A quick flip through of my phone's apps reveals:

    Booking
    Agoda (in SEA)
Google maps (make sure you have offline maps for the areas you are going)
    Ioverlander (for motorcycle trips)
    Facebook
    Instagram
    Tinder
    Bumble
Grindr (never hooked with a guy overseas, hardly opened it, but you never know when the mood strikes)
Translate (be sure to pre-download the language you need)
    Whatsapp
    Line
    Wechat
    Uber
    Grab (Thailand)
    AirBNB
    Hotwire
The app of whatever airline I'm flying
    RedBus (South America)
    NordVPN

I'd say grindr is a must, never know when you might be in the mood for a little sodomy. Once you have anal pleasure covered what else really matters, I say.

      >Mapy.cz
Is it better than maps.me? Why would you use that over Google maps with offline maps?

Asking because I might want to switch to another navigation app.

It is way better than maps.me. That turned in to absolute garbage after it was sold. There is also Organic Maps (from the Founders from Mpas.me)

I mostly travel in Europe and the only apps I have ever strictly needed are
    citymapper
    google maps
    tripadvisor
google translate (tbh rarely need to use this)

In addition to the ones that have been stated, flightstats/flightradar24. It's handy for knowing way beforehand if your flight is going to be delayed or have other issues. The airport screens might display on time, but when you know the inbound was supposed to leave an hour ago and is still on the ground, you can continue to knock down the drinks without any hurry.
