Las Vegas is surprisingly underrated because of how popular it is everyone just talks shit about it. There's tons of fun things to do, like Superman flying over the place at night with all the different colored lights all around you (laying zipline), all the games, women, that building that lets you jump off the rooftop, etc.

Overrated: Denver. The surrounding cities and nature are fantastic, but the city itself is surprisingly bland
Underrated: New Orleans has world class food, the best live music scene in the country, drinking in the streets, one of the few places in America with a distinct culture and practiced traditions, I could go on. The big caveat is that it is sketchy, so I understand how it's gotten to be underrated, but avoid getting helplessly drunk and you'll have an incredible time.

      >Las Vegas is surprisingly underrated
I was shocked how much I loved Las Vegas. I prefer 'authentic' bullshit but Vegas is just so absurd that you can't help but have a good time.

I actually think New York is pretty much always underrated since so many people shit on it yet its still the only place like it in the whole world, let alone in the USA. Chicago is similar, another extremely unique city that America just shows zero appreciation for. Still, nothing is even similar to NYC.

But I'll put forth an answer more in the spirit of this thread. Since its not like NYC needs me mentioning it in a Mongolian basket weaving forum to put it on the map.

      >underrated
      >Louisville KY
hipster town, kinda leftisty but they get balanced out by being in Kentucky. there's some really cool neighborhoods, its probably the most affordable city in the USA and it attracts some pretty great musicians and talent. its got a lot more going on than you'd think.

      >overrated
      >Detroit
Detroit rennaissance is a myth, the city is still largely deserted and what little bits of it have been resettled have been resettled as these trendy sort of hipster runoff sites. This whole "rebirth" narrative is everywhere and nauseating, since what little rebirth the city has seen has been a hollow soulless shell of its former self. The downtown sucks, the infrastructure is either crumbling, non-existant or not made at all for this century. The local university is a joke school in all respects and all the cultural institutions worth a damn are in the suburbs (which in fairness are pretty all right).

      >I actually think New York is pretty much always underrated
      Agreed
      >Detroit rennaissance is a myth
Pretty much. People are pretty friendly in my experience, but there's not much going on. Riding the empty Detroit People Mover and seeing so much city and so few people walking around was a pretty cool surreal experience.

Denver's not even in the nature, and Boulder has gotten unbearably expensive. If you want a bland, soulless hellhole of a city wih access to mountain sports Denver isn't even the best option, SLC is. Overrated doesn't even begin to describe how much Denvoid sucks.

Agreed on NOLA. Awesome town, one of Ameirca's best.

          >Overrated doesn't even begin to describe how much Denvoid sucks.
Overrated it may be, but it's where I made my friends and other connections in my mid 20s, so it has some subjective value for me.

It's on the rise, which is nice and I established a really fun, active routine.

My routine looks like all day volleyball saturday in the park, calisthenics on friday/sun, and a great martial arts gym on 3-4 weekdays.

Where can you do this with a bunch of other young professionals for cheaper? I bet it exists. I just don't know where

any college town in the USA. probably any city over 250k pop. I think most suburbs of major cities would have this pretty well covered. you really aren't asking for a lot.

The whole point of living in Colorado is that you can do SighSee things which a gym really isn't even if its kind of the same idea.

I get that the culture there might be more fitness friendly but that also describes anywhere with a lot of younger people (and not the midwest since they're a bunch of fatasses).

Chicago is definitely underrated and gets way more shit than it deserves. New York though... not so much. It really is just a giant, culturaless open shopping mall these days. Was a very cool place thougj 15-20 years ago.

Everything you say about Detroit is dead on. Except. The art museum is pretty fricking bad ass.

Would agree on Austin and add San Antonio. I spent 3 hours driving to see the riverwalk which was full of homeless people.
Underrated, Portland Maine. Maybe not in peak summer but beautiful scenery near a somewhat developed midsize city.

Overrated: Los Angeles and it's not even close. Filthy pacific rim shithole. Most of the attractions are fake e.g. the Hollywood walk of fame. Nobody affiliated the movie industry even goes there anymore.

Underrated: I'll agree with those saying Chicago. It's a city full of beautiful architecture and history, on a lake that might as well be ocean front property, with great dining, a well thought out public transit system and it's not terribly expensive.

