My first solo trip and I'm going to Washington. Staying at my cousin's place and I'm renting a car. Chances are most of you people don't live there so I'm pretty much just looking for general solo travel tips.
Looking to go Late February or early March
What I want:
>explore nightlife (clubs, bars, shows)
>enjoy snow/general cold atmosphere
>hook up on dating apps
Concerns:
>frozen road,
>hard precipitation, to the point events are cancelled or no one shows
>general shitty weather to the point I can't go anywhere
I mean it's Washington so I'm expecting bad weather. Just hoping it isn't extreme. I'm looking to go Late February or early March, MAYBE April but it's not preferable.
What do you guys think? And if you've been there, any recommended activities?
What part of Washington. That matters especially in regards to weather, but actually everything else too.
Shelton will be where i'm staying, but will be frequenting Olympia and Seattle mostly. I am aware of the drive.
Kek well you prolly know this but Shelton is NOT a tourist destination. I know people that work at the prison there. Shelton-Olympia and Olympia-Seattle isn’t too bad if drives imo. Trust me when I say have the guy you are staying with tell you about the traffic patterns Olympia-Seattle and Seattle area, if you go the wrong time you will wish you died. We have most likely passed all the actual winter weather this year, but the later you go the better it will be. If you can swing late March or April I really really would. It will be warmer and maybe sunnier, we are having rain non stop this winter. If you are going around those cities I’d say almost 0 percent chance you get fucked from snow. Rain? Sure, but we are extremely used to that here ain’t nothing gonna shut down for rain. Olympia is a bit of a shithole for a capitol, you will prolly want to hit Seattle or portland(which isn’t really that far from where you are) for shit to do city wise. There are also an insane amount of hiking trails and nature stuff which is why I say go as late as possible because it’s gonna be way better in the spring. If you go in February I’d suggest avoiding going north of Seattle or anywhere with elevation unless you don’t mind snow.
This is great advice thank you. Shelton is just where my cousin happens to live. I've been before it's literally in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. It's literally that or air bnb for like a thousand dollars.
I can see why you'd get confused lol. I want a little cold weather but not so much to the point where it's fucking me over. I guess there's no point bringing that up here unless God browses sighsee. I live in Los Angeles so i'm tired of sun. That's why I like Washington so much. It's so downtempo and chilly.
Late March i'm going to El Salvador so it's looking more like i'm going April. I promised a girl i met over there i'd come around valentines day but it's way too late for that at this point lmao
I was gonna tell you about our ummm, homeless situation up here but you being from California you are prolly used to it
Oh I missed you actually want cold and snow I’m getting mixed messages from your OP. You can for sure find all the cold and snow you want you just gotta go north or up from where you are staying. Will likely be quite mild where you are staying so you won’t get stuck
You got to try captain ivars fish bar the best one is in Seattle on the sound but they have other locations the best fish and chips and clam chowder
Also the space needle is worth it it’s kind of expensive but the views are great
Also see the first Starbucks at pike place and the fish market
>Incel loser coomer thread
Not an incel, loser is subjective so idunno, definitely a coomer. Chupa mi pinga bitcha
I live in North Seattle and work downtown. You're gonna be in shelton? Okay, here goes.
>explore nightlife
Not in fucking shelton lol. Seattle is really your best bet, but even that has a bunch of queer attractions. I say you should go around Ballard for your walks, as most of Seattle is pretty grey and littered with hobos.
>enjoy snow/general cold atmosphere
Go to the olympics or the cascades, you'll like it a lot. Just make sure you have the right type of transport though. I would say the olympics since you're closer to them, and traffic can be a bitch on the east side.
>hook up on dating apps
Again you aren't doing this in shelton lmfao. You can try seattle but the only girls you'll get are weird alt girls with severe mental illness or white/asian girls with sky-high standards living off daddy's microsoft/boeing/amazon money.
>frozen road
This doesn't happen much, and it's particularly rare on the peninsula where it rains constantly. Don't worry about this, I can count the number of days per year where shit actually freezes up.
>hard precipitation, to the point events are cancelled or no one shows
Shit does not get cancelled for rain outside of tsunamis. If you're there in the summer, it's actually quite dry. July and August in particular are almost completely devoid of rain.
>general shitty weather to the point I can't go anywhere
Again, super unlikely that this happens as torrential rain is very rare outside the pacific coast. Anything more than a moderate drizzle in Seattle's wet months is also quite uncommon. We're built for the fucking rain.
Next post will be about my insider knowledge about what to actually do.
Since you're going in April:
>April is temperate, but probably going to be wet. Just bring a raincoat or umbrella and you'll be fine
>the mountains are going to progress into the low season soon in April, so you should go as early as possible before the snow goes bad
>If you're in shelton, consider going to the coast for a drive. You can see some cool scenery in a moody lighting, and it makes for a cool aesthetic profile.
>If you go to the coast, also make sure to go through aberdeen for the grunge vibe. You'll feel like Kurt Cobain, trust me
>make sure to visit gasworks park for your photo op, usually not crowded and I'll come give you a slap on the cheek when I'm on break
>seattle itself is pretty dumpy but the east side is relatively pristine, mostly because of the tech money presence
>space needle is cool I guess but don't go in downtown too much, there's not a ton to see outside Pike Place and even that's kinda lame. Maybe try the ferris wheel but beware of the hobos
>green lake is a great way to get some exercise, probably the only place I actually like to visit downtown
>take a ferry to seattle from shelton via bremerton/southworth, fun time and a solid photo-op for cheap
>You're close to portland as well, that could be a fun sidetrek for you. Go to the japanese/rose garden and a blazers game if you decide to visit down there
>top pot has good donuts according to my friend who works for them
Either way, have fun and try to avoid the hobos.
>you aren’t hooking up on dating apps in Shelton
Hey man not so fast. Think about all the bored prisons guards wives whose husbands work long hours.
I live near Shelton. Not saying where. But I’ll give some advice.
>frozen road
Highly unlikely.
>hard precipitation, to the point events are cancelled or no one shows
Nothing will be canceled for rain lmao
>general shitty weather to the point I can't go anywhere
Here’s the deal. The constant cold rain is miserable. You probably don’t have the clothes for it. Its wayy more bitter and piercing than a dry cold. Just because you CAN do something doesn’t mean you will want to. Its a very outdoorsy state, but during this time of year you will be mostly doing city slicker degeneracy like the Californian scum you are. Drive to Bremerton and take the ferry. See Pike Place and the Space needle. Look at all the pet homeless you demoncrats love so much. You can buy heroin and meth from any of them, and the cops can’t stop you. If you like National Parks, go to Hoh River because its a rainforest. Do the 3 mile loop trail, I think its called Ceder something trail idk its been a while. Then go to Aberdeen (shithole) and have a nice day like Kurt Cobain did.
All my other recommendations assume you have money, and I’m certain you are a broke ass loser so I won’t bother. I hope your trip is miserable and you return home to California forever after.
Thanks for the advice, despite how backhanded it is
>despite how backhanded it is
Washington is the most insufferable part of the country. Don't move there, everyone is like this. Being a passive aggressive antisocial douchebag is considered cool and cultured. Have you noticed like a full 1/3 of redditors are from Seattle?
I've been in Redmond a lot and it's mostly the exact same shit but with more Asians and blacks. Washington is home to the worst parts of American gayry.
Also there are some really fucking clever thieves there.
