Swap Kaunas, Bialystok and Zagreb for Vilnius, Krakow and Budapest. Add Munich.
ok hows this looking?
Noticeably more interesting.
>if you chose to visit Budapest you can ditch Prague and focus on Brno
Full moron status: went. OP, if you fall for this it's over between us.
oh god hes written out so much though he seems to know what hes talking about, i just went the best two month eu adventure before i get too old and settle down
Bialystok kek, even the ones that live there say its ugly
Honestly? It looks like you simply wrote down a shopping list of big cities, some are fine but others are stupid. How to fix:
1) start from Amsterdam, go to Bruxelles, Gent, Lille and Metz before going to Luxembourg. You really don't need to visit Cologne, it's a cool city but it's quite bland and globalized, like Rotterdam (which has some interesting contemporary architecture tho). Gent, Lille and Metz on the other hand are GEMS, very few tourists too. As a bonus you could stop in Strasbourg.
2)Going to Italy passing trough Switzerland is like begging to lose time, Zurich isn't even a pretty city, Interlaken, Basel and Montreux are all way better. Still the fastest way to get to Milan is to go trough Lyon / Chambery, the latter is quite close to west Switzerland so I would suggest you something like Montreux + Chambery or to directly ditch Switzerland and visit Lyon, the old Town it's amazing and the Basilique of Notre dame de Fourviere is arguably one of the prettiest churches in Europe.
3) Milan is fine but like Cologne it lacks the soul of the country, if you stay there several nights be sure to use some days to visit Bergamo, Como, Bellagio or even Genova.
Venice and Bologna are two great choices, I would suggest Verona as well but see what you can manage time wise, one certain thing is that Ancona is shit, really, what's worth to see in thay city is accomplished in a 2 hours walk, the area around it is wonderful tho, the Sirolo regional park is amazing, great sea and there's the sanctuary of Loreto near it, a visit is absolutely worth.
4) using the boats to get to Split might sound smart but it's a business where they would rip you off of hundreds of euros for a shitty time consuming trip on a boat that smells like oil, still from Ancona is the only option, it would be wiser to ditch Ancona, visiting Bologna before Venice, visiting Trieste (GREAT CITY) before moving to the east coast of the Adriatic, while you go south towards split take a stop in [...]
[...] Zadar, Trogur, Krka waterfalls or Pltvice Lakes. Split is a gem so don't miss it, and if you like the idea Ragusa is great as well + Mostar is on the road towards it.
5) it pains me to see that you ditched Budapest but it's a really effort requiring city so I understand, Bratislava offers little to nothing and Wien is GREAT, I would also suggest you to visit Ljubljana (you could also do that from Trieste, they are very close). Prague is a great city but in reality it's still a smaller and poorer Budapest, if you chose to visit Budapest you can ditch Prague and focus on Brno.
6) idk enough about the rest of your itinerary to give advices.
In the end my life bite is this: don't sleep on smaller cities, all major European capitals look alike to some degree and yeah, I didn't talked about Zagreb yet cause it's utterly shit and you should just forget about it.
Sarajevo
From Split head south to Dubrovnik, after that go to Sarajevo. There's also enough stuff to see en route to Sarajevo, depending on what you're into. Depart Dubrovnik early in the morning and you can spend the entire day exploring Herzegovina, and still arrive to Sarajevo late evening. Also Zagreb is not that interesting, coastal cities and Istra offer much more.
ok this is the new list thanks lads, i decided its not worth going all the way up into scandinavia as i only have two months and will be rushing around as is
Switzerland is stupid expensive. Unless you plan on doing some hiking in the Alps I'd skip it all together tbh. Lake Geneva is like the most expensive area to live in Europe and the towns along its shore are largely globalized and soulless imo. I'm also not sure why you'd go to Metz when you could go to Strasbourg and Colmar instead. Lille is also somewhat suspect.
Maybe try to fit in Strasbourg and Freiburg in Germany instead of wasting money in Switzerland.
Other than that your itinerary is a basic b***h interrail trip. Dubrovnik is cool but it's a Venice-tier overcrowded tourist hellhole so keep that mind. I'd spend time in Mostar instead. Timisoara is kinda meh imo but you're probably trying to pick up as many countries as possible on your trip so that's cool. Novi Sad and Subotica in Serbia are a lot nicer.
Also consider a day trip to Lake Balaton from Budapest and Bratislava from Vienna.
the reason i want to go to switzerland is that scenically it looks the best, my number one priority on this trip is to basically see the nicest looking sights possible, i dont care about going out or socialising or trying to get laid etc, i just want eye candy
The shores of Lake Geneva are terribly built-up. It's not exactly scenic by Swiss standards. I've been to a bunch of the large Swiss lakes and Lake Geneva is my least favorite.
I'm not trying to shittalk your route or anything. I know it's exciting to explore interrail itineraries and plan your own personal route yourself. But yknow. Just giving honest advice here which is based on MUH opinion.
If you want scenic Switzerland do the Bernina express.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernina_Express
Needs a reservation even with interrail pass but well worth it. Starts in Chur, Switzerland, ends in Tirano, Italy. From there, Italy is your oyster.
What I would do:
London > Amsterdam > Brussels > Strasbourg > Chur
Nice places along the way you might fit in: Ghent, Freiburg, Colmar, Basel. Zürich isn't bad at all either but expensive and generic, a bit globalized. Lake Zurich is super comfy though.
Really I totally get you want to see as much shit as possible but 24 cities in two months with train travel inbetween is just fricking stupid man. Try to reduce the number of cities in your draft to 10-15 and then see if there's any other interesting places directly along the way or that are easily reachable from these 10-15 cities.

