Theft abroad

What is the worst country for getting shit stolen from? I'm talking just rampant theft and even keeping your things in the hotel isn't safe.
>The worst countries:
France (Paris especially)
Italy
San Francisco
>have a bad reputation but I didn't experience anything bad and think that if you keep your wits about you you'll be safe
Mexico
Thailand
Laos

Ironically I have been to a lot of third is countries and these places were all unironcally much worse. I want anons to tell me their experiences so I can avoid these places. I only want to visit civilized countries. Thanks.

Plenty of white thieves in Paris. You're underestimating how much of a shithole that city is. Don't trust anyone there

        T. Never been to Paris. I read all the shit on here and reddit about Paris being some incredible gotham third world shit hole and then never had any issues, even in the worst spots. It's just a big echo chamber

Yeah, because your experience in Paris is somehow more important than anyone else's experience. Get over yourself, boring people always stay safe.

Paris is a dystopian hellscape but oddly enough I didn't get robbed there.
Probably because I was always wary and on guard with all the subsharan peddlers, burqas and gypsy panhandlers everywhere.

It's /misc/ bullshit because France is a meme country that surrenders to the germans, to invading african hordes, etc.
Something like a mugging is unlikely but gypsies/nogs will try to steal your shit if you're not careful with your belongings.
Same with San Francisco, nothing is likely to get stolen from your hotel or any secure location and you're not likely to be assaulted but property crime caused by street dwellers is a huge problem.

The actual sketchy shitholes are places where you're likely to be robbed at knife or gunpoint and even hotel staff can't be trusted like Brazil, South Africa or latam countries.

Will I be ok In Thailand, Laos, Vietnam? I never felt unsafe in Paris

Yes assuming you don't go wandering around rough areas at night or to some isolated village involved in drug production. They're pretty safe countries from a violence standpoint and petty crime is easy to avoid. Biggest issue is scams and being able to trust someone random like a taxi driver to not pad the bill.

Thailand you have to look out for traffic (look both ways) and stray dogs if you go to rural areas (they are aggressive and roam in packs).
Vietnam has petty theft, but they usually only target women or easy prey. Keep your phone and wallet in your front pockets and no issues ever. Beware of phone snatching from bikes. Don't keep valuables out of your sight. Basic common sense. I feel far safer in Vietnam than the west after 1.5 yrs here.

Not a poltard and I think Paris is a shithole. The Africans in Paris are unironically the only decent people in the city. They are friendly and for some reason MUCH better looking over their disgusting American counterparts. If I was a local white Parisian boy I'd probably only frick black girls.

Anyways, every anon on here has talked to death about his much of a shithole Paris is. I don't think I need to contribute to it but I'll just say that of all 40 countries and capitals I've been to Paris is dead last on it (never been to India though).

Turkey. It’s full of thieves, pick pockets, hawkers, the taxi drivers are lying counts who overcharge you, it is full of scammers that pretend to be your friends only to direct you to bars/clubs that will give extortion price tags, and annoying local businessmen will con you that they are nice and offering tea(which is very cheap) so that you’ll feel obliged to them. Lots of bars, resorts to avoid the excessive alcohol tax of the Islamist AKP make bootleg alcohol. That bootleg poison has killed hundreds of people.

Without all inclusive resorts Turkey would collapse as a mass tourism destination. It’s a fricking bandit state and land and not a proper country worthy of respect.

what's a count doing driving a taxi? also isn't Turkey technically a republic? how can it have counts?

I meant to write c**t. Turkey is scammer central outside of “resort ghettos.” But even in the resorts you could die from bootleg alcohol.

        From 2021:

        >“At least 22 people have died in Istanbul and 16 others have been hospitalized and are in serious condition after drinking bootleg alcohol in Instanbul, the local governor's office said Friday, as authorities intensified a crackdown on counterfeit drinks across Turkey ahead of New Year's celebrations.

        >“Eleven of the dead, and five of those who had fallen ill were foreign nationals, the Istanbul governor's office said in a statement. It didn't elaborate or provide details on the victims' nationalities.”

      t. Only went to tourist traps
I don't get morons that go to muslim countries to party with boose. Yeah locals or Erasmus do it, but why would you expect it to be like at home ? Of course there's only going to be extra difficulty. Other than that, taxis are mostly c**t everywhere, and you have scammers in every big city.
Try learning even the most basic turkish and avoid touristy places, you'll see how prices are cheap and people kind

Depends what kind of travel you want. If you want to authentic experiences in places that globohomosexual hasn't penetrated yet, then I'd say going to dangerous shitholes like Mauritania, Somalia or Afghanistan is the dream

Iran doesn't really have a reputation as dangerous for tourists (except in the US, but they basically equate bad diplomatic relations with dangerous, even countries like North Korea where you have someone watching over you 24/7) so I believe you. But Morocco? I've heard all sorts of stories about petty theft and scams.

North America is surprisingly scam free. Scams you'll find even in Western Europe basically don't exist here.

Those kind of scams don't work in the US because "the customer is always right," everyone might have a gun, and everyone in the US is israeli enough to know that if you don't like the quality of a particular business you simply throw a fit with the manager and refuse to pay. The police don't consider your non-payment for goods a criminal matter anymore either.

He's right. There are no tourist scams in the US. Violent crime is what they excel at.

In brazil, crime rate is high, considered a dangerous country, the criminals don't have fear to go jail because of outdated penal code, that is from 1940 and Never was renovated, I saw that a foreigners tourist was robbed and foreigners tourist was dead because of the bandits, criminaly move away a tourists. Brazil happens very homicides and has very unseccurity, that's why they can't walk with cellphone at hand on streets because they will be robbed. Has a situation that a bandits kill a people/victims and thief a cellphone or things of value, that is called Latrocide (Latrocínio how is called in Brazil).

Brazil is a poor country, even though Brazil has many resources. If you see a crime rates of poor asian countries like a India, Laos and Vietnam, a crime rates of 3 countries from asia are low, on the contrary of Brazil.

Never had any problems in SE Asia. Only place I ever felt wary was Phnom Penh. Thailand and Vietnam, aside from usual tourist scams, are honest, law abiding societies. My biggest fear is always getting my passport/phone/cards stolen and I am overly paranoid about it, constantly checking shit and worrying etc. Rather be safe then sorry though

Parked in downtown San Francisco for 20 minutes on a busy street in the middle of the day to grab a quick sandwich. Came back to my friend's car smashed open. They got her bags and passport. She had to cancel her 3 week trip to South America to go to Machu Pichu. She recouped maybe 1/4 what she spent on the trip. Never leave shit in your car in San Francisco. Not even for a minute.

    >San Francisco
As a native this depresses me deeply, please don't leave anything in your car here if you choose to visit. I hate that this issue persists and awareness about it doesn't spread.

I don't know about overall theft, when I was in Beijing the whole place felt very shady. I knew someone who was shoved from behind then had her backpack dug through quickly at the plaza outside the Forbidden City, all in daylight.

Western Europe by far. Never experienced and witnessed more rampant pick-pocketing anywhere else. It even makes the favela monkeys I saw in the streets of Brazil look tame.

It isn’t the native Europeans doing it though. It’s always the brownies I see who are on the prowl.

I’ve always wondered, too, why despite having much more poverty, pick-pocketing isn’t really an issue here in America except for, in my experience, some music festivals?

Because fricking around results in finding out here.

And it's actually kind of hard to pull off. It's a skill that is learned from being a part of a criminal ethnic group going back centuries, the average ghetto dweller is too lazy and sticks to pushing drugs.
