So after doing some research it seems that even the cheapest hostels and food in Germany are uber expensive.

I will be spending 35 days this winter in Germany, is 3k euros enough to get by for that long?

I can go anywhere in the country but would prefer Stuttgart.

A motel 6 in USA will run you $90 a night. Hotels in Europe are fricking cheap and good value. I stayed at 7 different hotels in switzerland when i was there for 2 weeks. Booking.com is your friend. What the frick did you expect? Germany isn't Africa . Pic related

You'll spend the whole 3k just on your room. You'd be better off going to prague and looking for a month long rental in the 500-1000 range. Food and beer is significantly cheaper.

Since you're spending > 1 month in germany i would recommend you to find a 'Untermiete' WG- Room (subletting in English) the winter semester is about to start and a lot of students doing a semester abroad are subletting their rooms for that time. That would mean that you would be spending the time more or less, in one city. But maybe you can work something out like 2 weeks and then find another place. try the site 'wg-gesucht(dot)de'.

So cool! Made an account with them will do more searches soon.

Couchsurf (obligated to do sexual favor) it's free.
Btw visiting this winter is kinda dumb. It's prohibited to light shop windows, any sort of monuments etc. past its opening hours. And almost everything of interest closes at 18:00. Stuttgart isn't a city for christmas markets either.

I will probably not be out much after dark as I will be spending a majority of my time studying and learning German.

I am not interested in touristy things like markets or museums, I just want to speak German and Stuttgart looks to be a place where people don't default to English like Berlin or Hamburg and are also open to speaking with foreigners who may stumble with their words.

What's it like living in the Breaking Bad state?

Was okay, back in 2010 it was legit the best state, cheap land, low crime and so much opportunity in film and other industries.

Now things are bad, looming water shortage (Thank CO), non-stop methheads and tent cities, tons of crime from mexico, the most moronic drivers, and crime was basically legalized due to a fair-bail law.

Had to move apts because some cholos were fricking with everything on our street, went from paying $500 a month to $1000+ a month.

Bro where did you make that up, this close to Heidelberg and the largest eu american military base in Kaiserslautern like 100km near you?
Everytime I've been approached anywhere near Rhein-Neckar region they started with english first despite being german, because of all the tourist and little to no locals.

99% of the time, Germans are ahead of the curve, and this time is no exception. Light polluters should be gassed.

I was in an expensive city in AZ when I was a kid and they were trying out a uber-environmentally friendly thing.

They banned light pollution, made tons of animal crosswalks, and made it illegal to call animal control over native species.

Was so magical to see deer and quail just enjoying life next to people walking their dogs.

Of all the places in Germany, why Stuttgart?
Oh well. At least you aren't dreaming about Kassel, Gelsenkirchen or Eisenhüttenstadt.

      Never heard of these cities.

Eisenhüttenstadt is the second ugliest city I have seen in Germany so far, east-Germans seem cool but they look like the asked Pennsylvania how to build cities.
