Travelling alone - What are some places you went alone and had a good time?

I'm 26 and I never left Canada before and I have no friends. I have 4 weeks of vacation time I need to use, where should I go? Here's some ideas I had

>America

this seems the easiest to me, I could road trip down the west coast. It's not that "exotic" though, and probably not that fun on your own
>Japan

it could be fun and safer to go alone and explore
>Italy/Greece

I'd like to see the ancient ruins in these countries
>SEA

probably the best one if I just wanna get laid but I could never tell anyone I was there

What are places you went alone and had a good time?

ive had a good time everywhere i went alone, but i enjoy that
not had a 4week solo trip

what time of year are you going?

i love spending half a week in a city in europe then i get to the point im ready for a new one or go back to my wagie cagie.
the most famous cities are nice sure, but usually the 2nd, 3rd or lower choice tourist cities were more pleasant.
i would try to go to the famous sites or eat the highly rated foods but i would never feel any guilt of bailing due to a line being too long.

    >American West Coast
Seattle is nice and the Oregon coast is beautiful albeit a bit expensive. You can possibly take the Amtrak all the way down to California and then maybe hop across the border to Baja California and see a bit of Mexico if you want to do a full North America trip.
    >Japan
I think they are opening up to some tourists so it would be nice to go. It's a long journey by plane and I would dedicate all my time to exploring the island nation
    >Italy/Greece
Not a bad idea. With 4 weeks you can do a whole Southern European/Balkan trip and see Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia too among other places if you so desire. Plenty of countries all around Europe and they're easy to get to via train or bus
    >SEA
Not too familiar but I've heard amazing things. What countries are you most interested in? You can spend weeks in Thailand or Vietnam just depends on your interests.

As burger, I would say America isn't the best choice for first time solo travel, but since you have a car it could be more fun since you would be able to see the national parks and stay out of the big cities.

    >Japan
Safe yes but if you don't know any Japanese you will have a hard time getting around and communicating.

    >Italy/Greece
I just got back from a road trip in the Peloponnese and had an amazing time but as a first timer you are probably better off doing the Athens-Delphi-Mycenae route.

    >SEA
Why not tell anyone? Who cares if you bang a couple brown hos while chilling on the beach anyway? But honestly SE Asia is pretty good for a first solo travel and there's plenty to see and do there besides whoremonger. Just watch yourself for scammers and trannies unless you are into that sort of thing

Japan is still closed so if they open then Japan, but if not I’d say go to Europe. If you’re Canadian, you can go to America whenever.

America isn't worth it unless you give a fuck about nature or some specific historical attraction. The cities are all homogenized and not that different from Canada.

Japan is cool but expensive compared to SEA. Cool war history in Vietnam and debauchery in Thailand. Id go there

      >unless you give a fuck about nature
Ah gee witnessing some of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring m landscapes on god’s green earth sure does sound lame. OP should probably just go to Thailand and fuck some 4/10, right?

America is so similar to Canada in terms of culture that it would be a waste to opt for the US instead of somewhere overseas

Have you ever gone camping? If you want something more "exotic" do a camping road trip through the US (I'd pick a general region though) rather than hitting some big cities along a highway. Cities can be cool but outdoor stuff in the USA is amazing and you come across fun little towns.

SEA is very good for first-time solo travellers because of it's established hostel culture that makes it easy to meet people.
It is also very cheap compared to Japan for example, if that matters to you.
Also, people won't judge you for visiting SEA. If you're worried about people judging you, just make sure you tell them about what you actually did. If you tell people 'I went to Thailand' some might assume you were banging ladyboys for 3 weeks but if you tell them 'I went to Thailand and went to see --- and learnt about --- and met a guy who showed me ---", suddenly you're a cultured academic.
The fact the first thing you mention about SEA is getting laid tells me you're probably an awkward person in real life, so staying in a hostel with the intention of meeting people in the lobby and deciding what to do from there might not work for you. But I'd say give it a shot anyway.

Seconding this. And it's the easiest that hostel and bar socializing has ever been in my experience so OP should do great. Whole place just has an extroverted aura

They really don't unless you're shifty and vague or something when you talk about it. If you don't have weird vibes, it's a common backpacker destination, and travel experience there is a net gain for coolness.

UK could be a good recommendation for OP. No language barrier and easy to navigate with rail system, and if OP has no friends, they might find the smaller towns of the UK receptive to a humble traveler in town for the night.

sometimes if you can't decide, even if money is not a huge issue, looking at the rough prices or logistics of what you might do can help decide.
plan a vague holiday for each.
use google flights to look at what might be cheaper routes for where you are going.
if it is just europe in general - particularly from canada, some cities or airlines are more likely to be cheaper.
Airtransat, TAP, aer lingus, icelandic air probably have the best prices but not exclusively ive seen aircanada/luftansa + westjet have competitive ones in the right scenario.
Best priced destinations would be Dublin, Paris, Amsterdam, sometimes brussels, Portugal, UK (manchester/glasgow) with london being the cheapest flight but being a trick if you are not connecting as staying or travelling on land from london there is more expensive than just flying to whatever the desired city was. - unless you were landing at a london airport but heading away from the city directly like london stansted to cambridge.

if you are not near a major airport in canada and need to connect within country (you can also connect through major usa airports), while toronto has the most connections it aslo has the worst airport taxes - but travelling within canada it might not save you any money connecting through a city vs just going fastest route possible.

    >America
Unless you have a driver's license it's kinda annoying to get around. If you want West Coast to to the Cascades if you're into outdoorsy stuff.
    >Japan
    Still closed.
    >Italy/Greece
Probably your best option if you like food and drinking. Would probably be a good place to break you out of your shell if you go out to taverns or foreigner expat pubs that attract English speakers.
    >SEA
If you want to coom there are plenty of Asian escorts in Canada. If you wanna go to Thailand, Singapore, etc. do your research and go for things other then coom or you'll be disappointed.
Also I'm leaving out Phillipines because it's uncertain how they're turning out due to the recent elections affecting state security.

Are you referring to any "Spa" or "Massage" place branded as being Asian?

people still wear masks in Philippines? That might be a factor to consider too. I was going to go to thailand/vietnam but then I saw that they're all still wearing masks and its just not worth it to me to pay for that
