South Korea

Got offered a job offer in South Korea on a 1 year contract but I've been trying to get information on the internet and every website says completely different shit.
Would 40.000,00~45.000,00 won/year be enough for two people to live in Seoul? What is the average work hours per week / average wage out there?

        >33k USD per year
LMAO unless you're coming from a legit shithole line venuzula good luck

33k/yr, depending how your country breaks taxes, in korea is doable yes. It's just not really going to be all that comfortable and you'll likely come away with just about as much or a little over what you went in with.

One of the biggest issues with Korea is that you get constantly nickle'd and dime'd on every thing. You'll entertainment is cheap and korea is super cheap on a normal US salary and exemptions as such, but that's it. You're basically working slightly over the median, so while not bad it's not great. Inflation has fricked things up too so you're probably just at the median income right now, if you're living in Seoul then you'll be living pretty modest unless you want a literal shoebox for a place with thin as frick walls.

        tl;dr
job is okay if you're from india or some shithole, it's a terrible price for UE dev work.

Well as a matter of fact I do come from a shithole (Brazil) and 33k USD a year is a lot here, way above average

Then it will probably be fine, just know you'll be doing probably 10hrs a day or so and be a monkey on a chain to do their bidding.

You can make it work on the salary range you posted just understand you're probably not coming back home with all that much.
Apartment prices, assuming this is in Seoul, are out the ass post covid.
Food is all over the place depending on your style, if you have a furnished apartment/sharehouse or not.
Transportation isn't expensive on trains but does add up.
Maintaining a level head might be an issue it's very easy to burn out in Korea if you aren't korean.

At least half your pay for the year will be rent+utilities unless you manage to find some rats nest or want to spend 12+ hr days just for work 5 days a week. I am not sure what tax exemptions you get either so you want to look at that, I know brasil can kind of frick their citizens working abroad.

It's actually like 5 hours/day work, and oh I forgot to mention I will be getting housing so I don't have to worry about that.

                >It's actually like 5 hours/day work,
                >Korea
                Choose one.

Anon this is the country that to compete with other asian countries signed into law that employers can let you work 52-69 hrs a week, so long as they let you "rest" aka sleep at your desk for a bit. There is absolutely no way you are only working 5hrs a day in korea as a foreigner, for the effort they have to go to for getting you a work visa. One of the bigger issues here is that because they have your work visa and are your sponsor they can really lean into you on doing extra work. Trust me I know. Especially if they know you're from a country like brasil.

                > I will be getting housing so I don't have to worry about that.
Okay sure? that's nice but hopefully they aren't giving you the line of "housing assistance provided" which means, they just tell you an agent they know about to go to so they put you in some apartment. Not actually pay for it, that's a common thing with oversea jobs and "oops misunderstanding bad translation :)"

By all means go for it if you have nothing to lose but there is no fricking way you are only working 5hrs a day, unless it's 8 days a week.

My bad, it will be 5hrs for a short period of time, after that will be full time job, which I can only assume it's actually 10hrs a day or something.

                > they just tell you an agent they know about to go to so they put you in some apartment. Not actually pay for it
That got me worried, I will take a look onto that

                Thanks anon for the advice

Anon they aren't going to pay for your housing if that's actually what you assumed. The will probably help locate housing that is compatible with your visa and can get you set for your stay.

Most likely you're going to be spending around 2M won per month on housing, utilities(water, electricity, internet), and insurance+basic needs. After you might be spending .25-.5M won per month on doing anything and everything to not blow your brains out after a "5 or 10" hour work week, employers are only required to give 11hr breaks between shifts. As a foreigner you are the lowest shitstain on the totem pole(at that salary anyways) and will basically be a slave/punching bag for all the work others don't do.

While it doesn't sound like a bad deal, probably an upgrade from your country, don't expect to come home with more than 15M won so whatever that is in hue hue money. Yes I am sure someone will come in and tell you "UHHMMMM AHKTUALLY" about how you can live in a literal closet, eat the cheapest ramen, and never go outside only spending 1M won a month; but if you're working out there you'd fricking want to do a flip.