    Pittsburgh is an actual shithole

    ?t=60
The city has a lack of sunlight for most of the year. The culture is awful and there's very little to do for a big city. Everyone is an alcoholic or druggie because that's the only thing to do for fun. The food is super bland and gets beat out by Italian-run restaurants in fugging Florida. It gets even worse when you leave Allegheny County as it becomes white trash af.
The dating scene there is also awful, you'll likely be an incel unless you're willing to date obese women. Literally got 5 likes on Pittsburgh Tinder all fat, meanwhile in Orlando, I had a UCF sorority girl superlike me and got over 50 matches.
Pittsburgh is literally on the worst 10 cities to date: https://www.wtrf.com/news/pennsylvania-headlines/can-you-find-love-in-pittsburgh-the-best-and-worst-u-s-cities-for-dating/
Most of the new people who move to Pittsburgh now are inbred techbros who want to get away from the Black folk, so you get a bunch of trailer trash who think they're a top shot now for learning PHP. The original people of Pittsburgh never leave Pittsburgh except for their biyearly Myrtle Beach vacation. Just an awful place to live if you're a young guy.

After living in the Bay Area for 3 years Pittsburgh was a breath of fresh air, then again a fricking gulag would better dating scene for straight men than the Bay.

I talk to friends in Austin and NYC and it's like they're living in an irl harem anime. The girls are cute as frick too.

Not from the west coast. I like how Yinzer hicks are incapable of recognizing the depressing shithole that they live in. I like how the hicks can't stand the thought of anybody being better than white trash living where they live.
Everything is dirty and falling apart, just incapable of being presentable.
Would it really kill the Yinzer to put a new coat of paint on their buildings?
Is it too much for the Yinzer to not be an alcoholic or druggie?
Could the dumb Yinzer be capable of talking about anything besides the Stillers?
I have the feeling that you never lived outside of PGH for more than 3 weeks in your whole life and your homosexual family is apart of the old boys network or hick cousin-fricking family club

Tulsa, OK is overrated as frick. Those losers actually think they are on par with the likes of LA. NYC or Austin. It's hilarious watching their smoothbrains do mental gymnastics to explain why it should be in the Top 10.

Overrated: LA. It was probably a nice place to live 60 years ago, but for visiting it's actually fricking horrible. Hard to get around, tons of homeless, just looks like a generic city but with palm trees.
Underrated: Chicago is my answer, but everyone ITT has already said this. Philadelphia is cool to visit too, but I wouldn't live there.

overrated: definitely LA. I live in southern California. I try to talk everyone out of visiting LA. Ive been here for over a decade and I only go to LA for a sporting event or to see a band play at a club. The NFL and NBA games in LA have gotten so expensive that I might go once a year. The homeless problem is insane. For travel, I'd say one or 2 days max in LA is fine just to see Santa Monica pier, The Getty and Griffith Park.

    Underrated:
South Lake Tahoe California. They have the best weather in the world for snowboarding. But I actually prefer the summer. The bike trails and hiking are fricking epic, but you're still in a city with awesome food. It's fricking awesome if you own a dog because everything is dog friendly. It would be literally impossible to rent a big ass cabin in Tahoe in the summer with friends and have a bad time.

      >South Lake Tahoe California.

Overrated: Seattle. I don’t really know what most Americans who haven’t been here think of it, but it’s a rainy depressing shithole full of homeless drug addicts, rude people, and leftists driving the city into the ground.

Underrated: Washington DC. Great architecture, cool history, lots to do and see free of charge, nice people, good food.

I was there for a film festival (our film was selected) and met some foreign and some locals that seemed friendly. I was around 28 at the time around spring time. I usually hate people too, and this time it didn't seem to be the case.

SF is underrated at this point.

It gets a lot of shit because of “muh bums” and “muh leftists”. Yes it has both of these, and yes they are real problems, but they really just knock a 10/10 down to a 9/10

It’s beautiful, unique looking, and riddled with oceans of stuff to go do and see.

This is really desparate and pathetic to shill your overpriced shithole of a city to SighSee of all places. Absolutely nobody is buying this.
