Take a few days in New England it’s a lot more condensed than the rest of the country and you can get cities mountains and beaches. For three months of time it’s worth a week

Having only been to Chicago, NYC, DC, New Orleans and having lived in the South as a kid, skip everything west of Niagara Falls and/or south or DC besides New Orleans. Instead, visit Philly, Boston and Providence, and if you can, go to Montreal and Toronto.

which places are worth visiting in the west?

Fly to the west coast and use the last two weeks to a month in LA, SF and Vancouver. I know you said you love cities, and that's why I'm including those three in the west, but it also has (probably) some of the best rainforests in the world since they're not constantly 40 degrees C and wet. Add San Diego if you're a boomer and wanna see what rich people live like.

Memphis, Birmingham and Atlanta are shitholes and not worth going out of your way for. Nashville is pretty plastic.

Veer west and go to Knoxville/Asheville instead of Raleigh and make your way up the blue ridge parkway. Visit Philadelphia as well as DC and New York too, Philly definitely has some awful parts but its cool to spend a day on. Also you really do not need 3 months for just the east coast... Maybe 3 weeks if you have that long go west

checked. while I do like the city as a tourist to see a few gems, its public parks fly the LGBT flag in October (no American flag or any other flag, it's not pride month, but there it flies), while 60% of its churches have BLM messaging on their message boards - so it looks rabidly leftist and ideological for a visitor from Canada like me

Idk if this was intentional, but lake erie on your map there is in the Sandusky area. Don't go to that shit house, hit cleveland instead. And before anyone asks, cedar point blows shit out my ass

If you want to see Lake Erie, stop in Erie, PA rather than cl*veland.

Looks pretty good, my want to do it in reverse though. OP are you doing a mix of driving rail and short haul flights? Or is this one massive road trip?

haven't decided yet, since my idea is to stay longer in any place I like or travel further if the place is a shithole

I might combine flights and driving

Don’t attempt this itinerary in the mid winter. Fall or spring might be best.

there is A LOT of early colonial heritage in that city - ancient (for America) churches, many Founders buried there etc etc - I would do at least 1 night
if bored by philadelphia itself you can do a day trip to the boardwalk and casinos of Atlantic City, which was the garden gnomeel of the east coast in the 1920s and 1930s though has been in decline since the 1950s.

I did a trip that big for 500 dollars. Took 3 weeks. Three months sounds like a bit much.
It would be a decent trip but enjoy paytoll hell if you wanna make good time.

Like other anons have said, Philly may be a terrible place to live, but it's a nice place to visit for a day or two, and it fits nicely onto your route. Also, since you're already going to be in Tennessee, you should strongly consider hitting up the Great Smoky Mountains. Also consider Savannah, Georgia over, or in addition to, Atlanta.

Really, what I would recommend is more nature. Anyone who comes to America for the cities is making a mistake.

      >Anyone who comes to America for the cities is making a mistake

This. Most major cities are exactly the same jumbled mess of roads and people with a few sights here and there. Probably also the same reason foreigners think low of Americans because the ones in the cities are the worst examples of people

      >Driving right through georgia
      >Not hitting up Savannah
It's like our only great city

If he is doing Charleston, Savannah is basically the same thing. I'd only do one not both.

I did Montreal * > Boston * > New York * > Newark > Philadelphia * > Washington D.C. * > Baltimore * > Richmond > Charlotte once, if you're interested in cities you should hit up all of the ones I've asterisked as they have something to offer. Also like others said Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont are lovely and worth a visit.

Spend a few days in New York and spend the rest of the time in the American southwest. Check out the national parks and such. You've seen one American city, you've seen them all.

NYC is probably the best yeah. Our cities aren't very good for tourism, they're too young.

Nothing worthwhile to see or do in Birmingham. Don’t waste your time there. Atlanta and Memphis at least have *some* things to see, but tons of crime, etc. New Orleans is fun.

I reccomend doing the blue ridge parkway and shenandoah skyline if you like hiking / nature in the appalachian mountain range area. I81 is the closest highway to appalachians it's awesome and goes through coolest mountain sections on east coast. I travelled it for about 2 weeks and had a blast. Some of my favorite towns I stayed in / passed through were gatlinburg, asheville, roanoke, staunton. Tons of amazing day hikes btw too like mccaffee knob and other mountains especially asheville had tons of amazing hiking spots everywhere.

    >No Philadelphia
    >Skips Charlottesville which is actually a nice stop
    >No Florida
    >Atlanta instead of Savannah
    >fucking Birmingham lmao
    >FUCKING MEMPHIS LMAO
should cut the line right there because car will be 100% stolen in memphis the second you park

Your itinerary is absolute dogshit and you should feel bad for even considering this shitshow of a plan. It's like you intentionally picked the shittiest stops while ignoring the good alternatives along the way.

I took a long weekend there recently and was surprised how much fun I had. Definitely need to get back for a longer trip some time, and if OP wasn't obsessed with cities, I'd tell him to add it to the route.
