Alcohol to calm the nerves or anti-anxiety meds. Obviously don’t become dependent on them, but they can be used to get you going and make you more comfortable with people

Just go to some odd place like a grocery store and talk to people, you would be suprised or when going to a place try getting something not from a shop like a certain traditional thing from a small village

yeah I don't get it I'm akward and ugly, my first solo trip in a big city was during the day explore the city, parks, museums, zoo eat at different restaraunts and by night I was mostly too tired to go out even If I wanted to. Skipped out on the night life but I wouldn't have that much fun especially alone

    >people who are social autist shut-ins at home and that if they go abroad alone, suddenly they will become mr. extrovert because "they don't have the pressures of being in a familiar environment"

i hear this shit all the time when normies suggest people travel alone, "dude yeah going out alone is so easy people will just gravitate towards you since youre foreign".

i went on vacations every year with my parents growing up, usually stayed in the united states, went to hawaii a few times, went to italy once and china once. while obviously we would go out and do things, i dont believe i ever met a single other child, sure there were plenty of families but my asocial parents sure never met any of them and i didnt go out of my way to do it. the thought of traveling to a foreign country alone terrifies me because i know i would never leave the hotel.

Traveling in China as foreigner will easily get you tons of positive attention (if you aren't african)

when i went to china it was being forced to go with my mother in a tour group with handful of old white couples. the chinamen treated us like zoo animals anywhere we went and i basically stayed away from the others

Go stay in a hostel OP. Staying in a hotel is a surefire way to be an anxious shut in. Where are you?

      Anonymous

Everyone is different. I tend to stay in hotels for a few days at the start of my trip in order to freak out in privacy. I find im already overwhelmed by a new place, language etc that its nice to be in a secure and private room on my own rather than having to drain myself onto of that by meeting tons of people and not sleeping enough etc. Once I have acclimatised I then move to hostels.

But thats just my little system I have worked out as someone who finds really draining being around other people.

      >be an adult
      >sleeping in a bunkbed with a bunch of smelly travelers snoring and farting all night
I never understand the appeal of this unless you are really poor, in which case maybe hold off on traveling until you get your life together

This. Hostels are truly for losers and poorgays who shouldn't be traveling in the first place if the cant afford real accommodations. The reality is that being at a hostel is not going to make you social or not autistic just because you HAVE to sleep near others staying with you. If you genuinely cannot be social of your own volition then it's not going to get better. You either make the conscious decision to learn to socialize with others and put that into practice, or you stay a shut in and never deal with your issues. The whole
        >b-b-b-but im at a hostel so t-t-t-they have to t-t-talk to me, r-right?
is the biggest cope I've ever seen. If I had to stay at a hostel and the person I ended up speaking to is an autistic shut-in I would end the chat as soon as possible by saying I had plans to go somewhere and dip out and it's the same for everyone else there who isn't in your awkward, no social skills having situation.

Lol hostels are great for socialising. People will talk to anyone and everyone there and you already have plenty to talk about. Of course if you are so autistic that you are practically a mute there is only so much that can happen but otherwise it's perfect for someone with little social experience.

Hey OP! I arrived on my solo vacation and didnt feel good yesterday. Went outside but also spent alot of time in my room because I was just feeling down. Today I was out all day. While reading in the park 3 friendly locals approached me and asked what i was reading, they were very nice. After that i talked to a beautiful woman in the park because she was wearing flowers in her hair and i thought thats interesting. Went out to eat alone in the evening, really enjoyed it! Hope you find the energy to head out, you‘ll have fun! 🙂

Everytime someone comes up to me in a park it's either a gypsy beggar (gib money gib money), a woman beggar with a 20 minute story about medical expenses wanting money or a pre scammer trying to get info for the main scammer to use later

This isn't solo travel but I rented a really nice place in Greece in which we didn't need to leave. It had everything at the Airbnb. The hosts even catered homemade Greek food and wine. And for girls we just ordered online and then partied once they got there.
