This has been my experience as well. The most difficult part of language learning is the first few months/year where you just have to grind through grammar rules and basic vocab. That is to say the beginning always feels more like 'traditional studying' where the latter portion does not.

It's not unsafe. What this means in practice is you'll make friends with a couple guys and add them on WhatsApp. Whenever you need the local Monopoly money, they'll come to you rain or shine as long as you've got physical dollars to trade. These are easy to come by as you can use the Western Union app to send yourself physical dollars, which you can then pick up from a store. If you keep $500 in your apartment, it should be more than enough to live on as long as you've covered rent.

Yes but unless you're getting the actual top level blue rate price its not worth it and you can just use monopoly money instead. For food I never pay in USD only the local currency and try to make sure I'm paying locals prices. For renting a place long term or renting a puta I'd try to negotiate a good deal using USD.
