Me and some friends are traveling to Vancouver. I have two questions:
1. Any recommended Glamping spot around Vancouver that can be reached by car
2. City life, besides using Google, any other spots in the city I we should go to?

Just skip Vancouver because it's a miserable shithole.
Go to the Island, Sunshine Coast and up the route towards Whistler a lot more natural and it's nicer.
Vancouver you just walk around Stanley Park and that's pretty much all there is to the city outside of homeless and passive-aggressive twats.
1. AirCanada departure lounge sipping guiness while you wait for your flight out.
2. Enjoy the entire city view from the comfort of 12F as your flight ascends to cruise.
> Glamping
Gay and forced meme. Fuck off
Is the new “signature class” lounge with the restaurant any good?
I hate the term too. I just use it out of convenience. We're coming in from different parts of the US and do not want to buy equipment other then food, disposables onsite.
Might do Whistler then, but planning on April visit. From what I've read, it could be still snowing at that time. Anybody know how frequent this is in April up there? So perhaps if skip Vancouver altogether just a cabin or lodge would do.
April will 100% have snow, both mountains are will still be open and have quite a lot of skiing going on. May can potentially have snow, last year we got a bunch of dumps in early May.
you should look at the prices of places you're planning on staying, a "cabin" in whistler is going to cost you a shit ton of money.
I'm from Vancouver and now live in a sunny and pleasant part of the US (as a lawful permanent resident).
If you don't really like camping and only want to pretend, why not just check into a nice hotel? I personally can recommend the Four Seasons Vancouver if you want to be downtown, and Four Seasons Whistler if you're going to be there (Local resident rates are extended to BC/WA residents). The rates are low (relatively speaking) depending on seasonality, and the exchange rate is in your favor ($1 USD:$1.33 CAD).
>Try the Japanese food, known for it and it lives up to it,
I hope you're joking. Outside the few real Japanese places so many "Japanese" restaurants are run by Chinese and Koreans. It's no more authentic than any regional big city
It's ok, and only if you're into it.

1. Prince Harry and his Blackid wife glamped in North saanich (on the island). Another on-island alternative would be qualicum beach.
2. No 5 orange
I’ll use this thread.
Will be in Vancouver and intend on driving to Alberta.
Might want to visit the island. Goal is to do hikes and nature sightseeing (whale watching and birdwatching).
Any recommendations?
It's an expensive rainy unfriendly shithole. Why the fuck would you go there?
city life that is also close to nature.
Never really been to Vancouver, really.
Oh, so I don't normally smoke pot but my friends do. Are there places to actually smoke pot besides private residences? From what I understand you can not smoke weed in areas that also prohibit smoking cigarettes.
>city life that is also close to nature.
unless you're into asian stuff the city doesn't offer much beyond the seawall and filming locations
most of the nature close to the city gets absolutely packed, also april is usually rainy season
one good thing about april is you can get a decent rental price if you're willing to go somewhere out of the way like quadra island
>Oh, so I don't normally smoke pot but my friends do. Are there places to actually smoke pot besides private residences? From what I understand you can not smoke weed in areas that also prohibit smoking cigarettes.
you can shoot heroin in front of cops in vancouver, the only thing to worry about with weed is if you get caught while driving and smoking
take highway 3 instead of tc
you can whalewatch out of victoria, probably a higher chance to see a whale, or you could go to cathedral grove, stay overnight in port alberni and then go to tofino for whalewatching
Thanks a lot. I wasn’t sure about Tofino but looks like I’ll definitely go there once I am done with Banff and Jasper.
Not sure if same as OP, but am from Vancouver and let me give you a breakdown - this is coming from someone born here and mid 20's, social life style
You'll enjoy Vancouver if you're into being a foodie, going into nature for hiking - just google top hikes around north Vancouver if you don't want to travel 1+ hour away,
Try the Japanese food, known for it and it lives up to it,
Clubbing scene is decent if youre into the night life, it's bland compared to US but it's fine. Greta is a new popular spot.
Nature stuff are day trips for the most part, could do hike in the morning, and end it off in the city.
For pot there's Cannabis Culture Lounge where you can chill and buy a blunt there, pretty nice spot and in downtown vancouver
Museums suck, Art Galleries here suck
Spend more time in Nature than the City here, trust me on that
Oh and lots of cool coffee shops and cafe vibes
>Museums suck
T. Never went to museum of anthropology
tofino. take the ferry, drive down.
how could you possibly hang out with a group of people and come up with hongcouver as a vacation destination
it's literally the worst parts of the PNW but also it's fucking canadian
As others have said, Vancouver is not worth the visit. It's a shithole that markets itself as the best place on earth. Everything is mediocre at best and you can find better stuff elsewhere.
Weed is legal and abundant, but its also illegal to smoke anywhere. So there's that.
It's not as if OP is going to live in Vancouver, I can say living here it's a terrible city, visiting though I just can't think of anything worthwhile except the seawall. The city is very boring and filled with arrogant liberals from Winnipeg that think they live Honolulu/NYC because everyone's an asshole and it's hyper-expensive.
BC is a beautiful province and is good to visit if you like nature. Vancouver Island is comfy, but there are a lot of bears around so take precautions. It pisses rain until around May or so and then the summers are actually dry.
>City life, besides using Google, any other spots in the city I we should go to?
IDK how long you are planning on staying but the city itself is somewhat lacking from a tourist perspective. It's a great place to live. But there is no real reason to spend more than say 3 days downtown. If you have the time Whistler and Victoria are worth going to. If you're going in the summer something like Penticton (or at least Kelowna/Kamloops.)might be worth going as well.
Personally I'd make the trip a three stop leg of Vancouver - Seattle - Portland
or Vancouver- Victoria - Seattle.
But I'm also not the biggest nature guy so if your for that: Deep cove is the 10 minute IG girl hike. Garibaldi Lake is the actually much prettier hike with more to see and camping spots. (not glamping though)
People also like Tofino but I have no idea why, and it is a pain in the ass to get to.
You can share needles with the homeless in downtown.
