Solo traveling is terrible, f u?

I fell for the solo traveling meme, i rented a cabin in a campsite (they only rented them week by week, so i had to pay for a full week), and i looked at the hiking trails around.

First, i hate sleeping alone in this place, i'm always afraid someone will try to kill me or destroy or steal my car (i had a nightmare about it last night).
Being alone means you are an easy prey, people notice it immediately.

Secondly, hiking alone is okay-ish, and you meet other people hiking alone, tho, there's always the obnoxious couple giving you the looks. Also, if you fall, you're pretty much fricked.

I'm at night 2 out of 7 nights, i wish i was at home doing my shit. I wish i was at work 🙁
I think i will do 4 nights in order to keep face and i will pretend this was a good trip.

man this sounds like poor planning. first off if you were planning on hiking and meeting people, why did you rent a cabin? should have done it app trail style with your gear. that way each day and night is different. did you plan any activities, you know, since you are staying at the same spot for an entire week? I know no one who has done this, just seems like a moronic idea, but we’ve all done trips were the premise was fricked but we went on them anyway

I had a few different travel ideas but i couldn't decide, so i decided at the last minute and there was only week to week rentals. I only wanted a 4 days trips at first.
I paid 450 for the whole week (which is an ok price i guess), i will take the L and go back home after 4 days.

As for hiking, it's not the first time i do it, but you can't just go hiking 4, 5, 6 days straight. It takes its toll.

that completly breaks the idea of solo traveling, need to work on a good traveling plan, I mean come on, seriously, a cabin?? dude that money would be better to spend in liquor and chips.

When you solo travel, go to a big city, don't isolate yourself, don't be an idiot, don't be a reckless, always go to the safe places and user uber or trustable sources for transporting, be don't be afraid to have a drink out there but remember that you are a stranger, so don't be a stupid son of a b***h and play cool. Also go for fun involving other activities, that would require way more than $450, gastronomy, Extreme Sports, Culture, Arquitecture, Shows, Party up, Sex... that involves a price, is up to you how much money you want to spent, but don't high quality fun just for a few bucks, you cheap bastard.

if you intend to meet people, buy a turistic plan that involves more people, sure that can be a pain in the neck, but that way you are always socializing and keeping busy doing a lot of activites while you know another place than your shithole that you have as home

Yes but AVOID and tourist activity during the day with a guide. You could get a boring guide or slow walking group and since the guide talks you can’t interact that well with everyone. Imo it’s mostly middle or old age people who pay money for guides. They’re a waste of time when they’re official and a scam if overpriced. Most tourist places have signs with explanations you can read for free, google, or a book store with info on the place.

idk, maybe someone listening to the solo travel shills on this board.
HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW it's not common sense to book a week somewhere???

When people travel with their friends and family, they book a week no problem. The days they are tired of hiking they play cards, talk, go for a walk or something... when you're a solo traveler you just sit on your ass, read a book (a whole day? kek).

Lesson learned, no full week anywhere when you're solo, wow great.

solo travel is for cities or places where its easy to meet people. not fricking middle of nowhere cabin where u see the occasional couple or 2. people like you dumb homosexuals and you should stop travelling or just kys

First two posts basically nailed it. OP if you get lonely easily you need to orient your situation towards meeting people. For me, that typically involves a hostel or some sort of shared circumstance (camping sometimes).

Going inawoods is great but you need to accept that there are going to be fewer people way out in the middle of nowhere.

I will give you q few pointers just in case anyone else is as moronic as you and is planning on solo travelling:
          >go somewhere where you have stuff to do, don't just book a place somewhere where you intend to sit around and maybe go on a walk every now and again unless that is something you will enjoy.
          >extended periods (more than a couple days) of solo travelling is best suited to populated areas where you can talk to the locals or hang out with other felliw travelers.
          >don't buy a cabin to yourself if you don't like being alone, and don't pay week at a time if you're just making it up as you go along. Stay at a hostel preferably.
          >be able to entertain yourself inbetween things, like have a book to read, or practice drawing or something