ok this is all good advice thank you, i will try keep refining it down and find more interesting places than just the capitals
In Northern Italy you can go literally anywhere and it's likely going to be great. You can do Milano - Bologna but as others have mentioned, Milano is a massive, largely globalized city and lacks soul compared to other places in Italy.
There's a whole bunch of nice towns between Milano and Venice though - Bergamo, Brescia, Peschiera Del Garda, Verona, Vicenza, Padova are all worth seeing, located on a straight line between Milano and Venice and connected by train.
would you suggest just visiting these places as i pass through for a few hours? or would you suggest spending a night in each town between milan and venice, i guess thie is a bit more of a general question
Depends. Get a sensible draft of your route done and allocate days to your main cities and then see how much time you have left to visit other stuff.
ok good advice thank you
>wants to "go to switzerland is that scenically it looks the best"
>goes only to cities and not the actual mountains
what a fricking moron
i cant sleep in the mountains anon, i would go to a nearby city and then travel to mountains in the day, my route is just that, i route, the town/cities are interchangable
>i cant sleep in the mountains anon
of course you can, you blithering idiot
jesus christ, imagine thinking you need a hotel to sleep
what a fricking moron

>24 cites in two months
...that's like a day per place between train travel isn't it?
Doing a car trip through similar route right now.
Amsterdam needs minimum 2, preferably 4 days. It's has more shit to offer than any other city in this route.
Luxemburg need 0 days at maximum.
Neuschwanstein is a 1 hour ride from Munich and it's the most beautiful place north of Alps.
is this the view from Neuschwanstein?
It's from another castle at the same site. This one is.
It looks like you're just randomly adding capital cities without thought. There is nothing to see or do in Luxembourg. It's just a rich smallish town with lots of banks.
its basically a first draft of the route that i want to go on, it may not necesarily be luxembourg i stay at but rather a nearby village
What's the point of spending a single day in a city? With travel that gives you maybe 5 hours of actually exploring the place.
>What else do you need?
to be outside of a concrete shithole
im trying to mix it up, hostels are cheapest in cities as well
scrap over half that..forget northern eu entirely
Zurich is the most boring place in Switzerland to visit.
Split is the centre of the world.
When youre in Split, you feel like the coolest person in the world, cause you are at that moment in Split.
Even though youre just licking icecream, everywhere you look its Split. Spirit of Split gives you a bit of unshakable coolness, bravado, assertiveness, importance, however much you can take.

Reckon this is a good 90 day trip or should I give up my dreams of a grand tour and do it in chunks?
