ill be going with my good friend. first visit bangkok and then chill in krabi and phuket. maybe change to samui depending on the weather forecast. just see nature and hike, water activities, tours etc. im 23 years old dutchie furthest ive gone was italy so i expect this to be quite an eye opening trip.

phuket is fairly degenerate dude, the nightlife is basically all geared towards the sex industry, plus its full of russians
Ko Samui is much nicer and would likely suit your needs better.

jesus patong is so fricking pathetic. I wish I haven't seen that shit. Don't even pretend anymore, it's just a brothel with some shitty restaurants attached

Thats crazy in around 10 days i'll be leaving too. i have a whole itineray planned for krabi/phuket including phi phi but i've read it can get rainy in may so might swap it to samui and just go with the flow there. we've also heard krabi and phuket can be really touristy so thats also a downside i guess. we'll be renting scooters and try to avoid all that stuffs

we're definitely not the sex tourists stereotypes so i hope we wont have any issues with trust from locals. genuine interest in their culture from our side, looking forward to it

Are you starting in Bangkok? Dutchie's seem pretty chill, I'm an American. If you want, I can meet you in Bangkok.
Yeah man phuket is incredibly touristy, It's annoying but its worth the trip.
You 100% need a motorbike, the traffic in Bangkok and phuket get so bad that you can be stuck in a car for hours, but the motorbike can get you there in 30 minutes. Lanesplitting is fun and very common.
But yeah, a shit ton of tourists in Phuket. Whenever I walk around at night I do it with an angry face so people leave me alone lmao. I didn't go to krabi, but I would imagine its the same. Phi Phi was a lot of fun, 2 days is more than enough for Phi Phi.
In phuket, I was only in Patong, and that's where all the tourists are. If you stay away from Patong it might not be bad.

Does she speak English or do you know her language?

She speaks English. It's not perfect, if you want a thai girl that speaks really good English then the flight attendants are one of your best bets.
I don't speak Thai but she is teaching me.
If you get a Thai gf, they will understand what you say but not always be able to speak it back, which is a pro and a con. A lot of times a serious conversation will be done using a translating app, or you'll try to communicate non-verbally which is a lot of fun.

        >she speaks English
        >she’s helping you learn Thai
That sounds nice anon. I bet women there are more willing to help foreigner men learn their language because it’s a win win relationship

It's okay. Sometimes I don't like her but that's for other reasons... It's hard to trust some Thai women, but she's very nice when she's good

Yes we are starting from there, we're only staying for 2 days to acclimate from jetlag and then move on so i dont think we have enough time to meet up. we're wary of riding in bkk cause we heard bangkok traffic is chaos. made sure our hotel is near the metro so we can just use public transport. we'll def get scooters near the islands though. you got any must sees for bkk? we'll toast at lebua state tower and check out khao san road. any other dope places?

Traffic in BKK is absolutely terrible. BTS works great. You could go to the Grand Palace, any temple is good. Khao San Road is a lot of fun, but very loud. Soi Cowboy is a must see I guess but it's pretty gross, Bangla Road is pretty much the same but sexier.

      >we've also heard krabi and phuket can be really touristy
Phuket is Russian central. Enjoy your kvas, cyka.
Krabi (Ao Nang) is Pajeetland. Enjoy your curry, sir.
Go to Railay if you're in Krabi and go hiking around the rocks, it's fun and the views are great but the place is crowded as hell. Ngon Nak has spectacular views and is relatively quiet but a b***h to reach without a scooter. Phuket doesn't have many redeeming qualities. Everything coastal is a massive resort. The main city is a bit dead currently. The old town part has some peranakan houses if you haven't seen these before but that's it.

Soi cowboy go to crazy house. It's owned by an army general so never gets raided and closes later than anything else by far. Has fully nude dancers, the youngest and the hottest rather than the 30 year old single mothers in the other gogos.

And go to Nana plaza, buy a ladyboy a drink in a ladyboy bar, they are fun to talk to and if you tell them you're just looking around they'll totally understand and tell you shit

Why do people leave the gayest countries on earth (US/CA/UK/AUS/EU) to frick men (ladyboys) in Thailand?

Did you listen to what I said moron? You'll have a whale of a time in a kathoey bar for the cost of a drink or two. It's a bucket list item same as going to the reclining Buddha or Khao San

Hua Hin is a cheaper and more laid back beach experience. No coomers, no crazy night life.

    Some terrible advice in here.

How long are you going for?

My first tip is to go straight to the beach and do Bangkok at the end. A couple of days in Bangkok brings you back up to the speed of life from the chill vibes of the beach. It's horrible going straight from the beach to an international flight home.

Other anons are correct that Phuket is the Magaluf of Thailand. Some nice villas there, but it's a long boat trip to somewhere nice, so you might as well spend the time in and around Krabi, especially if you'll have bikes, which are a bit wasted on Phuket.

Personally, I'd spend some of the time in the north seeing the best of Thailand. Beaches are nice, but pretty touristy and boring, and only really worth it if you are diving.

A friend of mine has a resort near Khao Lak so I go to Thailand a lot. Having some wheels definitely opens up the deserted, locals beaches and food places. I always rent a Toyota Fortuner and just go wherever looks interesting. My best experiences have come from just talking to a random thai person who has been crazy excited to show me around.

cheers, thanks for the based advice. i've definitely been considering cutting out phuket exept for the last day (our plane leaves from there). i'd take up your advice to end in bangkok but unfortunately the tickets already have been booked. we'll come from very far so i think the first 2 days bangkok is also neccesary to touch ground. for krabi we have dragon crest hike, railay, hong island, kayaking in ao thalane, as activities. any more stuff you think we should definitely see to make most of our 2 weeks?

The North is basically unlivable for a few months a year. Local authorities had these water trucks that they'd spray around near the air quality monitors all day to get the recordings down.
It still has some of the worst air on earth, 100% avoid burning season

Yeah, I was in Thailand in April 2019. Air quality was some of the worst in the world thanks to all the burning. My lungs are fine but after exercise you really feel the damage it's doing.