Biggest issue with nu-travellers is that they always go to places they have absolutely no idea what to do or how to deal with.
Their expectations are always crazy high and get instantly disappointed when
          >they think hiking instantly gets you to the top with non-stop incredible views and without effort
          >they think solo means fulltime action with no time for self

Stop watching youtube or anything like this.
The reason why many people here like solo is because traveling with a group of friends often ends badly. It happened to me, it happened to many people here. When you stay with your friends almost 24/7 in a foreign place, things are very different. You’ll discover how great some of your friends are, and how shitty for the others. I am not even talking about how some people just don’t want to do some stuff for stupid shit reasons, and how some plans are ruined because of that. This is why instead of ruining some friendships (or even relationships), solo is the way to go.

Hiking solo is not made for everybody but one way to balance it is to keep social interaction to a minimum, without being it zero. I enjoy hiking solo but usually with a stop in mountain cabins to talk and interact with people around a meal or a card game. The comfort is minimal but people staying in cabins are usually interesting as they at least share the same interest as you, and I think when people like to challenge themselves in not so friendly conditions, they are usually more interesting that your average youtube-obsessed normie, as they have a lot of things to tell from their past experiences.
But for this it requires proper planning.

Think about it? Why do you absolutely want to travel?

          >The reason why many people here like solo is because traveling with a group of friends often ends badly
          Wow, I've been there

The other anons in this thread are giving you a lot of shit but I don't think you did anything particularly moronic.
The problem with traveling alone as a naturally lonely person is that you'll feel like shit if you're not busy and doing things that interest you the whole time, and for that you need to plan.

Anyway, since you don't have many days left, I suggest you check out what you can do around the area and plan the rest of the week so that you're busy all day everyday. It should be pretty easy with a car.
Also, get a book. Nature settings are great for reading.

bro. ive gone on multiple week long solo camping/hiking trips. they've been great. hiking is way better alone. you can get really lost in nature if you're not thinking about someone else. and being able to do whatever you want for as long as you want, whenever you want is true freedom.

maybe you havent experienced the living nightmare of traveling with someone bad. not being able to do anything without them changing the plans in some way. having to leave early because they're bored, deciding what to eat, where to go, and having to keep waiting because they walk too slow. having to leave the trip three FRICKING days early because they forgot to put on sunscreen and would rather ditch you there than spend another day.

you just dont sound like you really want this, or are not truly interested in it. thats fine. but its on you.

This just happened to me (again). But, having just gotten out of Satan's grasp, I realized that she would've b***hed the whole way and the experience if dropping tent and watching sunset would've been much different if not awful with *IT* there.

Then again having company traveling is far superior to doing it alone. Gotta find the right person though since living with some damaged b***h, which most 'traveling women' are, can be soul crushing and a bigger mind frick than you can possibly imagine.

On my first solo trip right now. Finished 4 days of Rome, will do 7 days of Istanbul.

You sound paranoid. Isn’t hiking pretty white? No blacks sounds pretty safe to me when it comes to crime. I’ve never hiked but yeah accidents are more bad when you’re on your own I guess.

I think solo trips are great if you do a citytrip because you won’t feel ‘lonely’ and can be social whenever you want.

Basically visited every historical building (big Roman Empire fan), ate great food, joined a fun Pubcrawl with 40 internationals and fricked two girls, one local one tourist. Going on a solo trip in a city is fun because you can be both alone but also join other people whenever you want. You’re not stuck with other people all the time and have time for yourself but can be social when you want to be. If that makes any sense

Don't do it by paying, go to pubs in the evening and you will quickly spot the international tourists attending and you can easily have a drink with them and start a conversation.

You’re maybe right on the costs but for me I planned everything during the 4 days in Rome except the restaurants and nightlife because that was something I wanted to do on the go and by asking girls through tinder or just see where people are going. I like nightclubs and bars and I don’t mind tourists, like I said I did the pubcrawl. But I also really like the areas only locals go to. Not only is it more fun, different music, people are also really friendly to you if you’re an obvious tourist. Plus sexually it’s like going from a 5 to an 8 depending on the country. In Istanbul I had one group of girls randomly taking pics with me and asking me how tall I was.

