Eastern State Penntentrary in Philadelphia. Pretty much any haunted farm in any rural area. I used to go to Haunted Overload in NH for example, and that was a lot of fun.

Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia during Halloween

Gotta disagree with these anons. PA has loads of great haunts, and I've found Eastern State to be on the weaker side, despite it's great location. It still used to be fun, but now they've stopped doing a dedicated haunt experience and cut the number of houses in half.

KNott's Scary Farm is pretty great. The Dark Harbor in Long Beach was amazing. They stopped doing it after covid. Fright Farm in Pennsylvania is insane. Pennsylvania is known for having some of the most insane Halloween attractions in the US. I've been to several and none of them disappointed.

Hhn is really great if you're in perpetual summer that is socal. You can find loads of homegrown haunted mazes throughout New England. These are much less predictable, repetitive, and generic than hhn and often incorporate tractor rides, carnival stuff, not extremely overpriced theme park food, corn maze, pumpkin patches, etc. Since it's in the north it actually has the season for it, so the leaves turning colors, etc. Idr names of these places though or if they're still as good as they used to be since it's been more than a decade since last living up there.

I grew up in a small city in North central Iowa. Surrounding it were small farming towns. Needless to say it was quite boring as a teenager. One night a group of my friends drove to a small town to explore. we came across an old cemetery. It was creepy enough but still nothing to write home about. We then drove a little bit more and atumbled across an old abandoned farm. It had no lights and all the windows were busted out of the house. We got out of the car and decided to see the inside of the house because why not? we were bored. The house itself was still well built, the floors and walls were solid. What was strange is that the house had a second floor but two seperate, unconnected parts to the second floor. I'm not sure why it would've been this way. Two staircases leading to two upstairs.
One of my friends came up with an idea for us to scare unsuspecting classmates at this place. Our plan was simple, one group of two people will arrive before sunset and setup places to scare people while the other group convinces classmates to check out an old abandoned farm. We also stole fire extinguishers from our high school to add a fog effect which always freaked out people. it was awesome. The team scaring would be in one upstairs, while the team leading the sacred went to the other upstairs.

This went one 2-3 times. Then one night it was myself and a friend of mine of the scaring team. It was getting dark and time to head upstairs. I got an uneasy feeling and told my friend that we should just wait downstairs until they arrive. He for some reason agreed. Then mid conversation about which actress was more attractive, I head footsteps in the gravel. No light, no other sound, nothing but perfectly slow paced footsteps in the gravel. They were headed right for us. I told my friend to stfu and run.
The closest neighbor was 1 mile away, and we'd see them coming from the road.
    It was scary shit.

I've been to a lot of theme park horror parties, and I actually enjoyed Knotts Scary Farm slightly more than HHN, though HHN has much more return visit potential, as it swaps everything every year.

Theres also another halloween haunt in NH that looks pretty awesome https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxV4eI9Quu8

I want to get to Knott's so bad, but it starts too late in the season for me to visit as I work at a haunted house. The great thing about HHN is being able to go at the start of September before my own haunt gears up.
