Visiting South Africa

Has anyone here visited South Africa? I have been interested in going there for nearly a decade now and was curious to hear some experiences. I’ve seen some Reddit stuff and other travel blogs but it would be more beneficial to get real opinions here. My main interest has been the Western Cape and Pretoria but is there anything else you guys feel would be more beneficial? Please share any information at all along with experiences about South Africa as possible. It’s nearly impossible to get non normie tier info about it

Cape Town I get, but why on earth would you go to Pretoria? All the historical sites there are so downtrodden.
Also keep in mind that Cape Town and Pretoria have complete opposite climates at time during the year.

No actual reason beside pic related and then it’s predominantly white. I dont know a ton that’s why I made the thread.

        >predominantly white
thats very debatable these days dude. Pretoria is just as racially diverse as Johannesburg. Your expectations will be better realized in the Cape.
If you want to see the Jacaranda trees bloom then your best bet is to come in the latter half of October.

Interesting I didn’t know that! Would avoiding that whole part Johannesburg/Pretoria be advisable and just stick to the Western Cape?

That depends if you really want to see the Jacarandas as you find them in the Cape due to the different environment.
You'll be fine if you stick to the "good" suburbs in Pretoria like Centurion or Sandton City/Hyde Park in Joburg

I guess it depends on whether you want to see the wildlife at places such as Kruger Natl. Park. IF you go there you'd probably pass through that part of the country.

Ok cool yeah I’ve got a ton of research to do but that is all very helpful I appreciate it.

i worked in jo'burg for a bit. well mainly sandton, which is the rich part of the city
it was ok. i didn't really do much though, or mix with very many people except my work team. i certainly didn't go to any of the sketchy areas.

depends what you want to do, see and the time of the year you would be coming here

tbh the western cape is your best bet
    then go see the animals

country is in a heavy fricking downward spiral

Right, I kinda wanna go asap because in 10-15 years what will it look like? I feel I would really regret not going when I’m older. But yeah western cape seems to be the best bet then the garden route with seeing some animals.