Okay now I sound like the autist but I had a semi-professional YouTuber give me a face rating and he rated me a 5, so I’m literally average faced.

            >So you just enter the bar, you say hi to whoever and then they welcome you like you are a long lost friend
I applied online I can link it if I haven’t already. Cost me €30 (probably too much) and the first hour was free drinks and pizzas. Since I hadn’t eaten yet and most Pizza Margheritas are like €5-€7 and I ate at least one its ok. Plus since the booze was free I just ordered a shit tonnes of beer. Pretty sure I made a profit (I can drink beer pretty fast like soda without it affecting me too much, depending on the amount and time).

            >and you are part of the crowd and you get two complimentary pussies?
I assume you’re slightly on the spectrum or maybe a little bit introverted or perhaps you just don’t make new friends easily. I just got my pizza, my drinks and joined a table with a free seat, asking them if it was free and if they were also here for the Pubcrawl. They obviously were because we all wore armbands. Anyway the basic questions like where are you from are fun because you can easily ask about their countries, culture, language, bore or make them laugh with your knowledge about their country etc. Introduce yourself. Drink, flirt etc.

This one British girl had some kind of liver transplant so she had 0 alcohol tolerance. If I was a bad guy I could have went home after the first 30 min with her to my hotel but I feel weird fricking a reallt drunk girl who can barely walk and me being semi sober. At one point she was sitting next to me and she was half leaning on to me, half collapsing from alcohol/tiredness? So I just pushed her away which made another girl laugh and that was a blonde American pig to who I wasn’t attracted to at all. In fact she made me lose a drinking game when she was in my team.

Basically it involved these drinking things for babies. The organisers put beer in it and i knew I could probably drink it faster. My team partner was the American girl and she had to stand on a stool to ‘feed’ me the alcohol. Anyway what did she do? Instead of putting it in my mouth she just held it in the air making me drink like some moron so yeah I didn’t win that. I’m blunt so i told her half teasing that she would make a terrible mother and that I hope she would never have kids. Then to the second bar she started grabbing my ass and I just slapped her back harder, more flirting. Then I think we made out at the third one and she had this airbnb rented because she worked remote for a few months so we made out there. I hD a bit of a beer dick in combination with the lack of attractiveness (she was close to the fattest girl I’ve fricked) and my dick doesn’t like condoms. So I used my fingers and made her come six times. Not even bragging I was surprised myself. Sensitive pussy that one. Sorry for the long blogpost 2/2

I’m (white) American and want to do the same thing but I don’t know much about any of this. Are the hostels where girls (who are actually attractive) stay the top-rated ones in large Western European cities? Are there a lot of hostels where those staying are heavily male and/or unattractive females or are most hostels fine and easy to meet girls in? How long do you have to book a room in advance or can you just walk in and book one on the same day? Is it easy to switch hostels if things are going badly in one? Is any of this adventuring possible in December? Can you meet girls traveling in December in either the warmer southern parts or northern parts of Europe? Also how did you meet the two girls you banged?

            You're overthinking things.
Go out there into the world, do things you enjoy, take the path less traveled more often than not, have a few stories and jokes to tell and luck will come your way.
If you go out into the world with a spreadsheet, calculating percentage odds of getting laid given times of year, locations, hostel types, etc, you're going to be a very unhappy person (unless you can actually do it incredibly well, lol)

I can't answer the coomer questions, you definitely sound like a virgin, maybe take it down a notch if you don't want to scare women.

            >How long do you have to book a room in advance or can you just walk in and book one on the same day?
It depends on the availability. If you want to stay in Rome any time of the year, you have to book in advance.
But other times, you can just go to the hotel the same day, maybe you will have to do 4 hotels and spend 2 hours, going left and right carrying your luggage, to get a room. That's why i always book in advance personally.

            >Is it easy to switch hostels if things are going badly in one?
Most of the time there's no refund. Some places have an optional $10 insurance for cancellation refunds.

            >Is any of this adventuring possible in December?
Probably less but there are people travelling all year long.

            >Can you meet girls traveling in December in either the warmer southern parts or northern parts of Europe?
There's no girl in Europe in December, they all migrate to Africa.

