Does pic related really work to knock you out during a long flight?
I usually get drunk on long flights but it doesn’t seem to make a difference; I still can’t fall asleep, even in business class.

It's okay to be uncomfortable for a little while. You don't need to medicate yourself just because you are experiencing transient discomfort.
wow so smart and cool anon! your reply was probably exactly what he was looking for too!
please kys
I also recommend this .
Or if you really, really want to take something, better take eg. loratadine (Claritin). Cause it does also make you drowsy, sleepy, decreases discomfort. But it has a less serious side-effect profile than other drugs.
I do not recommend taking it if the flight is less than 12 hrs. It's interesting to observe people who drugged up themselves for the flight, and then they can't get to their destination cause they're lost at the destination airport. I would attempt to help them, but they can't even clearly speak.
Security doesn't care about legal drugs, they are too worried you'll die in-flight if they confiscate them. I always have large bottles of legal drugs (like thyme syrup) in my carry-on, literally no one cares. They might do an "is this coke" check on it at worst, but it's not, so you can just take it on board.
>Security doesn't care about legal drugs,
bro OP posted a bottle of liquid over the allowance for a single bottle, they will care. Not that it's a drug but it's a liquid over the allowance.
fucktard

Just like melatonin, no these don't KO you like people think or how TV portrays it unless you're literally a human skelly and drink half the bottle.
What they do is help you fall asleep and often stay asleep when you are somewhat drowsy but not just able to sleep. You're actually better off taking Tylenol or Advil PM in most cases as it's both a pain killer and sleep aid often making the position you are in a fair bit more comfortable. They are also easy and can go through security without issue unlike liquids
Diphenhydramine will knock you the fuck out within 20 minutes. It goes by Benadryll in the USA. Benedryll in Europe uses some non-drowsy antihistimine.
Who the hell actually gets knocked out by that shit, it can make you a little drowsy but that's about it. Do you also get drunk over 2 beers?
You build up a tolerance to it very quickly. That's why its useless as a sleep medication. But if you haven't had any in a few months, then it will knock you out.
I use it maybe once a year or so if I have a wonky work schedule, it barely does anything unless again you are a lightweight to all medication.
>Diphenhydramine will knock you the fuck out within 20 minutes.
Yeah if you chug the entire bottle of it but so will vodka. Anyone with a relatively adult sized body will just get drowsy and at that point you might as well take melatonin or tylenol PM.
Just eat a pot brownie or just take some pm pills with a large glass of whiskey
Yes, one of the active ingredients in NyQuil, the antihistamine diphenhydramine, has genuine sedative effects.
But better to take a preparation with just diphenhydramine (Benadryl, Sominex, generic pink tablets) if your goal is to fall asleep, especially if you intend to combine it with some alcohol (which isn’t actually a good sleep aid—while getting wasted can definitely make you pass out, at least for a little while, it’s terrible for sleep quality, and you wind up with little if any deep REM sleep, and airborne hangovers really are worse than terrestrial ones because most people wind up dehydrated when they fly). It’s never a good health idea to consume medication you don’t actually need (in this case, the cough medicine and painkillers in the NyQuil), and NyQuil in particular is full of acetaminophen, which is much more dangerous in combination with alcohol than people like to believe. It’s easy to shrug off health/side effects warnings on medicine labels, but alcohol in combination with acetaminophen (Tylenol, paracetamol) really can be seriously, permanently, and even fatally damaging to the liver.
A small amount of alcohol with diphenhydramine without any other medications and a lot of water used to invariably put me out. May wake up quite groggy, though, and as others note, it may not be worth it. Sleeping without drugs is always better sleep than sleeping with them if you can pull it off.
I use this stuff and three glasses of champagne for my monthly 16 hour goddamn flight. Knocks me right out and I sleep most of the way.
This is just like those idiots you meet when travelling who brag they are going to pop a valium every time they have to take a 4 hour minibus somewhere.
Just deal with it.
When I was young I used to buy a box of Codeine at the airport and pop all 20 before getting on the flight. Good days watching the little fluffy clouds pass on by out the window.
How can I sleep when I know a child is crying on the plane?
