leave. Leave now. Get away from her. It WILL get worse. You’re at an age where you can salvage your life so please do anon. Don’t risk wasting time and divorce rape…plus all the other hellish things she can put you through. Maybe if you truly loved her you could stomach it and work it out but that’s nigh impossible anyways. Best of luck. Godspeed

    honestly, no
most itll do is let you set up your own bar or cafe, which you could do on a marriage visa anyway
not to mention you're not even eligible to apply for residency unless you earn over 300,000yen a month, which almost no company will pay a foreigner that much because then they're forced to give you actual worker's rights, pay for your healthcare, sign you onto a permanent contract etc.

if you have no kids and no job that you really like tying you down to japan then leave, that shit is too much to deal with just for permanent residency in a country where you already don't see a future for yourself.

She is Filipina but a Japanese citizen, I am Black. We met at a juicy bar near base when I was in the service. The relationship has changed a lot. She doesn't like me going out to the bars or clubs. It tys me down and restricts me. She won't even let me speak to other women and is super jealous. I hate it.

IME you probably arent goin to find a wife who isnt nuts unless you are fluent in japanese and meet a japanese normie woman. unfortunately they come with their own cultural problems.
Every single guy i know here who got married to an English speaking Japanese women turned out horribly for them.

its not like i dislike japan itself, just my life here with her. after a while home i could see myself going back for at least a temporary thing.

High skill work visa makes you eligible for PR after a year. But college is a israeli scam and nobody here can pass N1 so good luck.

yea, technically speaking all you have to do is to be able to get a job in japan and pay all the pensions and taxes without problem for x amount of years, getting married is just easier, although i'm not sure how would that be count on getting PR since if you're on student visa, the years spent as a student doesn't count for PR