I'm planning to do this early next year, with a diversion to Ostia, Herculaneum and Pompeii, as I'm studying Latin independently at the moment. Not bringing the wife 'cuz "hell no!", not traveling all that way to basically make it a babysitting trip and b***h-fest. Just going with a backpack and a journal for notes and sketches, keep a low profile and see everything ancient that I can.

Will the Ukraine situation with energy prices, and the US now randomly blowing up European gas infrastructure, negatively affect the travel situation? I want to go during the off season but I don't want to freeze to death or get killed in an anti-USA riot.

There is very minimal chance of being killed in a protest or riot in Europe. It's not like USA.
Anyway, a traveler with a tourist visa is not supposed to be in this kind of situation. Otherwise he could be deported

I travelled to Italy this summer solo and never had issues, my takeways:

    1. Not being with a group of friends means less bullshit, arguing, drama, i can plan my own things do as i please.

    2. It forces me to get out of my comfort zone and socialize, i met tons of foreigners and local people there, many of which i still talk to after my trip. That's something i wouldn't have been able to do if i went with friends wienerblocking me the entire trip. For example during my trip in Venice i walked Dorsoduro in the evening, found a nice restaurant and ran into italian university students, we talked and they invited me to have drinks with them at a terrace after dinner and new friendships were made. That's where i realized there's more to Venice than San Marcho, Rialto and other tourist filled areas.

    3. If im confused or looking for my way somewhere i just ask people, it helped me practice my italian and now i'm much better at it.

    4. I liked wandering alone in cities like Venice, Milan, Treviso, Padova, Verona, etc and exploring monuments, museums, nice restaurants only local people know, i had the best pizza and tiramisu of my life in a small local joint in Treviso where absolutely no tourist goes to, even the waiters were wondering what the frick i was doing there and were happy to show me their popular dishes. There was this aura of peace and no pressure at all, doing things on my own terms and going back to the hotel when i felt like it (Be it at midnight or 4am after chilling with local folks).

It requires more planning for sure but it's worth the time and effort, it's much better than going with friends, going to tourist traps, taking selfies and moving on to the next area like the average NPC homosexual that swarms the place during summer.

Solo travel doesn't literally mean being alone.
The whole point of solo travel is to not be solo. You're supposed to meet lots of new people and do new experiences that you wouldn't normally be able to do with your partner, parent, kid, etc

Southeast Asia, and Asia in general, is a good place to solo travel. You can always pay for company worst case, but it also attracts a certain type of tourist that I can relate to better than the typical tourists who come to, say, Europe. Plus the cities are so massive and intricate I could literally just spend hours getting lost and wandering.

I think the real threat for incels is more getting scammed than getting mugged.
Because most incels are not used to some roastie talking to them, so can easily end up spending $500 in drinks or whatever because some b***h was nice to you.

As for getting mugged, it depends on the place. Always keep your valuables with you.

        Anonymous

Well I don’t drink, and I’m very schizoid at this point and shut out everyone who tries to be nice to me, I just try my hardest to end any social contact as soon as I can while putting up a facade of normality and politeness. I’m also not a virgin kek, I had gfs and sex in my teens and early 20s but it was all fat girls and even they stopped showing interest and now I’m an incel of 5 years this month.

Where would getting mugged be a problem? Do you guys have like a SighSee infographic of how to stay safe and stuff? I would like to visit places of history.

          >I would like to visit places of history.
Then there are bo better cities than Rome and Istanbul. Maybe Alexandria or some Iraqi, Syrian and Chinese cities but I haven’t been there.

If you can withstand the smell of human feces and curry than India might be a big adventure for you. It has a lot of old historical shit too. The Taj Mahal was an amazing experience but for me the St. Peter’s in Rome will always be my most breathtaking building. I literally cried to a priest when I made my first confession there (was raised Dutch Reformed and my church is not based so I’m thinking of becoming catholic).

To answer your questions. Avoid train stations at night. Follow the tourists during nighttimes but not sure if you are a nightlife person since you dont drink and avoid social situations. During the day I have never been robbed but scamming espexially at tourist areas is common. Maybe not as much the scam but just the insane prices of restaurants and souvenir shops right next to a tourist site. Advice is to go like 3-5 km away from it eat and buy stuff somewhere else.

