Tourist traps:

Places selling to people as a must-watch or go, and then you go there, and isn't as near as impressive as people told you.

I will name the most obvious ones:
-Statue of liberty
-White house
-Lincoln's statue

There is no greater tourist trap in the world.
      There was no Juliet.
      There was no Juliet's house.
There was no balcony on the house. It's a glued sarcophagus.
And best of all, there even was no fricking balcony in the balcony scene.

Mount rushmore. Total dump with a huge parking garage right in front of it.

And it's fricking tiny. Barely anyone realizes that. Makes the whole thing that much less impressive. Crazy horse or whatever it's called will probably be cooler.

Black Hills are underrated but yeah Rushmore and the town around it sucks. Crazy Horse is cooler.

      >Blue lagoon, Iceland
No Icelanders, just fat boomers from cruise ships and Instagrammers waiting for flights. Fantastically expensive. Go to the hot tubs in municipal pools instead - dirt cheap and actual locals will be there.

      >Guinness brewery, Ireland
I do hone brewing and this is a lame brewery exhibit. You don’t really use 100% roasted barley, do you, Diageo? Gift shop is legit the best part if you like Guinness enough to want branded items. Another crap Dublin attraction is the Book of Kells

      >Louvre, Paris
Some of the world’s greatest art, completely ignored by the literal scrum of philistine normies crowding round the Mona Lisa complaining about how small it is. Humanity is a waste.

      > Mannekin Pis, Brussels
Tiny statue of a pissing child that somehow has become Belgium’s entire identity. Go for a beer instead

      > Tim Horton’s, Canada
Was looking forward to this after I save levels of hype. Coffee is crap and food is worse. WTF Canada

      >Guinness Brewery
      >Book of Kells
Agree. So many tourist traps in Dublin. Also, the Cliffs of Moher and Killarney are overrated.

        Consider the scale here.

The thing is small. Shame they left the rubble in front of it though.

          >Consider the scale here
What a naive defense. Imagine ruining a beautiful painting but saying it's not bad because you can still see some of the painting underneath

If I were to put a single splotch on a canvas that would be applicable. Would you have preferred it be ground into a quarry?

I agree for the Mannekin Pis, it's straight up ridiculous. However, the Louvre IS impressive, just because some tourists just want to see the Mona Lisa doesn't mean you can't enjoy the museum for yourself. The small statue of a pissing child in the corner of a random street however...

over a decade ago it got sold to some brazilian holding company or something they will shave cost on suppliers - mcdonalds canada bought the rights to tim horton's old coffee supplier as mcd's wanted to build its name in the morning coffee game as they had a trash reputation 20 years ago for that, now that market people like them.
i would have said something about being run by temporary foreign workers, but in the past it was run by surly teens and divorcees i dont think it was the difference maker in taste of food.

also maybe its just me getting older but i think the general appeal of that style of restaurant is a bygone era

      Other small shit statues
      > Little Mermaid, Copenhagen
Very small and very crowded with excitable Disney loving hordes of women. Statue itself is well executed but it’s really not worth a visit, unless you are passing by for some reason, where I’d take the 2min detour to look at it and go “huh”

The catacombes of Paris. All the waiting and shit line management for a near straight line through 2/3 stone and 1/3 skulls. That and it's a tall person's nightmare. At least there's stuff to read.

Half of D*blin's attractions are tourist traps.

    >La Rambla, Barcelona

As someone who lives in Barcelona but originally visited as a tourist, the city is full of gems. Some of the best restaurants in the world. Quaint neighbourhoods. Historic sights. Awesome bars.

La Rambla is the most central street in the city and is recommended on all of the tourist guides but doesn’t contain any of those things. The restaurants are literal scams, cheap microwaved food made by pakis who charge a 100% markup on everything. You can walk 15 minutes in any direction and find genuinely good quality restaurants which will often be cheaper. The shops are all overpriced and sell tat. There’s just nothing of note there worth seeing. It’s also the biggest hotspot for theft in the city.

    >Lincolns statue
I don't see how this could be a tourist trap since if you don't like it, you can just go to all of the other monuments and museums around the National Mall. Plus it costs nothing and requires virtually zero time commitment.

The most recently I've been was to see the king penguin in Chilean Tierra del Fuego
    >At Punta Arenas
    >Take a packed microbus and stay there for 4h, taking the ferry
    >See a dozen of king penguins from fricking binoculars
    >Another 4h at the microbus for returning
I should have made the Magellanic penguin trip instead
I also cannot forget this ultimate tourist trap for coomers.

That whole continent is wasted by the people living there. If Europeans had any sense and love for this planet, they would depopulate it and turn it into paradise on earth
