The vacancies of a waste

My mother: we are fed up with you spending your days in your room at 23 years old we will pay you the trip of your life you will come out changed you have 10 days to find your destination accommodation etc. or we kick you out.

Me: after begging them that it was not necessary I finally resigned myself and chose France in a region called Aisne known for the ww1 and in a small village.

- The French country people don't speak English
- They clearly hate foreigners and their facial expression clearly meant "another English-speaking bastard who doesn't even try to speak French
- I cried in front of a cute bakery worker because I can't make myself understood
- Me spending my whole trip in my room when I really wanted to see some remnants of the ww1
- the hotelier who made fun of me because they only saw me leave my room twice
- I post fake vacation pictures found on the internet so that my family thinks I'm having fun
- I pretend to have had the time of my life there my family will never know the truth

I studied abroad in France when I was 20 and it was life-changing, but don't be so hard on yourself. I was there for 4 months, and for the first month I was just like you. I rarely went out and I was asocial, because I didn't know how to function there. It actually took another person at the language school I was at to approach me and pull me into the social group on the fifth week to really get going socially, and after that we were going out every single night. It was an amazing time. But, even though the other students were Europeans, they weren't French, and their common language was English, which made communication easier.

A piece of advice, if you go on another trip to Europe by yourself, don't spend the trip in one place. You can spend a week in a place if you want, but I recommend going across Europe.

I also recommend staying in hostels with other travelers. You'll probably meet other people, and will likely travel around with them.

When you get to a place, figure out everything there is to see and do. Anything you think might be worth doing. Then get out and do those things.

Don't be such an edgy dork. France is one of the most, if not THE most popular tourist destination.

      >I really wanted to see some remnants of the ww1

it was 100 years ago, did you expect to find trenches?

There are sites from the world wars all over Europe.

Kek, no one really cares about much in southern Europe and it's kinda why I love it.

Bruh. This is going in the screen cap folder. Although you were forced to go just like those soldiers so there's some irony in that.