I had a fat girl phase. Eventually I started dating more attractive girls (still 5s and 6s). For me I just learned how to talk to women and how to give them good sex.

You tried, which is more than a lot of people.

I think when solo traveling, you need to be nearly overwhelmed with stuff to do. As already pointed out, if you had camped along the trail rather than stick to the cabin, you could have set some overzealous goals for yourself to stay occupied.

Solo traveling with the expectation of meeting people along the way for company sets you up for disappointment. I've met great people, but it shouldn't be relied upon.

As you said in one of your other posts, it can be hard to tell where is a 'good place' to stay until you're already there. It happens.

Try to enjoy the woods anyway. You won't get this time back. Better to remember it building a fort in the woods than reading SighSee.

I should travel by myself. I'm never, ever traveling with family members because they're just awful and muslim so I wouldn't be able to eat normally behind their back. I'm traveling in the UK right now with a friend who promised me she would keep up with me and instead she trashed the whole hotel room, is so fricking fat she can't walk without needing breaks (or rather, she waddles everywhere she goes), she showers once a day buy smells like shit half of the day, doesn't wash her hair often enough, eats way too much and wonders why she has digestive issues, etc. I guess I expected something different because she wasn't like that before but now she's unbearable. She's snoring so hard next to me right now. She forgot to cut her toenails until we arrived at the hotel and I wish I could forget that sight. She can't sit next to me in buses, trains or planes without taking some part of my seat. I'm sick of accomodating her all the time. Last time I traveled with another friend we went to the côte d'azur and she wouldn't stfu about hating the beach despite me telling her I planned on going to the beach often there. She insisted I didn't enter the casino in Monte Carlo because "oh noes, I'm embarrassed uwu, it looks like a rich person's casino I don't know what to do xD" Next time I'll travel somewhere else without telling anyone until my reservations are already done, frick it.

i'm glad you eventually figured it out, but what ever made you think that travelling with a fat moron could possibly end well? i hope you're able to salvage some enjoyment out of your trip regardless

I already did small trips with her not that long ago and she wasn't that bad. I guess she went from being overweight to morbidly obese so progressively since the first lockdown I didn't even notice she'd be too unhealthy to walk in a straight line for 30min without interruption in a normal city. I'm still enjoying the trip but not as much as I would have without her. When she showed me an obese guy in a mobility scooter like 3 days ago and said jokingly she wanted one too I had an epiphany and understood that she actually doesn't look normal at all anymore. I'm worried about her health on top of that. She wants to go to Thailand next time just to stay at hotels with swimming pools, which seems a bit more reasonable but this is seriously making me hesitate now.

          Anonymous

Nevermind, I'm not going anywhere else with her anymore. She insisted that we wouldn't make a reservation for the bus from Cork to Dublin until the very last minute and because a friend living there told us that it was useless to make a reservation "too early" and she got shocked that there weren't any more buses available for us except the ones super early or super late. I let her do whatever whe wanted to prevent needless fights but it's over now. She also insisted that we did the London Eye at the very end of our trip to London because "muh sunset" and thought I was paranoid for wanting to do it early, except she's a moron and didn't want to check the wheather so it rained as soon as we got inside AND we nearly arrived late. I should have changed planned as soon as she told me she wanted to go back to the Madame Tussauds "museum", which was fricking garbage and an obvious tourist trap. I will insist again OP: traveling solo is better than being stuck with an idiot. Don't make my mistake and enjoy your current trip.

              Anonymous

I know the average man is smarter than the average woman but women in general are more average in the sense that they don’t have as many outliers. Lots of low iq men and high IQ geniuses, women tend to be more of the same.

When it comes to traveling I wouldn’t trust a woman to plan anything in a non-Western (safe) country. Not all women but a lot of them have no safety instincts and can’t read their surroundings very well.

For example they really think that if they get shitfaced drunk at a club and she goes home with him then gets cold feet about the sex or regrets it afterwards that it could have been rape. Let’s say it was rape, then they would call you a victim blaming for putting herself in that situation. Obviously real rape is bad but even then it’s often times preventable and rape victims (men as well) definitely have a tiny percentage of blame.

