Travel is too commercialized and geared for tourism now. Nothing is genuine.

>tfw you will never be able to bargain your way into a dank cabin on some vessel full of interesting people to trek through either an unamericanized, unspoiled Europe or unexplored lands in the far east or Africa, devoid of tourists, untouched by the western world

that "born to early to explore the stars, born too late to explore the planet" might be a meme but it's true

everything feels so commercialized and geared for tourism now. nothing is genuine, cultures are being erased or have become hollow, disneyfied versions of themselves

feels bad man

Why the frick do you exclusively go to tourist hotspots then complain you're always in tourist hotspots? For your next trip go to deepest darkest africa or the jungles of latin america instead of venice. What's that? Too dangerous? You don't want to go without wifi and a comfy bed for a few months? Looks like you're not too late for anything other than not being a pussy.

even if it’s not a tourist hotspot, pretty much everywhere in Europe has either been spoiled by America (McDonalds and Pizza Hut galore) or is full of coons and poos

Far East Russia is really cool. I miss going there. Plenty of beauty both in the land scape and women.

You don't understand. OP just wants to go somewhere that is both non-touristy and full of civilized white people.
Why wouldn't such a place exist?
It's not like every white country with money imports poor immigrants to do the work that they feel like they're too good for (then complains about them).

Don't bother OP. The zoomers and trannies that inhabit this board don't understand what they missed out on. Even in the early 2000s there were still a few places left where you could explore something genuine. Even if you go to the boonies nowadays everyone has a cell phone.

    >lmao just go to least develop parts of Africa where you are likely to be robbed and murdered for being white
If we have reached that point, you are only proving OP right

2020-2021 was a great time to be living abroad. Zero short term tourists around, and you noticed this mostly by the absence of whatever the most annoying nationality/ethnicity of tourist in that region was. In that sense it was better for me than my earliest backpacking days in the mid-90s (but of course those other 90s vibes weren’t there).
To be in most countries you had to have been there before it closed or jumped through hoops. But there were still places open, it’s just most people didn’t take advantage of them and stayed home and complained. And now they’re still complaining.
Even me - I can’t help look back fondly on the past 2+ years. But the difference is that I know everything will just continue to get worse in the future, so I try to live for the moment and enjoy whatever the present has to offer.

Not being able to get on a boat and go to parts of Africa where you get killed for looking different is exactly what he's complaining about. Compared to the 1500-1800s, it's easier now to go somewhere "undeveloped" and not die.

Should have traveled in 2020. I know, it’s not that easy but 2020 was definitelt THE year to travel.
Went to Iceland, Sweden, Spain etc. There was nobody. Absolutely nobody.

      cheaper too. Sweden was amazing.

        Anonymous

Hell yeah it was insanely cheap.
Decent hotels that usually cost 300-500 euros per night in Iceland were down to 100-150.
Stayed in a very posh boutique hotel in Stockholm’s old town for 120 a night. Beautiful large room filled with genuine antiques. I checked the prices a month ago and it’s now 500 a night.
