I’m planning on going to Thailand for about 4 months. I started muay thai about a year ago and have gotten to the point where I am fighting in the US. I will train at a gym, not one for the farang tourists, but people who actually want to fight. I want to fight while I am over there, due to being a heavweight 6’5 220lbs (currently) I know I will be fighting other foreigners. I also have friends (guy and girl) who have expressed interest in coming during my time there to hangout. I will probably be there march-june, so that I can be there in april for the water festival or whatever it is called. >what is the best city to go to?
I want a balance of a decent gym, access to nightlife, cool shit to do with my friends, good food, good places to rent.
Fee free to give suggestions on shit to do over there.
All that training just to lose to me? I'm flattered
no recommendations. Must be scared or larp.
Neither. I'll see you soon.
Enjoy your concussions and early dementia. But to answer you question, there are good gyms in Chiang Mai and Phuket. Both of them tick your boxes and seem to be equally popular places to train. Phuket has beaches and Chiang Mai is cheaper. Phuket is warmer/hotter, and Chiang Mai has less scammers and better quality expats. February, March, and April are the worst air quality months for Chiang Mai but it hasn't been so bad in recent years. Those are some of the hotter months in Phuket.
Thank you for the suggestions. And I’m already fucked for dementia. Every single grandparent had it. I’m probably blowing my brains out at 50. But I only want to fight for a few years while I am still young.
Less likely to have premature dementia with Muay Thai than Boxing. The headgear doesnt do shit.
I just came back from Thailand. It was absolutely wonderful. The hookers and expats are disgusting and annoying, stay away from pattaya unless you get straight on the boat and go to Koh Larn.
Phuket is okay, but again a bunch of tourists. Hop on a boat and go to the islands.
You can live very cheaply there. I met a nice girl there and she took me all around and I had the absolute time of my life.
Really, don't waste your time with hookers. Some clubs have good girls at Khao San road, but most of the clubs are full of free lance women.
Thai friendly is okay if you want to meet good girls, they're all usually upfront about if they want money or if they're real people.
I loved Bangkok but that's because I like huge cities with trees and good public transit.
Chiang Mai is cool, and like the other anon said Phuket is also nice but in Patong there are so many expats its obnoxious. Honestly, go anywhere except pattaya.
You can get rent very cheap in pretty much anywhere.
No one knows the best city for you, but I really loved Bangkok, especially when I stayed away from the expats. If you're actually into Muay Thai and good, then you'll make some cool friends.
But hopefully you are aware that most people there are absolutely terrible at English.
Try to make friends with some locals, if they're good people they'll stop you from getting ripped off and show you awesome places.
The temples are cool, they're "touristy" but mainly asian tourists, all the white tourists and at the bars drinking and smoking at 9am.
Hi not op here and female.
Is there an off season where it's still hot enough to swim but not full of tourists? I know it's tropical but I would assume summer is usually busy, but maybe Aussies go in their summer, and there is a monsoon season. I would go to train cultural arts like op but I want to enjoy nature too.
It's always hot enough to swim, and the wet season is the low season
It's always wet season when I'm around 😉
post tits your dumb slut
sirs pls no rape
Might as well ask here since there is a thread up. I'm likely going to Thailand sometime in/between november-januari and I'm going to save up some dosh before then for a specific purpose, which is buying art. I've been to Thailand a few times before and picked up a few oil paintings and statuettes. Do you guys know where to go in Bangkok (besides Chatuchak weekend market and their artist side street) to find some fun art shit to buy? The most expensive piece I got was €800, and hopefully I will have €2000 at minimum to burn. I'm mostly interested in paintings, ceramics, and metal. Pic related, the painting on the right looks like the artist I bought my piece from.
mauy thai is sick