I know I shouldn't take the bait or feed the trolls... but I'm the one who wrote the post he's replying to so I want to ask: what the heck is this load of crap?!
I was just talking about the way women behave when traveling because I was answering this anon who didn't understand that he was dealing with a female anon when it was easy to guess it by reading the post in question

When we talk about the problems of reading or basic comprehension of some anons on board, we have here again a perfect example!
The excuse of trolling to ruin this board doesn't always hold, a troll can be funny and intelligent at the same time, there is also a hell of a lot of autism, not to say mental deficiency.

She wasn't like that last time we traveled together, as I said. She wasn't that fat. I think she started overeating as soon as the pandemic was announced, because last time we traveled together was in 2019 and she was just overweight, she didn't look like an overgrown baby yet. I don't know if that makes me a moron, but I've learned my lesson. And we're supposed to go back home tomorrow early in the morning but our airline has some very major technical issues and we're most likely going to be stranded in Dublin, frick Aer Lingus, Azealia Banks was right.

You're not a moron but I guess next time you'll travel solo like

Why do you absolutely want to travel?

              describe it

              >I think she started overeating as soon as the pandemic was announced,
Typical woman, useless slobs living only when people look at them.
As soon as they are by their own, they become obese.

Thanks. I managed to get some rest despite the issues with the planes. Now I don't know where I'd like to go yet next time, and I don't when will next time be because I'll be very buse with work and will get surgery on November, but that gives me opportunities to save money. My fat as frick friend wants me to go to Thailand with her on February or March next time but I'll refuse. She wants to go because it's cheap and she wants to stay at a 5 star hotel just for the swimming pool which isn't a bad idea by itself, but she also wants to go to different cities to visit them, which would mean different reservations and given how she can't even walk normally without having "leg cramps", aka without feeling pain because she's too fat for her joints, that seems like a terrible idea.

I'm hesitating between going to Italy and Morocco alone, in both countries I have relatives who could house me for free, but that would also mean having no freedom and being forced into visiting the shitholes they personally like because "muh hospitality" so who knows. Or I could just visit French cities by train, since airlines are being stupid as frick these past few weeks and I'm already in France.

She can roll the smaller case. The bigger one is probably hers, though. All things like this (like holding her purse or jacket, standing around while selfie or being her personal photographer) are displays of supplication. The guy thinks he's being the Man but she sees it as weakness and that she has him pussy-whipped. Other guys like me smirk when we see it, and sometimes she even smiles back in acknowledgement if he's not looking.

Do people actually get scared of travelling solo? Jesus Christ that's what I've been doing for my entire life up to 4 years ago. You just figure out what you want to do in the destination, plot out a rough travel plan (per day), and execute the steps. What the frick is so hard about it?

Now I travel with people who have their shit together and I can just turn off my brain and go into cruise mode while they lead me from one attraction to another. Things are much easier, but definitely not as exciting.

yeah it does, is not uncommon, people like to share his moments with his families or friends, there's no mystery on that, no need to be acid on that. People are afraid to leave their own places when then move on, its a big move, so you are very good when traveling alone, why instead being a dick, try to be a cool person a give some good advice when solo travel

I'm just a guy from Bogota who likes to visit SighSee and I have even traveled a lot even in my own country but I enjoy riding by myself or with my few friends (very few) and when I got my time and budget I enjoy getting in touch with foreign places that I felt myself comfortable, but not better or worst than you??

Don't be a dick, most people are scared of solo traveling.

If it was the opposite, you'd have crowds of solo travelers around the world, and not just like 10% of travelers top.

A lot of modern young people are scared to dead of their own shadows and being alone without an electronic device or any friends interaction. Not to mention how the covid hoax lockdowns made a lot of young people more depressed than they already were. Sex.cz, find girl you like. Then nornik.net or svetaci.info to check reviews. Profidominy.cz for dommes/subbies, reviews for them is also nornik.net.
Can't help you with regular girls, no easy simple solution, only regular dating like anywhere else. Or club bawds, in which case prostitutes are preferable.
