    >what do i need to have to come to italy?
    what do you mean?
    >what trains do i need to know?
Trenitalia is the Italian rail company, check website or GMaps.
    >restaurants?
    check GMaps
    >can i get by speaking english or do i have to learn italian?
you can speak English in touristic spots, hotels and restaurants
    >going to rome and florance.
good luck, avoid gypsies and nigs and you'll be all right, if someone approaches you just ignore him/her it's probably a scam.
avoid train stations at night, they are dangerous.
eat carbonara and amatriciana in Rome and lampredotto sandwich in Florence.

As an Italian I've never understood why people want to get to this hellhole...I guess it's ok when you burn money.

As all big cities some zones are dangerous at night and even day, keep in tourist zones and center city and you won't have issues.
Check for the damn pickpocketers on trains, bus, subways.
Uber doesn't work, get a taxy.
Airbnb may not work, we're a boomer population, I had shit experiences, how lucky you feel?
Hotels are expensive too, expect around 100 night in the cities.
Just go to different resturants and try stuff, avoid the turk kebabs and fast foods and try family enterprises.

italy has a lot of rich culture. Footy, Catholicism, roman culture, etc.

Hotels are too expensive. 2k euro for a few nights.

how do i know whats a family enterprises or not?

i guess its like New York right? keep your head down, dont talk to Black folk, avoid the subway at night, keep it pushing

Wow, so expensive. Pic related. You're right, anon shouldn't go. $64 to $84 a night really breaks the bank.

Yes. You can walk around at night. My mothers hairdresser flies to Italy for an entire season every year. You'll find that people are incredibly jaded on this website, particularly people from Italy - SighSee doesn't exactly attract the happiest people on Earth. Just go for yourself, and disregard the naysayers. It's Italy for christs sake.

I mean it when I say people here have no clue. OP, just do it.

You seem like a first time traveller, in that case:
        - I would avoid Airbnb as it's for more experienced travellers
        - I would get on a Hoponhopoff bus to see the main sights in the city
        - I wouldn't go alone.

Foreigners going "OOOOH" at some dusty shitty church no one gives a damn about always makes me smile.

Still go to florence and rome, the best stuff is off the beaten paths of course, but they're ok traps.

If it's not some fastfood chain, it's most likely a family resturant. Our economy is based around small business even if things are changing as the social structure is crumbling.

            >Foreigners going "OOOOH" at some dusty shitty church no one gives a damn about always makes me smile.
Old World architecture has an undeniable charm for North Americans, who are used to hellish landscapes and strip malls. Many of those "dusty shitty churches" contain priceless works of art by lesser known artists, especially in Florence.

            >even if things are changing as the social structure is crumbling.
How would you say the social structure is crumbling? I've been considering getting a visa so I can work remotely from Italy, finding an local girl to marry, and settling down in the countryside. I know there are blacks, but it didn't seem nearly as bad as in France?

Oh, it's better for sure. I did go to america years ago now and I don't really understand the metropolises or copy paste suburbs, here people have all different houses as we build them as we like.
You could ask any of the tens of thousands of artists you have there to do murales and art around and it'd be great.

              >How would you say the social structure is crumbling?
Country is getting poorer, day by day the perspective is more dire. There is hate toward the poor too, which makes social issues worse. Crime is raising I guess.
Skilled workers leave the country because the salary is 1/2 of other countries, younger people can't survive...

Girls won't be a problem if you have the money, if you find the homely kind she'll take care of you forever, they're really lovely. Beware of the ones that search for 'fun', that's kinda obvious.

Schools are pretty bad nowdays, idk if you want your kids there, I keep hearing nasty things.

There are a lot of african immigrants and gypsies, it's a mixed bag and yeah, they're really bad to deal with.

We're a good 20 years behind France. Italy is still a decent country to live in, though everything has fallen apart compared to the 90s

    >can i get by speaking english
not even considering we have translate apps on phones, if you go to a grocery store, restaurant, hotel, taxi, train station - they can figure out that you want something from them they can provide, its not rocket science.
maybe you get a weird dinner or something

Italian is really hard to learn.
Use the translator app, should be enough.
    >what do you mean by beaten paths? like figuratively?
I mean, everyone goes to florence and similar, but like there are really nice small town and all over tuscany, the nature is really unique, the alps have several sanctuaries with some of the most amazing views, ther coasts have some of the best views and beaches all over the country. There are so many nice places I can't list them, wherever you go you'll be able to find something unique for an american for sure.

    >how do you build houses over there?
Search for land, talk with the municipality for permission to build, they'll give you some limits, not too high too low and you hire architect to do a project, gets approved by municipality, build..
Can take a lot of time actually, but you're quite free to build like you want.

Ok let me ask you this. In American our architects/engineers draft the plans, we submit to municipalities. But who is the general contractor building the whole home?

    >how easy is it to learn italian?
you might not learn sentence structure or verb conjugation (well if you've done for other languages you might) but you can learn phrases or words that are important after 1-2 uses they will be in your short term memory
